2011 Christmas Day Parade Discussion

I didn't even bother to check who produced the parade ... was that Lightship too?

The choppy editing/constant cutting really annoys because you can't get a feeling for anything. A family member was watching the parade and had a question about the Soundsational parade and by the time I could look up at the float, it was gone.

It just jumps way too much and comes off amateurish, but I don't think Disney cares. :xmas:

I have yet to watch the Disney parade but I have to say this is exactly how I felt about the Macy's parade this year. Everytime something good was coming on they cut away.

Yes it was....I think they have an exclusive on all Disney TV specials....I could be wrong about that but there definitely IS a trend going on.

I agree with is being amateurish.

Among other things...

I was extraordinarily annoyed by the music they chose to use this year at the beginning of the parade. I don't know if they kept using that through the rest of the parade, as I stopped watching out of boredom and poor choices for celebrity appearances. But that was certainly not the normal parade music and sounded like a bad attempt to be hip. This was used instead of the usual "Once Upon A Christmastime" and "Christmas Fantasy" musics, which have been used for a few years. At least Soundsational kept its soundtrack. :sohappy:

But I digress...good to see Clarabelle Cow and Horace Horsecollar made it into the parade, albeit for about a second!

Anyone know what that music was? Perhaps from Paris?

The Very Merry Christmas Parades will never be as fun as the one's in the past.
When they showed all the new attractions & shows that were coming it was the only way to be excited of going back
Now..It's whole load of nothing even the Samantha Brown moments were well known about 2 years ago..It's really sad.

I only saw about 10 minutes of Macy's this year, so can't really comment.

But it's not the way to produce a parade ... it gets dizzying! :xmas:

The only thing i can think of is that he thinks that too many white people are a bad thing

OK, let's turn this into a giant absurd (although typical) online Disney discussion that paints me as a racist (and anti-white too, which must mean I am a self-hater -- unlike most Disney fanbois!)

For the record, I just stated an observation that I am seeing increasingly in WDW parks, but was surprised to see showcased on the telecast -- and that is the audience shown was about 98.9% white.

Whether you think this is a good thing or a bad thing or an irrelevant thing isn't the point, it was an observation and one I felt deserved mention (especially since the show had a lot of diversity among those performing). :xmas:

Anywhere I can watch this? I was in the Caribbean for the Holidays and missed it all. B&P? Burn a DVD?

Thanks,
Mike

Gee, here I was all annoyed because our local ABC network decided to air a locally sponsored religious program instead of the Disney Parade. Sounds as if I didn't miss much.

It was what it was. It served its purpose. Some here did not like it because they viewed it as nothing but a commercial for the parks, which is what it's purpose is. I enjoyed 95% of it. My kids really enjoyed it and that's what matters most to me.

Yup, and some here seem to forget that the general public doesn't keep up with Disney's every move. The info and clips shown were likely news to a great deal of people.
