The hard-ticketed event within a hard-ticketed event is where they crossed the line for many people. What's next? Maybe the characters can scan your Magic Band and bill you $5 each for visiting your table?
Reaction to that post from unidentified WDW executive, "Rats (or would it be mice) how did we miss that?"

7 Dwarfs Mine Train? 2014? How about Expedition Everest, built to be all that. 2006. Talking about neglect . . .

The Mine Train is great if you are a timid 5 year old. And the central animatronic on EE has been broken for the better part of a decade. I wouldn't call either of those rides remotely ground breaking even when the yeti wasn't doing his best impression of John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever.

Wow, this is mind blowing, to say the least. A party within a party? I'm excited to go for the 2nd time, but won't be if I happen to have chosen one of the nights that we peons have our experience reduced. Will be on the Disney Dream on October 31st - am looking forward to all the special events planned for that night. Imagine if DCL said that I need to pay extra to attend the festivities on deck.... "Sorry, ma'am, you cannot walk on this deck without paying Iger and Co. $100".

I hate it as a perk for onsite guests, although I have indeed used it.

Not ALL onsite guests, only those staying in the 3 deluxe resorts. Imagine if Disney decided that only those staying at the GF and Contemporary could access EMH for free - everyone else had to pay additional for it.

Hotel occupancy across the two resorts is really not an apples to apples comparison.

I could be wrong, but reading the description of this event it seems like a kind of cross between dessert party and floor show - the whole pianist and Lady Tremaine singing thing suggests that the entertainment will be a bit more elaborate than just having villains come around to the tables a la CRT princesses. It also seems to operate similarly to regular CRT dining in that you can cancel up to the day before without being penalized.

There's no doubt that they'll have to do a pretty amazing job to make it worth the high price tag, especially since it's priced higher than the MNSSHP tickets, AND higher than CRT's usual character meal. I'll be very interested to see what people think when the early reports start coming in.

My actual Christmas party prediction?

Frozen.

Much like these Villains & that dessert party, you'll have one at the Christmas party. And my odds on favorite is having Anna and Elsa there to mix and mingle & get photos with in a limited setting.

I agree - Frozen would actually almost make sense. Elsa could even turn the castle into the ice castle. I'm not saying I'd like it, just that it's pretty likely to happen.

Yep. $99. I just re-edited my post to remove the description. Already added by another member.

Actually, it's getting ridiculous. I'm ready and willing to pay the separately priced ticket for the party itself, but then $99 to eat a few desserts and watch the parade from a "special viewing" area? You've got to be kidding. We're talking approx $160-$180/person for both the MNSSHP ticket and this thing. Maybe if they had an all-inclusive ticket for a $50 add on or something like that I might consider it.
This just slays me. Who are the people paying for this stuff?

I was under the impression that we were still recovering from the great recession, but every time I see something like this, I'm like, what recession? This country clearly has far more rich people in it than I ever thought possible.

Everywhere you turn, it's premium this and premium that. If you try to buy tickets to a Broadway show these days, you will find half the orchestra section or more are "premium seats", for which producers charge $300 to $400 and sometimes more per seat.

I guess if you can afford all these premium upcharges, more power to you, but I can't really wrap my head around it.

Mostly the former. Probably some of the latter too. The former group is bigger than I ever imagined and they are ruining Disney World.
I completely agree. It's sad that Disney can literally do whatever they want and people will still go/pay.

Expedition Everest? The one thing that made that ride special hasn't worked for as long as I can remember. Without that, it's Big Thunder Mountain that goes backwards for a little bit. 7DMT? Don't see people rushing to tell all their friends how great the new kiddie coaster at the MK is. Maybe they just don't appreciate the 52 seconds of animatronics in the middle.

I'm waiting for them to start taking away things that the average guest who paid to get into the party gets to experience and allowing those only who "upcharged" to experience them (mix and mingle greets, meet and greets whos lines are REALLY long, etc..) I think I read somewhere on here that they were going to start having premium meet and greets in the parks once MM+ was done rolling out (might have just been a rumor, who knows) where guests would have to pay for a meet and greet with, say, Mickey. If they're considering doing that, I could definitely see them doing that with parts of the hard ticket evets.
Looks like Mix and Mingle is GONE. Go to the MNSSHP site... https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/events-tours/magic-kingdom/mickeys-not-so-scary-halloween-party/
...notice under Eerie Entertainment it now says "Villains Castle Show"
Use the internet archive and look what it said back on July 28th...less than a month ago.

...under Eerie Entertainment it said "Disney Villains Dance Mix and Mingle!"

Looks like they're already taking things away from those who simply pay more for a hard ticket event.
