Christmas at Blue Sky Disneyland!

The holidays at Blue Sky Disneyland are simply magical. A divine combination of classic Disney magic and Christmas magic that creates one of the most beloved times of year for Disney parks fans across the world. Blue Sky Disneyland is no exception with lights, shows, and decorations that make this seasonal celebration so great.

Harbor Town U.S.A: Old Fashioned Christmas

The Christmas magic begins in Harbor Town U.S.A as guests can find the typical lights and large tree found in most castle park entrances during Christmas time. But, this land is unique in the fact that the time period lays ground for something especially unique aspects of this old fashioned Christmas.

Townsfolk roam the streets singing carols and telling tales of Christmas’s of years’ past. Every night, snow falls and covers the ground as Christmas performers fill the streets and sing holiday favorites like “Sleigh Ride” and “Home for the Holidays”.

Even the Muppets get in on the holiday fun from the windows of the theater housing “The Muppets Present Hamilton”! Kermit the Frog (Alexander Hamilton), Gonzo (Aaron Burr), Fozzie (Thomas Jefferson), and Miss Piggy (Eliza Schuyler) sing an assortment of Christmas songs in the rap style of Hamilton like Jingle Bells, Deck the Halls, and more. Fozzie even sings a rendition of “All I Want For Christmas is You” in the style of “You’ll Be Back”.

Port Voyage: Christmas Shows

The magic continues into Port Voyage as the newest show-stopping Christmas spectacular premieres on yet another Disney castle! “Sound of Christmas” brings projections and lights together to craft an intricate light show to get you into the spirit of the season! Jimeney Cricket invites us on a journey to seek out the many types of Christmas tunes that can bring us all together from “Feliz Navidad” told through clips from Coco and The Three Cabelleros, “Mele Kalikimaka” with clips from Lilo and Stitch and Moana, and more!

A brand new stage show is also coming to the castle: “A Goofy Christmas”. Join Goofy on a quest to find the perfect gift for his son, Max. After trying out certain gift ideas like a snow day (Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow), a fancy new toy (Toyland), or even a vacation (Home for the Holidays”, he finally settles on tickets to a Powerline concert. Powerline performs “Run Run Rudolph” as Max declares that all he wants is to spend time with his father this Christmas. Goofy and Max decide to spend their Christmas with the rest of the gang enjoying each other’s company.

CenterCore Expo: Wall-E Holiday

Wall-E Holidays (a spin on Jolly Holidays) turns CenterCore Expo into a holiday wonderland as our favorite lovable robot, Wall-E, takes center stage.

A new stage show premieres in which Wall-E and Eve (audio animatronics) spend their first Christmas together and Wall-E plans to plant the first Christmas tree back on Earth. In “Charlie Brown” style, the tree ends up smaller than expected but Eve appreciates the gesture and they share a robotic kiss.

Adventure Atoll: Exotic Holiday

Adventure Atoll gets a few lights here as well as Christmas merchandise! Even exotic Christmas Trees are spread out around the land.

Four Winds Square: Crafty Christmas

Four Winds Square and Small World gets a makeover to create a celebration called “Crafty Christmas” where the festivities of the holidays are looked at from the mind of a child! Makeshift presents and ornaments are spread around as large Gingerbread men and women are placed around the land!

The Grand American: Holiday Bash!

A lavish party is thrown at the Grand American! Franklin Keys’ annual Christmas Ball is one you won’t want to miss as you can sing and dance the night away. Even the lobby is filled to the brim with holiday decorations!

Disney Quarter: New Orleans Christmas

Disney Quarter is also themed to a New Orleans Christmas as the three districts are decked out in Christmas decorations!

Overall, Christmas is something special at Blue Sky Disneyland and it’s something no one will want to miss!

MICKEY'S CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION
BY OUTBOUND

1605244066417.png

Santa Claus is a hard worker. Every year, without break, he delivers toys and treats to all the good children around the world. Frankly, it's about time he gets the vacation he deserves.

But while Santa heads over to Orlando to ride Avatar 6: The Ride™ (coming out 30 years before the film) who will pick up the slack and host a marvelous Christmas for Blue Sky Disneyland? Mickey and Pals, of course! What could possibly go wrong?

All around the resort, ceremonial reefs and lights have been hung in celebration for this season of cheer. Christmas Jingles play throughout the park. And three sensational Christmas Trees are filled with ornaments of all shapes and sizes: one tree rests in Port Voyage, another in Adubudon Park at DisneyQuarter, and a third in the main gardens of Disney's Grand American.

Beyond these resort-wide accommodations, here are a few specific things you'll find at your day during Mickey's Christmas Celebration. Mickey has tasked each of his pals to be responsible for a certain task in celebration, determined to prove to Santa that he can take a break one year and let the House of Mouse handle Christmas.

CHRISTMAS LIVE!
GOOFY, CHIP, AND DALE

1605245637924.png

All around the resort, audio-speakers are tuned into the finest radio station at Blue Sky Disneyland: Christmas Live! Hosted by Goofy, Chip, Dale, this 24-hr broadcast features merry Christmas Carols and chipper Hannuakh Tunes. After each song, Goofy, Chip, and Dale have a pre-recorded silly conversation before jumping to the next song. This in itself is an extended 3-hour loop.

At one point, Christmas Live is taken over by Hannuakh Live!, with guest host Adam Sandler joining the crew to sing some Hannuakh Songs.

Guests will hear Christmas Live whenever they pass by most stores in Disneyland and DisneyQuarter. They can also tune in at their hotel rooms, and even download the Christmas Live app to listen wherever they are: even back at home! Wherever you are, this will surely be a merry way of enjoying the holidays.

PLUTO'S PRESENT HUNT
PLUTO

1605248551498.png

Pluto was asked by Mickey to deliver some early presents from the North Pole back to Blue Sky Disneyland. Unfortunately, he dropped the presents just as he was returning, scattering them around the resort. He needs your help to find them!

Pluto's Present Hunt is a free AR mobile app accessible for all to play. You'll need to find 30 presents, scattered randomly (so no looking for answers online) around the resort. Approximately 15 will be in Blue Sky Disneyland, another 10 in DisneyQuarter, and the other 5 around the various hotels near the lagoon. Approximate locations for each present are provided, but you will have to journey yourself to these locations to find and collect them for Pluto. This game is not meant to be specifically difficult, but rather a fun collection game for families that encourages exploration around all of Blue Sky Disneyland Resort.

Finding all 30 presents rewards an exclusive Christmas Pin, available at the Disney Pin Store within the French Quarter.

CLASSIC CHRISTMAS TALES
THE MUPPETS

1605245936487.png

The Muppets host this live puppet show at the center square of French Quarter. Inspired by Great Moments in American History, Kermit attempts to lead the group in a retelling of classic holiday tales, but they quickly jump off-script. Each show is dedicated to one tale, with them happening frequently enough for a guest seated in Cafe Louis to catch all in one day.

ROWLF THE RED-NOSED DOG
Rowlf as the Red-Nosed Dog
Scooter as Hermey the Elf
Miss Pig as the Head Elf
Sweetums as the Abominable Snowman

HOW STATLER AND WALDORF STOLE CHRISTMAS
Statler and Waldorf as Themselves
Sweetums as the Unlucky Reindeer
Robin as Young Child
Fozzie Bear as Annoying Singer

MISS PIGGY LEAVES ROBIN HOME ALONE
Robin as Himself
Lew Zealand as the Burglar
Miss Piggy as Herself
Bobo the Bear as Friendly Musician

MICKEY MOUSE: SANTA'S HELPER
MICKEY AND PLUTO

1605253203140.png

As Santa's Helper, Mickey is responsible this year to manage what children want for Christmas. Come to the front of Snow White Castle and meet Mickey, clad in Santa Robes, and Pluto for an exclusive Meet and Greet experience.

IT'S A SMALL WORLD HOLIDAY
CHILDREN OF THE WORLD

1605248079315.png

Four Winds Square celebrates the Holiday Spirit, with its opening facade completely decked with colored lights and effects that rival the greatest competitors of the Great Christmas Light Fight. Inside, the ceiling has become a twinkling of shining stars, marking the path of Santa's journey around the world.

But the attractions are where the biggest changes lie. Small World, One Song nows has the various animals signing holiday folk-songs specific to the culture they represent. Meanwhile, It's a Small World features a Santa Claus animatronic in every room delivering presents. As it turns out, our boat route around the world isn't all that different from Santa's sleigh route!

HOLIDAYS FLORAL PARADE
MINNIE AND DAISY

1605248928871.png

Minnie and Daisy have worked hard to bring one of the most ambitious parades to a Disneyland Park: the Holidays Floral Parade, made to look entirely out of organic material. For budget reasons, this parade cannot be actually organic like the iconic Rose Bowl Parade, as the floats would decompose within a few days. However, this doesn't stop the parade from appearing entirely organic, going as far as to mimic the smells of roses and floral pedals.

Each float is themed to a different Disney character, with the final float representing good friends Minnie and Daisy.

A FESTIVUS FOR THE REST OF US
DONALD, HUEY, DEWEY, AND LOUIE

Festivus.jpg

When Mickey told everyone to prepare for the 25th, Donald misheard him and thought he said "23rd". As a result, Donald prepared for Festivus rather than Christmas and is now ready to share with us his new favorite Holiday. Also present? Huey, Dewey, and Louie, spending the holidays at Donald's place under the impression they would be celebrating Christmas, not this weird new holiday. Donald sets out to celebrate Festivus and show his nephews -- and us in the audience -- why it is so great.

tumblr_ozqn8w7tBf1wftpjoo1_400.gif

First, it's time for the Airing of Grievances, where Donald sings about how much a nuisance Goofy is. Next is the Feats of Strength, where Donald has three audience volunteers tag-team with Huey, Dewey, or Louie in various challenges. Finally, there's the Raising of the Pole, where the winner of the Feats of Strength is given the opportunity to formally begin the great holiday of Festivus.

Overall, this live, outdoor show in Port Voyage is sure to be a comedy hit.
Please don't take this part seriously... though TBH I would pay to see this.

MICKEY'S CHRISTMAS FINALE
EVERYONE

1605251816822.png

Everything has been building to this moment. As the day at Blue Sky Disneyland comes to an end, everyone gathers at Port Voyage to watch the ending to this day at Mickey's Christmas Celebration.

Christmas Carols are sung and the whole gang gets together. Finally, it's time for Santa's Sleigh to fly overhead.

A giant cable has been attached between the Grand American and Snow White's Castle. This cable, flying over the lagoon, will hold a replica of Santa's Sleigh, simulating a real flight. During the day, the thin wire will be slightly visible, but not intrusive. At night, it will be impossible to spot.

giphy.gif

The Sleigh launches from the roof of the Grand American and flies over the Lagoon as climatic music plays. All around the resort guests watch as the flying sled makes its way towards the Castle. It then flies past, where the lights dim (and this Sleigh Replica, its job finished, is moved to a backstage area) when the Sleigh returns on the ground (really a second Sleigh) to deliver free party bags to every child nearby. Manning the Sleigh is Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, who has agreed to take Santa's role for this year's Christmas.

Mickey and Gang have done it! Despite a few hiccups here or there, they have successfully hosted this Christmas without Santa, giving him a much-deserved vacation. And good that next year he'll be back to usual... after all this ordeal, Mickey needs a vacation himself!

Holiday Magic at 1986 Park!

There are many key aspects of Holiday Magic:

The Holiday BASH

ChristmasCastle.png

Join Mickey and Friends in the Port Voyage for fireworks in sync with everyone's favourite holiday songs!

Reindeer Explorer Trails

ChristmasAfricaRockForest.jpg.png

Deep on the Maara Ataahua Trails, Santa lost his reindeer! Guests exploring the trails are sure to find a few AA Reindeer playing around in the area!

Summer Festival - Santa's Getaway

SantaVacation.png

Santa is a very busy man this time of year but with all of his hard work he definitely has earned a few vacation days! Like most, Santa gets tired of all that cold weather so looks for the nice warm areas of Seasons of Fantasy's Summer Festival to relax and warm up before going back to the North Pole!

Santa's Village At Winter Mountain

Santa'sVillage.png

Guests have now seen where Santa relaxes from all his hard work but now they get to see his hard work! Holiday Village in Winter Mountain of Seasons of Fantasy gets transformed into Santa's Village. Here, guests can see Santa's toy workshop, a reindeer petting zoo, and, of course, meet Jolly Ol' St. Nick.

30 Winds Square

ChristmasSmall World.png

It's a Small World came from the New York's World Fair. There is nothing more iconic in New York at Christmas time than the Rockefeller Christmas tree. A similar tree that matches the Rockefeller tree is placed on the small land in front of the It's a Small World facade to tie back to it's roots. The lights of the tree will correspond with the lights on the show on the facade to tie it all together.

Holidays At Sea

SantaParade.png

No holiday celebration is complete without a parade! Re-skinning the current Harbortown parade, Sea of Wonder, guests can find a nighttime parade spectacular with Santa, Rudolph, Mrs. Claus, Gingerbread Men, and more!

Blues Skies on a Merry Christmas!

The “Happiest Place on Earth” gets just a bit cheerier when the holidays arrive at the Blu Sky Disney Resort! All around the resort, the signs of Christmas are everywhere, adding a festive flavor during the most wonderful time of the year!

Harbortown USA: An old-fashioned Christmas has come to Harbortown, and even a cold New England winter can’t dampen the warmth of the season! The States Market becomes a gathering ground for a variety of holiday treats, such as figgy pudding and wassail, brought in from all over the country. Plus, you may see some traditional Carolers walking around town, filling the air with their joyous songs.

nantucket-stroll-carolers-galvin-720x456.jpg

Port Voyage: A new seasonal show arrives for the nighttime spectacular, with Magic of the Season. Witness as Charlie feels herself losing the Christmas spirit, only for classic Disney characters to help show that you’re never too old for the kindness and generosity in this time of year. In addition, the “Winter Waves” parade offers a seafaring spin on a classic Christmas parade, like Moana leading a raft carrying all sorts of gifts.

disneyland-paris-christmas-parade-16.jpg

Adventure Atoll: Motu Wairua has found the Christmas spirit among its wonders, with red and green decorations brought to the towns from a merchant ship transporting holiday goods. In addition, the Maara Aatahua walking trails see themselves with a wintry layer of snow among the scenery.

Christmas-tree-and-banner-Jingle-Cruise-Adventureland-Magic-Kingdom-Walt-Disney-World.jpg

Seasons of Fantasy: No matter the season, the Christmas season is all around! The Season Tree at the very center is adorned with Disney Character ornaments, with characters to reflect each specific season sub-land. London Spring sees some snow left from a late winter and the Summer Festival will have some red and green banners and decorations to celebrate. Meanwhile, the Fall Forest sees Jack Skellington and his friends bringing their demented vision of Christmas to the woods, while Winter Mountain’s holiday village becomes a place to meet the big man himself: Santa Claus!

Nightmare-Before-Christmas-Trivia-Quiz.jpg

Santa-Critter-COuntry.jpg

Four Winds Square: Christmas is a time of goodwill and peace on Earth, and what better place to see that than the Four Winds Square! The exterior façade is adorned with colorful decorations to catch the eye, and that same spirit can be seen when you step inside. Stories Around the World gains some additional signage that discusses different ways that people celebrate Christmas all around the world, while “it’s a small world” gains a festive overlay that delights with holiday celebrations and greetings seen across the globe.

its-a-small-world-holiday-bright-16x9.jpg

CenterCore Expo: Even the steps of progress can never forget the holiday season, as the lightbulb of the Inventionarium theater takes on the look of a snowglobe via projection effects. In addition, Wall-E has a santa hat on and some garland tangled up around himself, trying his best to join in on the festivities.

51TyfoNgrcL._AC_.jpg

Grand American: Franklin Keys had made the Grand American as a place to dream, and the dreams of the holidays are no different. A grand Christmas tree is set outside for guests to witness, tall and adorned with all sorts of brilliantly colored lights. Mickey Mouse and his friends wear their wintry best when attending meals at the Golden Flickers Studio Café, while the American Hustlers at the Water Tower Club will surround guests with the sounds of jazz covers to Christmas classic in addition to holidays drinks (like peppermint schnapps and eggnog) being added to the menu. Sometimes, guests might even find a present waiting for them after an exciting day at the park.

christmas_trees_new_york_palace_1.jpg

NS017295.6.jpg

Disney Quarter: The Big Easy gets big on the Christmas spirit, as the French Quarter finds the air filled with big jazz covers of Christmas music. The Antebellum architecture of Audubon Park sees festive holiday decorations adorning them, and even the bayou by City Park sees Christmas lights strung among the swamp trees. Even Redbone’s Mausoleum of Magic finds the Christmas spirit hitting hard, with plenty of Nightmare Before Christmas merch to buy.

Disney Quarter
  • Starting off, I really love how you set this up. It was simple, but effective.
  • Those maps were amazing! They were simple to follow and were really helpful in the realism aspect of it all.
  • The theme of New Orleans is great! I personally love the whole vibe of New Orleans so I was really excited when you all picked it.
  • French Quarter was very fun. It stayed true to that Southern culture and the food which is really something that I really loved about it.
  • Each of the shops and restaurants worked very well together and led to a great district.
  • Audubon Park was another very well done district and really highlighted the fine dining of that section
  • Out of the four TS restaurants, The Paddlewheeler was my favorite for its charm and that it actually moves!
  • As for City Park, I really had a hard time with the theme on this one. It felt a little messy and not very well planned out
  • The content itself was great, but I think it could’ve been more polished up just show the urban-bayou theme better
  • Overall, this was a very solid project. If I had to nitpick, it would be that each section had a little consistency issues with the writing as some went from really long to really short. But, that is just a nitpick. You guys did amazing!
