Get a grip... anyone born after 1947 are still kids. Old looking kids, but kids none the less. :joyfull:
Thanks, BTW, for making me have to think about the fact that my oldest Daughter was born in 1974 and my youngest was in 1976. Time to find the Geritol. Below is a picture of them from 1983. The guy in the middle has by some miracle not changed at all in 30 years.

From another 1973 kid, happy 40th birthday to both of you. I am celebrating my 40th at Disney in a few weeks.

Been going to Disney World since 1975. I keep looking for myself in other people's old pictures.

I am celebrating mine in December. I told everyone that I don't turn 40 until I go home! My first trip was 1976 - I am waiting for my Dad to get those slides out of the attic.

The MK in old pics always looks empty because:

The MK drew about ten million visitors annually, instead of seventeen.

The MK was open for more hours, thus spreading the crowds throughout the day.

The MK had more attractions than today. Perhaps that where the people were at.

The walkways had less clutter, from endless food stalls to a stupid Alladin spinner to 'random crates with pun stenciled on'.

People used less space: we were less bulky, carried less goods around, and kids in the 70s/80s commonly had managed the art of walking before the age of nine so less strollers

Don't forget there were no ECV's in those days either.

That's because we were the young adults with the young children back in the 1970's. Those young adults with the young children are now the old adults bringing the grandchildren. Some of us still have young minds and a love Disney, but our bodies have turned old and need help getting around.

Oh how I love these pictures. My first visit ever to Walt Disney World was in 1975. My Sister and soon to be Brother-in-Law took me there for summer vacation. I loved Disney as a young boy and still do as a 50 year old today. I remember those pictures so vividly. Thanks to all for posting the pictures. It was the best time of my life seeing WDW for the first time ever way back then. The cool part was I was so scared going on Space Mountain. My brother-in-law wanted to go back on and talked me into it. We were standing in line and the ride had broken down. Please keep in mind I was totally hypnotized by the meteors flying and all the sounds. They turned the lights on for some reason and I seen a completely white plain roof and remember the rollar coaster being brown. That was a cool experience for me and I will never forget that time.

Here is a pic of me in 1979. I'm in the stroller and that's my beautiful mom next to me...The little girl is a stranger. I was just shy of 9 months old ;-) Tomorrow land entry in the BG. Oh, and yeah I had just kicked off my shoe.

1974. Can you believe we took my brother's rifle home on the airplane?!?
Yep, things were a lot different back then. Also those rifles were wood not the plastic they are today. I still have one of my sons' pistols. I didn't keep the rifle.

The only one that I might question is the one about more attractions. I believe that there were less big attractions. It took a while to get Pirates, Splash Mountain and others. The only two that I can think of that weren't replaced were 20K and the Skyway and that was later. Anyway, at best, I'd say, about the same, but fewer people went there back then and that would probably be the biggest reason. That alone would amount to about 19000 people a day on average. That's a lot of peoples!

My memories of WDW in the 1970s are pretty good...

Anyone else remember how (and these pictures show it too) the Magic Kingdom was so open and roomy? Now too much stuff is being crammed in and its usually stuff like a zillion merchandise stands, dvc kiosks (Hey I love DVC but come on!), etc?

I can't get over the number of strollers compared to the 70's. Hardly anyone one brought their own. We just rented them. Now there are big areas for stroller parking . I don't remember kiosks in the Mk.
