Let's see: It's a M&G, Dessert Party, and offers special viewing. You can do all of that at the party without shelling out more cash. There are M&G everywhere, you can get "dessert" by trick or treating, look up to see the fireworks, and get yourself a place to watch the parade, all without paying an extra $99.
Yes, but people who don't know any better will think they need to shell out the extra $99 for that once-in-a-lifetime experience...:banghead:

This premium event is the craziest, I know I won't be going but will be going to the party itself, we already have our tickets. The main reason we are going is that the party is on my sister's wish list and this is her 1st visit.

If the dessert party was say - $29 I may consider it, but $99 is way too much. Easiest solution to the premium events taking over is just to not go. If people don't pay for them Disney will stop having them - supply and demand.

Read on another board that Doc Finklestein from Nightmare Before Christmas will be there. I didn't even know he did meet and greets. Maybe that means Jack and Sally will be there, too! That might make it worth it for me.

I talked to Disney direct and heard nothing about that. Doubt it's true, unless they're going to the reserved areas pre-parade and fireworks.

You know what, if Disney can find people willing to pay for this experience, then more power to them. My concern lies more with the fear that they are going to decrease/diminish regular party offerings to us "poor" folks who "only" paid the $70 to go to the traditional party. Sounds like we are going to lose some of the Mix and Mingle shows...but what else will this impact that maybe we don't even know about? I was floored by the Food and Wine "special events", but this one is just bizarre. Looks like Disney is definitely subscribing to the haves vs. have nots school of thinking. As much as a visit to the castle sounds fun, I am not paying $99 per person. Not on Party night when it's so much fun being down in the park, seeing all the fun costumes and the decorations.

I think you'll only be in the castle for around an hour. They have to clean-up and break between seatings and they're scheduled 90 minutes apart. You're hardly spending the whole night in the castle.

Putting new batteries in my "Easy button" to sound off the uptick in Disney stock each time we see the news that another $99 event has been sold out.

Disney's motto: If we charge for it, someone will pay.

We are going to our first MNSSHP a week from today and shelled out our $65 or whatever it was. We definately won't shell out another $99 to take an hour or so away from experiencing our first party's offerings. Sure you get dessert, but we plan to load up on some good chocolate on the trick or treat trails for our "dessert" which is included with the price of the event ticket!!;)

How busy are the sold out nights? We bought tickets for the 31st, and the main goal is just to do rides because that will be the only time we can visit MK and the tickets are cheaper than one day pass. Will FP+ be available too? Thanks.

No FP+ for event nights.

Ride waits are usually low, as most people are seeing parades, shows, fireworks, characters and meet and greets.

Have a great time.

I think the dessert parties are after the fireworks. So you won't miss too much if you want to go to it, especially if the last villains show is cancelled. The latest party in the castle is at 11:45 I think. So it actually extends the party I would think.
