MICKEY'S CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION
BY OUTBOUND
Santa Claus is a hard worker. Every year, without break, he delivers toys and treats to all the good children around the world. Frankly, it's about time he gets the
vacation he deserves.
But while Santa heads over to Orlando to ride
Avatar 6: The Ride™ (
coming out 30 years before the film) who will pick up the slack and host a marvelous Christmas for Blue Sky Disneyland?
Mickey and Pals, of course! What could possibly go wrong?
All around the resort, ceremonial reefs and lights have been hung in celebration for this season of cheer. Christmas Jingles play throughout the park. And three sensational Christmas Trees are filled with ornaments of all shapes and sizes: one tree rests in Port Voyage, another in Adubudon Park at DisneyQuarter, and a third in the main gardens of Disney's Grand American.
Beyond these resort-wide accommodations, here are a few specific things you'll find at your day during
Mickey's Christmas Celebration. Mickey has tasked each of his pals to be responsible for a certain task in celebration, determined to prove to Santa that he can take a break one year and let the House of Mouse handle Christmas.
CHRISTMAS LIVE!
GOOFY, CHIP, AND DALE
All around the resort, audio-speakers are tuned into the finest radio station at Blue Sky Disneyland:
Christmas Live! Hosted by Goofy, Chip, Dale, this 24-hr broadcast features merry Christmas Carols and chipper Hannuakh Tunes. After each song, Goofy, Chip, and Dale have a pre-recorded silly conversation before jumping to the next song. This in itself is an extended 3-hour loop.
At one point, Christmas Live is taken over by
Hannuakh Live!, with guest host Adam Sandler joining the crew to sing some Hannuakh Songs.
Guests will hear Christmas Live whenever they pass by most stores in Disneyland and DisneyQuarter. They can also tune in at their hotel rooms, and even download the Christmas Live app to listen wherever they are: even back at home! Wherever you are, this will surely be a merry way of enjoying the holidays.
PLUTO'S PRESENT HUNT
PLUTO
Pluto was asked by Mickey to deliver some early presents from the North Pole back to Blue Sky Disneyland. Unfortunately, he dropped the presents just as he was returning, scattering them around the resort. He needs
your help to find them!
Pluto's Present Hunt is a free AR mobile app accessible for all to play. You'll need to find 30 presents, scattered randomly (so no looking for answers online) around the resort. Approximately 15 will be in Blue Sky Disneyland, another 10 in DisneyQuarter, and the other 5 around the various hotels near the lagoon. Approximate locations for each present are provided, but you will have to journey yourself to these locations to find and collect them for Pluto. This game is not meant to be specifically difficult, but rather a fun collection game for families that encourages exploration around all of Blue Sky Disneyland Resort.
Finding all 30 presents rewards an exclusive Christmas Pin, available at the Disney Pin Store within the French Quarter.
CLASSIC CHRISTMAS TALES
THE MUPPETS
The Muppets host this live puppet show at the center square of French Quarter. Inspired by
Great Moments in American History, Kermit attempts to lead the group in a retelling of classic holiday tales, but they quickly jump off-script. Each show is dedicated to one tale, with them happening frequently enough for a guest seated in Cafe Louis to catch all in one day.

IT'S A SMALL WORLD HOLIDAY
CHILDREN OF THE WORLD
Four Winds Square celebrates the Holiday Spirit, with its opening facade completely decked with colored lights and effects that rival the greatest competitors of the
Great Christmas Light Fight. Inside, the ceiling has become a twinkling of shining stars, marking the path of Santa's journey around the world.
But the attractions are where the biggest changes lie.
Small World, One Song nows has the various animals signing holiday folk-songs specific to the culture they represent. Meanwhile,
It's a Small World features a Santa Claus animatronic in every room delivering presents. As it turns out, our boat route around the world isn't all that different from Santa's sleigh route!
HOLIDAYS FLORAL PARADE
MINNIE AND DAISY
Minnie and Daisy have worked hard to bring one of the most ambitious parades to a Disneyland Park: the
Holidays Floral Parade, made to look entirely out of organic material. For budget reasons, this parade cannot be actually organic like the iconic Rose Bowl Parade, as the floats would decompose within a few days. However, this doesn't stop the parade from appearing entirely organic, going as far as to mimic the smells of roses and floral pedals.
Each float is themed to a different Disney character, with the final float representing good friends Minnie and Daisy.
A FESTIVUS FOR THE REST OF US
DONALD, HUEY, DEWEY, AND LOUIE
When Mickey told everyone to prepare for the 25th, Donald misheard him and thought he said "23rd". As a result, Donald prepared for
Festivus rather than Christmas and is now ready to share with us his new favorite Holiday. Also present? Huey, Dewey, and Louie, spending the holidays at Donald's place under the impression they would be celebrating Christmas, not this weird new holiday. Donald sets out to celebrate Festivus and show his nephews -- and us in the audience -- why it is so great.
First, it's time for the
Airing of Grievances, where Donald sings about how much a nuisance Goofy is. Next is the
Feats of Strength, where Donald has three audience volunteers tag-team with Huey, Dewey, or Louie in various challenges. Finally, there's the
Raising of the Pole, where the winner of the Feats of Strength is given the opportunity to formally begin the great holiday of Festivus.
Overall, this live, outdoor show in Port Voyage is sure to be a comedy hit.
Please don't take this part seriously... though TBH I would pay to see this.
MICKEY'S CHRISTMAS FINALE
EVERYONE
Everything has been building to this moment. As the day at Blue Sky Disneyland comes to an end, everyone gathers at Port Voyage to watch the ending to this day at
Mickey's Christmas Celebration.
Christmas Carols are sung and the whole gang gets together. Finally, it's time for
Santa's Sleigh to fly overhead.
A giant cable has been attached between the Grand American and Snow White's Castle. This cable, flying over the lagoon, will hold a replica of Santa's Sleigh, simulating a real flight. During the day, the thin wire will be slightly visible, but not intrusive. At night, it will be impossible to spot.
The Sleigh launches from the roof of the Grand American and flies over the Lagoon as climatic music plays. All around the resort guests watch as the flying sled makes its way towards the Castle. It then flies past, where the lights dim (and this Sleigh Replica, its job finished, is moved to a backstage area) when the Sleigh returns on the ground (really a second Sleigh) to deliver free party bags to every child nearby. Manning the Sleigh is
Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, who has agreed to take Santa's role for this year's Christmas.
Mickey and Gang have done it! Despite a few hiccups here or there, they have successfully hosted this Christmas without Santa, giving him a much-deserved vacation. And good that next year he'll be back to usual... after all this ordeal, Mickey needs a vacation himself!
