Think miniature Animal Kingdom. There were so many people that were convinced that the animals on Discovery Island were AA's.

When River Country was open, the characters would come and swim. Goofy actually put on a show ... diving!

This might be a stupid question but what was Discovery Island?

Discovery Island ? Oh that's the place back in 1993 where a bird in the aviary pooped on me. And of course DW took a picture.

Also, if memory serves River Country water park was attached to it somewhere. 2001 it was shut down for bigger plans to say the least.

Wish they kept the place, maybe turned it into a sort of 'WDW Discovery Cove'.

It's such a beautiful island. Walking its paths was every bit as good as walking the paths on DAK's Discovery Island. I miss my island, the closest I ever came to exploring mysterious tropical islands unknown to civilisation!

December 1972

Found our box of slides from our December ‘72 trip. Most of the slides are poor quality, very dark once scanned. These were a couple that turned out ok. Certainly nothing as good as the quality of some of the others on this thread.

I am rockin’ those red knee highs and shoes!

Mom was classic for cutting our heads off in photos!

Holy moly that's one creepy looking dwarf! Lol my first trip wasn't til 82...

Get a grip... anyone born after 1947 are still kids. Old looking kids, but kids none the less.
Thanks, BTW, for making me have to think about the fact that my oldest Daughter was born in 1974 and my youngest was in 1976. Time to find the Geritol. Below is a picture of them from 1983. The guy in the middle has by some miracle not changed at all in 30 years.
