This is sort of slightly 100% OT, but this is where I am right now:

It’s Canyonlands National Park.

You magnificent S.O.B. congrats on the travel! I'm in the planning stages of doing a weekend trip to Lagoon in late October. Not to start anything political here, but I'm sick of living in fear. Travel is in my blood, and not having any trips to look forward to has been an absolute moral killer and would have most definitely caused me to hit a wall had it not been for SYWTBAI.

I see nothing wrong with a vacation provided that you and the place you are staying have safety measures in place to keep from limiting your exposure.

Question of the Day
What is your favorite land archetype? Is it Small Town Nostalgia of Main Street U.S.A or the mystery of Adventureland? Is it the legendary Old West Frontierland or the promise of the future from Tomorrowland? Maybe it's the fairytale environment of Fantasyland or the small lived in New Orleans Square and Liberty Square? Or is it something else?

I love Tomorrowland's theme and how much variety there is with it!

You can do modern sci-fi tropes and 50s pulp action and steam punk and 80s EPCOT and a cartoony space adeventure. There's so many options and angles to take it (or to haphazardly blend together with no direction or focus like WDW's 4 year+ ongoing refresh)

Though the other lands do have good themes and memorable rides, I really like the archetype of Main Street U.S.A. It has a real warmth and charm to it, capturing that feeling of a nostalgic memory. It may not have any of the usual attractions (though it wouldn't hurt to see at least one ride there...), but it works so well as a tone-setter when you first arrive at a castle park.

Definitely Fantasyland. The charm it has is just so special to me. Every little thing about it just fills my heart up with joy.

After so long stuck at home, travel is crucial for mental and even physical health. I toured Utah’s five magnificent National Parks, plus Grand Canyon from the less-frequented north side. Very much worth it! I’ve returned home just this instance a little early since one of those SoCal wildfires keeps on intermittently threatening my house (it’s about one mile away), which was too much stress added to a road trip.

With more time, I had half a mind of continuing north into Wyoming’s National Parks, which would’ve taken me straight past Lagoon...and I was considering a visit. I’ll let you know the next time I make it that way and we’ll try a duo Lagoon trip!

Wholly agreed, obviously! The National Parks seem like the ideal coronavirus vacation. You’re outdoors the entire time, sometimes with a mile’s worth of social distancing. I researched precautions and took them. Stuck to my car or the great outdoors mostly. Wiped down common surfaces in motels at night. Ate cooler food from home, plus occasional carry out enjoyed in picnic grounds. Avoided crowds. If anyone here has a taste for nature, and for hiking a minimum of 6 miles every day, I highly recommend such an outing!

First one is an easy one:
Who are you?
Hi everybody my name is technically @tcool123 , but I go by tcool. Once upon time, many moons ago my account was @tcool but through a series of unfortunate events I uhhhh couldn't access it anymore 😅
I have been using these forums since 2014? Maybe earlier? But basically from Day One came here to this very imagineering forum to start doing well competing in my first imagineering competition, Sorcerer's Apprentice Season 2. I ended up in sixth place that season and went on to compete in many competitions afterwards and even hosted/cojudged a few since then.

In more recent years school has become my top priority. Currently go to school and dorm about 15 minutes max from any of the major Orlando theme parks. Needless to say I have gotten use outta my annual passes. I come and go a lot, but always try to check back in here for the forums. While the people have changed a lot it is nice to see newer members continue using that one little spark to fuel these forums for years to come.

Some tidbits about me:
  • Favorite Disney film is Hunchback, and Coco is my favorite Pixar film.
  • I'm a proud Cuban American and gay too so that makes mingling with my religious conservative homophobic side of the family flavorful 🤩
  • Favorite park (out of the ones Ive been to) is likely Studios due to the Classic Hollywood theming present throughout the park
  • Owner of a Nintendo Switch, and my favorite game on the console is Fire Emblem: Three Houses
  • Uhhhhhh I really liked the Netflix show Elite and currently watching RuPaul's Drag Race: Vegas Revue
  • Also not a big Mac & Cheese person, wasn't raised on it and don't really consider it real food. There I said it, gotta stir up the pot 😤
    • Also don't like Cheez-Its, more of a Goldfish Cracker person myself
Sign Ups that were previously announced for September 20th will be commencing imminently.

With that in mind, today's Question of the Day
Will you be playing?
Uh is there still room left?
If so count me in :D

WHOOPS guess Ima sit this one out just kept reading on ☠

The first part of the game involves building a castle park. With that said, what is your favorite land in any castle park?
Toy Story Playland Adventureland, I feel like there is so much untapped potential with this land. With adventure being such a broad term so much could work in here. Films set in modern times like Coco fit with the Land of the Dead aesthetic, films that are more fictional like Atlantis: Lost Empire fit the whole explorer/colonization vibe parts of the land has, animal based films, princess films like Moana and ALaddin, etc. The possible environment of Adventureland is always interesting and dependent on the castle park is different which I love.

The steampunk elements of Discoveryland are something that sticks out to me. I think steampunk could be a fun archetype to play around with, and maybe combine it with Frontierland? An eccentric Jules Verne Western aesthetic could revitalize the frontier aspect for guests making it more fantastical, while allowing for more styles of rides being incorporated.
