Question of the day: With the departures of @spacemt354 and @Pufflefan, I just wanted to do a check-in on how everyone else is feeling. The fact that there hasn't been any active brainstorming in the House of the Future thread since Puff's post really has me paranoid that all the momentum we built up is going to grind to a halt, and I want to do everything in my power to prevent that. Is there ANYTHING we as hosts can do to make this game more accommodating? Consider this an airing of grievances.

It's a little stressful having big projects with a very large group in a short time. Especially since large groups tend to make brainstorming and planning difficult. And you said it yourself in the podcast, the game was designed to create tension between the cast members. But the upside of a big group is that once things are settled with the plan, the actual work is easy to do quickly since everyone has relatively little roles.

I think that just by the nature of having less people coupled with the brainstorming being over the weekends will make future rounds less stressful. If we start with anything larger than a single land for a prompt, more than 4 days might be needed. Though I understand that is difficult with the week by week schedule keeping it regular.

The only other "grievance" I'll mention is that Podcast only reviews from our hosts can be a bit disheartening at times. In the first round about half the groups work got breezed past really quickly in favor of focusing almost solely on the attractions and night shows. Which for a Main Street to skim past the dining and shopping (the main points of the land) was a little frustrating. But that's sort of what happens with podcasts since they are more about discussion on highlights and expanded thoughts rather than full reviews. They're an amazing compliment to written reviews, but they can be tough being the only reviews. Even if you do short bullet point style reviews (maybe even split up and you both do half the project or something), written reviews would add a lot and help make everyone feel noticed and raise morale and make it easier to quickly reference points made in previous reviews while working on future rounds. And posting important stuff at the same time as the podcast. I'm not usually watching them live and almost every podcast I've felt out of the loop until I had a free hour to watch it. I wouldn't have even known I was nominated for a while if Space hadn't message me a head's up. Again, the podcasts are amazing and the big focus on them and the radio plays give this game a great unique flair, but I think the written aspects on announcements and reviews does need a bit more focus too. Even just very short, quick ones.

I think this is very much something we can do. Having important updates posted as they are announced and posting bullet point reviews is definitely possible, especially for Head of Household rounds.

@Pi on my Cake if I ever hear you say "yeet" again I am going to yeet you out of this competition

I legitimately had to Google what it meant because I thought it would be funny to force myself to use dumb "trendy" (somewhat already out of date) slang while talking about a dumb show that was forced to be "trendy" lol.

What's sad is Steps in Time is a genuinely cool name, it could easily fit anything and yet it got tagged onto this strange show and will probably never be used as a name for any Disney product, not even one based on Mary Poppins, ever again.

It was a great name! If the show wasn't so laughably and distractingly bizarre I would be so angry about how many elements had amazing potential and were squandered or wasted like that

Oh yeah for sure, on the bright side I'm pretty sure there's a few Disney cruise shows (specifically Disney Dreams, which is the most generic name ever) that have similar plot elements at least. Just done way better and an adult actor for the child characters.

The fandom does not talk enough about how good some of the cruise shows are. Disney Dreams, Twice Charmed, Believe, Tangled, and The Golden Mickeys are outstanding pieces of Disney storytelling and theatre

I'll check it out!
It's pretty good from what I remember seeing on youtube. Another similar one looking around that the disney cruises have is Disney's Believe (Disney why are you like this), though the summary is a bigger stretch for a connection to Steps in Time compared to the Dreams show:

With the help of the Genie from Aladdin and a host of Disney;s most beloved magic makers, Dr. Greenway learns that magic is real and appears every day in the form of his beloved daughter, Sophia.

Oh yeah for sure, the Dreams show is great and I really want to check and see if the others are on youtube now. They're quite intriguing plots! Maybe I will give mini reviews here along the way. Only part I don't like is the VERY generic names a lot of them have.

I'd love to see mini reviews! Both because I love hearing your thoughts on things and because it would help me know which of the "Disney's Noun" shows are worth checking out!
