For meeting the Villains, the mix and mingle was terrible. They'd be there for 5-10 minutes and then leave to get ready for the next show. Having them meet elsewhere for the entire party is much better for everyone.

The only real loss is losing characters like Flynn Rider and Prince Phillip to accomodate more villains, but if that's what guests want for a Halloween party then I don't think it's too much of a loss.

Looking at the write up for the Soiree, it reads like a sort of after-party for MNSSHP. The high price tag and late start time make it very hard for a family with young children. Even the entertainment - pianist, Lady Tremaine singing solos- isn't particularly appealing for little kids, though I'm sure the content itself will be perfectly fine for all ages.

I suspect they're trying to coax in more adults or families with older teens, people who might otherwise be inclined to skip MNSSHP and do Food & Wine instead.

There's not more villains just doubling and tripling up on performers. And now the mix & mingle crew has to do ten minute sets. Good gig if you can get it...

But I didn't have to pay to enter Darth's Mall - just wait for a few hours

Except that they had a special event which included first access to Darth's Mall before the first weekend and it was an upcharged premium event...to shop.

And I wasn't comparing this to the dessert party, it was in response to someone suggesting that next they will offer special packages to shop in the Emporium.

Yes, but at what point does aspects that were including with the regular party admission start getting cut back/ eliminated so the regular guest feels that he isn't getting a premium product anymore?
It started to happen a few years ago.

Hallowishes had huge sections cut

Park atmosphere was cut

Mix n Mingle was shortened

For starters.

And the price still goes up each year.

Nope, nothing forces you buy it. I don't want it so won't go to it. The party will still be great without it.

But it will mean one less Mix n Mingle performance for the regular guests, as those characters will be engaged inside the castle for this private dessert party.

This crap is bad, and it's becoming laughable. A $99 sub-event of a $70 event? TDO could demolish Wonders of Life with cajones that big and brassy.
