What's the reasoning with Beckett going in Game 2 and not Lester?

Basically to keep the rotation in order.

Lester, Dice-K, Beckett.

So, with Dice-K going first...Beckett goes second, and Lester third. (Plus, I believe that lines him up for a potential Game 7)

Game 1: Dice-K
Game 2: Beckett
Game 3: Lester
Game 4: Wakefield
Game 5: Dice-K
Game 6: Beckett
Game 7: Lester

go phillies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw you on fan-o-vision!!!! HAHA!

OMG that game was amazing. I had goosebumps! I'm so torn because I want there to be a game 6 so I can go and experience that atmosphere again...but I don't want the series to have to go to game 6....It was worth every penny.

I was so excited I got to see Greg Maddux pitch an inning. He's always been my hero.

I'm pulling for the Dodgers. Not only did they knock out my team, they have two of my favorite players on the team--Nomar Garciapara (although he hasn't been playing) and Greg Maddux. Go DODGERS!

Let's go Red Sox!

Two things though.

1- Where did all of these Rays fans come from? I never met a single Rays fan when I lived in Florida.

2- I would kill for a US feed of the game right now. I'm watching a Dominican Republic Directv feed right now, and it's absolutely awful. It's like watching a crappy 15 year old VHS dubbed into Spanish and dubbed back into English (by pressing SAP). Albeit I am amused by the green screen homeplate ad for Claro Mobile and Presidente Beer.

Same place all the Red Sox fans came from. Winning breeds mass followers from people who never cared before.

Ahh, thanks Scott.

re: your comment... I figured the larger population of New England compared to the I4 corridor (14 million v. 7 million) and the longer history of the Red Sox compared to the Devil Rays would have had something to do with it.

As well as the large number of displaced native New Englanders, like myself :)

Two outstanding games in this series so far, keeping you on the edge of your seat the entire game.

Between the tension and the lack of sleep, this series is gonna kill me.

Wow...what a game. These two teams are going to lay everything out on the field.

Congrats TB!

Why would there be a huge Sox following in Florida? :lookaroun

Not for nothing...but "winning" isn't necessarily the reasoning behind the Sox fans. I remember going to sold out games when I was a child (back in the days of Marty Barrett and Dwight Evans) and that was WELL before they won a World Series in 2004.

Sure, the NESN network has invented "The Nation" but that was for TV ratings.

Youk, Pedroia, and Bay really came alive last night for you. I'm sure both dugouts are scratching their heads over the ineffectiveness of Beckett and Kazmir. I understand that Beckett could be struggling with the oblique issue, but I can't figure Kazmir out. Maybe he can't take the pressure of the big game.

Game 3 should be interesting too. Lester vs. Garza. If Garza is on, we're gonna have another nail-biter pitching duel.

The large amount of displaced New Englanders should have something to do with it. When I lived in FL, I never had a problem finding a group of Red Sox fans to go watch a game with.

Bay has been on fire all along...it was AWESOME to see Pedy wake up finally. Now...if Papi can get back in the "swing" of things (yes, PUN TOTALLY INTENDED)...we should be ok.

I am mentally and physically exhausted after watching these games. I think I have had 23 heart attacks in 20 innings

EDIT: I'll also add...Tampa Bay is now my "must go to game." It was the Yankees...but not anymore...Tampa Bay/Red Sox games are so exciting!!!

Scotty...I'll have a drink with you in my head...during Game 3 :)

As a die-hard Pirates fan (and, really, what other kind of Pirates fan can there be?), I am really glad that Jason Bay is doing so well. Either the Rays or the Sox can win and it would be fine, but Bay deserves some post season play for once!!
