2010 vacation

My husband And I are planning a trip & were wondering how many days/ nights we should spend at WDW? We don't want to go to any of the water parks just all the other parks & fire works. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks:)

Well, we are like you, we don't do the water parks and we always try to do a 7 day trip. That gives us plenty of time to thoroughly enjoy all 4 parks and have a at least a day to 'rest' if we like to-(i.e. stay at the pool, sleep in, go shopping at DTD,etc)

I'm guessing this is your first trip the World?

I would say as many as you can. That way you don't need to feel rushed or stressed about getting too much in one day. You can just take your time and have fun.

This is our first trip and we want to make sure we go with plenty of days as needed to get all four parks in plus whatever else we can fit in there. We were thinking 7 days 6 night stay.. What are some of the things that We must see while there?

7 days should do for you! We usually do a 7 or 8 day, which includes a day or two to resort hop and relax whether that is shopping, or spending it by the pool.

As for things that you must do see, I believe it is all up to you and what your tastes are, do you like thrill rides? Are you a show person? Etc. If you could give us that, I am sure we can come up with some answers for you.

As long as you can get off work and can afford. I agree with the above posters. A week is a good length, you wont feel to rushed to see everything. It also depends on when you go if it will be super busy or a more quieter time. Higher crowd levels will make your seeing everything a lot more time consuming.

Our OCt trip we are doing 11 nights. We like to do others things as well, SeaWorld, UNiversal a trip to the beach and just not feel rushed.

So its really up to you, since its your first time, go slow, stay as long as you can and get fully absorbed in the atmosphere, you will only see the castle from main street for the first time ONCE, so savor it and relax and have fun.

We are planning to do the trip there at the beg. of December or the End of October. Trying to see what is the better times to go. We do like the thrill rides and want to see show's & also the fireworks. But would like to know what are the best and worst to see. i was interested in the Halloween lights and what not and then I was also interested in the Christmas lightings. Is the park hopper something we should get or should we just do the one park a day type thing?

You can't do Halloween and Christmas lights at the same time:(. I have never been during Halloween and that will change this year. The Christmas lights are nice. However, I want to go when we can enjoy the pool a couple of times. It has been too cold that last times we went in Nov/Dec.

The XMas lights are incredible. You cannot go wrong with that. If you go during either of these times, be sure to go to MNSSHP or MVMCP.

So if I were to go in Nov or Dec it would most likely be too cold for the pools/ water parks? How would October be weather wise? Now what is MNSSHP or MVMCP? haha I should just look it up..

Both times of year are amazing to visit, and have lower crowds. December from my experience is hit or miss with weather. I went the first week of December in 2006, and some days we did use the pool, other days it was a little cooler. It just depends on what happens the week you are there.

7-10 days is a good amount of time, depending on how much time you can get off of work. If there's holiday activities going on, you'll want to do the parks, see the holiday special things, and have some down time.

MVMCP is a separate ticketed event, taking place in the evening at The Magic Kingdom around holiday time. You'll have to purchase a separate ticket, besides the park ticket. It's really fun! They make it "snow" on main street. All the characters are in their holiday gear. There's numerous stations where you can get free cocoa & cookies. I think it's worth doing.

I've never done MNSSHP, but it is also a separate ticketed event at the Magic Kingdom and is around Halloween time on certain dates. I think there's a special parade/fireworks display, and a trick or treating type thing. Someone who has been there will be able to tell you more. I was at Disneyland for Halloween this year, and if it's anything like that, it's also a very unique time to visit. Decorations were fantastic, and we had a lot of fun! October will most likely be warmer than December. :)

We went Oct 17-24 last year. The weather was really nice. It was hot the first day then got colder for a few days. We wore jeans and jackets on our 2nd day and jackets the morning of the 3rd day. After that it got hot again. We went to Typhoon Lagoon on our 4th morning. By the end of the trip we were wearing shorts and tank tops durning the day and capris and t-shirts at night. I do suggest a park hopper only for the fact that the MK closes at 7 on nights there is a party. (there were 4 while we were there) We would hop over to whatever park was open the latest. We didn't go to the party last year because we had gone before and we decided to do the water park in it's place. We had a blast when we went before. Everyone's costumes that we saw were great. I highly recommend going. You will need to either order the tickets ahead of time or take the chance that they will still have them the day of.

I've also been in early Dec. It was beautiful. The weather was a little chilly so we didn't use the pool even though they are heated. It didn't help that my daughter ended up with strep throat and scarlet fever while we were there. The Christmas party was so much fun. I loved seeing it snow on Main Street.

Happy planning!

For you two... I say Port Orleans Riverside for moderate, or Wilderness Lodge for a deluxe.... if you HAVE to stay value I say POP. Oh, and I dont think the cabins would be good, horrible bus system and lots of time wasted getting from cabin to park/food/etc. I will warn you, once u stay mod or deluxe, it may be hard to move down a resort level... so choose wisely :)

As for the dining plan, I dont think it is worth it to pay for it unless you plan on eating ALOT and are willing to take enough time every day to have a table service meal for one meal each day. Now, if the free dining plan comes out for the dates you guys are looking at then obviously have it added for free!

(I couldnt hold back anymore Jen! haha)
