2011 Christmas Day Parade Discussion

BAH HUMBUG ... well, at least I missed the first 30 minutes, so no Biebs for me.

These commercials just get worse annually.

The editing is so awful and choppy ... constant cuts.
They never let the camera linger on anything be it a float, a performer etc. Are they afraid the viewers will actually see something?

Pretty hard to not notice the sea of white that makes up the crowds.

It's always been a commercial, but there was something special about it when it was LIVE and not taped a month (with some segments taped MONTHS) in advance. I also wonder how many non-regular guests actually think if they visit for Christmas they'll see a parade that resembles what they are seeing on TV.

I am sure it makes some folks feel MAGICal, but it just falls flat for me. It's just a commercial and not a particularly well produced one either.

Merry Christmas ... and Happy Hanukkah ... and Happy 2012!

I have noticed this on the Christmas Special also. However, it seems to be the trend lately on ANYTHING produced for the parks. All the Lightship specials use the fast cut editing style that is also prevalent in the yearly planning videos.

What are you implying by "sea of white?"

I didn't really pay attention, was the editing like those annoying youtube videos where you see the person in one place, and the next frame they are in another place?

at least Duffy managed to get a decent amount of airtime (both the character, and the bears). Hopefully, it will garner enough attention that it will convince US disney parks to give the green light to release Shellie May in the US parks.

I was not aware Duffy has a girl friend. This was the first I've heard of her.

Ugh, that was baaaaad. Hype hype hype, no real news, sad attempts at comedy by the Muppets and as others have mentioned here, horrible editing.

This parade had NONE of the magic and joy of the REAL Christmas parade at Walt Disney World. Zilch, zip nada.

This is the last time I watch the Disney Christmas parade (especially if it has Muppets in it. I can no longer stand Kermit the frog. Hate the new voice, the new personality, everything.) They've gotten progressively worse over the years. When it comes to over-commercialization, it's even worse than the Macy's parade. Bleh. :(

reason why Shellie May is not too spoken about in the US is because since she's exclusive to Tokyo DisneySea, not too many know about her and her background.

I know how terrible the muppets were in the parade, it made their appearance on WWE Raw's halloween episode (which has become very PG for a couple of years) look more tolerable.

I didn't even bother to check who produced the parade ... was that Lightship too?

The choppy editing/constant cutting really annoys because you can't get a feeling for anything. A family member was watching the parade and had a question about the Soundsational parade and by the time I could look up at the float, it was gone.

It just jumps way too much and comes off amateurish, but I don't think Disney cares. :xmas:

Wow, nothing but Scrooges here.

Oh well, I made the taping, well my LSU hat did any way. I was the one waving it high when Mario Lopez was doing scenes on the side in front of the crowds towards the beginning of the show.

To be honest...

... for once, I was not 'into' the parade this year at all. BUT, my partner, enjoyed the parade more than I would have thought. We have been planning a trip for 13 years now and he is sick of hearing about Disney! Thats why I was surprised at his reaction to watch the entire parade. Maybe there is hope for him yet!? LOL

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year, my friends!
