1986 - The House of the Future: Week 3

Outbound

My vote still goes to Seasonal Fantasyland. Here's my pitch...

Winter (Fantasyland Courtyard)
  • Snow White Walkthrough in the Castle
  • Frozen Dark Ride
  • A Second Princess Dark Ride or Maybe a Fantasy Show Within the Courtyard
  • The Seasonal Tree Carrousel (connecting all the seasons)
Fall (To the Left of the Courtyard)
  • Frozen II theming
  • Nightmare Before Christmas Attraction
  • Mary Poppins or Onward maybe, though both may be too modern.
Spring (To the Right of the Courtyard)
  • Pastoral Symphony
  • Bambi
  • Robin Hood or Tangled
Summer (On the Far Side of the Courtyard)
  • Hercules and Greek Mythology Subland
  • Original Mountain E-Ticket, Hercules Dark Ride, Pegasus Dumbo... you get the idea
This gives the central theme of seasons but also the mythology theme we discussed earlier. Each season would feel distinct and have its own collection of unique rides and themes.

THIS!

This is a perfect idea, it could be sort of a fantasy fair with the rides being sort of an exhibition of each princess realm like the world showcase.

It also would be the perfect example of showcasing what architecture we can pull off.

I'm thinking of having a small town between the two with castle walls. It would still get that classic Fantasyland feel while going with something revolutionary and exciting!
Maybe one half is a small town (Hunchback, Dalmatians) and the other is an enchanted forest (NBC, Frozen, etc.)

Here’s my pitch for the forest part if we want to go in that direction.

Nightmare Before Christmas dark ride where guests enter by the trees (that transport you to Halloweentown)

Frozen 2 attraction that takes place in the Enchanted Forest.

Robin Hood’s Hideout

Bambi walkthrough attraction

Rapunzel’s tower or the Snuggly Duckling

Princess and the Frog Bayou attraction or Mama Odie transformation show (?)

Colors of the Wind show?

Subland:
Thebes from Hercules

If we were to go this way, it would make sense to have the forest side be closer to the castle (since Snow White is German and spends a large chunk of time in the forest).

The only concern with having a potentially large forest area would be transitioning to Tomorrowland

Maybe our Tomorrowland could be about Green Energy? Shanghai’s Tomorrowland has a ton of trees and it’s one of the best!

That is one of the perks of a forest sub-land. So many possibilities for that area.

As for my thoughts, A Castle Courtyard spring festival would be a good place for a Sword in the Stone spinner and a "classic princess" dark ride centered around Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty.

Meanwhile, a winter village could be a good place for slightly more modern (in terms of setting) stories like Mary Poppins or One Hundred and One Dalmatians. Frozen could even fit in here, thanks to the snowy locale.

There has to be a Topsy Turvy day celebration show! Or that could be implemented into a Hunchback attraction.

These are great IPs but I’m not sure all of them work. Thebes and PATF seem out of place for a forest area.

I think we shouldn’t really work on IP yet and focus on more of the backstory and land description first since that kinda leads us into the IP choices we could use. But that’s just my two cents

For sure. Once we settle on how we want to realize Fantasyland and what sorts of sub-lands it might have, the IPs will more naturally spring up from there.

Thebes was always more of a sub land, which wouldn’t be associated with the forest area. I just included it so y’all know that’s what I’m thinking.
