Question, do we really need Shangri-La? It's not even technically a traditional Lost World. It's from a 1933 British novel. If we really needed a Lost World for the opening area of the park, why not do the traditional Chinese version of Heaven with a Journey to the West boat ride?

What about Mount Penglai? The island home to the Eight Immortals of Chinese mythology. Perhaps it could be used as a land for Chinese myths in general.

Avalon is where King Arthur eternally rests after he was killed by Mordred, waiting for when Britain will need him again...which apparently is under the Glastonbury Tor.

So here's a list of our proposed attraction ideas so far (underlined are new ideas I'm adding right now). These are suggestions; none are set-in-stone. We should keep brainstorming more!

"Main Street" Base Camp
Soarin' Over the Lost Worlds (PERFECT!)
Boat transportation ride (Is it too similar to TDS's Steamers?)
Maybe a museum omnimover

Shangri-La
Modified Expedition Everest

El Dorado
Pirates of the Caribbean
Coco-themed whip ride
Conquistador Trail animal walkthrough (DAK-style)
TBD El Dorado ride (coaster or log flume)
Voladores swing spinner ride

discover-2010-1-voladores-ceremonia_848x476_adaptiveResize.jpg

Voladores of Mexico

Atlantis
Submarine dark ride (like - but not copying - DisneySea's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea)
Highly-themed aquarium attraction

Antarctica
Slot car (Test Track) ride (proposed Journey to the Center of the Earth clone might violate DisneySea exclusivity contracts; how about a variation on an ice drill journeying into the dinosaur-filled Hollow Earth)

Camelot (or different name)
Brave shooting gallery
Dragon coaster
Trackless King Arthur dark ride (entering the tapestries & manuscripts 2.5-D like Runaway Railway) - Are we going original with this or adapting Disney's "Sword in the Stone?"

Lemuria
NOTHING YET

Wakanda (seems to be the preferred African lost world)
Vibranium Mine drop tower

Mt. Olympus
Hercules-themed log flume ride
Greek labyrinth maze
The Muppets perform in a Greek theater (portraying the gods?)

Arabian Lost City (name TBD)
Indiana Jones Adventure
1001 Nights nighttime show
Hanging Gardens walkthrough
Aladdin carpet spinner clone
Aladdin suspended dark ride (our version of Peter Pan)

Other ideas
Muppet Treasure Island subbing in for Tom Sawyer Island
Tower of Terror with Benjamin Hightower (alternate proposal: set in an Arabian ziggurat inspired by the Tower of Babel)
I think this layout is amazing! What I think we should get rid of is Shangri-La like @mickeyfan5534 said. I think the carpet spinner doesn't need to be there. Wakanda maybe adding a Shuri type room where you make your own weapons. Those are just my ideas.

Also, I forgot to mention, but I think I can take the Project Leader Position that D offered, if no one else is interested, although from Monday to Thursday, beggining next week, I’ll only be able to be online besides on some free times, and at night. However, I should be fairly active from Friday to Sunday!
For reference the project leader does not necessarily have to be one person throughout...but a relay of leaders, a different person each week for example, depending on availability.

Just as long as everyone is on the same page...it should work well, give everyone an opportunity when they are free, and not lead to people being hesitant due to upcoming obligations.

spit balling a few random things onto this...
something Mayan related possibly tied with El Dorado
Egypt has a few good choices and lots of back story. I think they actually have their own atlantis type deal in the form of a sunken city if I'm not mistaken

I did some research on Lemuria. In 1864 a man named Philip Sclater made a book saying that Madagascar and India were once was much bigger and that was Lemuria. Animals that came from Lemuria used land bridges to get to Africa. After a few decades the topic of Lemuria was brought back up in 1999 when they found pollen and fragments from 90 million years ago which helped the theory that it is real! In 2013 scientists said that Lemuria existed between 2 billion and 85 million years ago. We could have a ride where we find the fragments or we could have a museum showing the history of Lemuria. Anyone have any other ideas??

I have an idea for the park icon. It doesn't always necessarily have to be huge and grand. What if the opening land had a Native American-inspired totem pole, with each section of the pole representing one of the lost worlds of the park. At the top is perhaps a Chinese dragon to signify Hong Kong. Plus, the Native Americans need a little rep in the park.

That is actually kind of a cool idea. Or you could do a totem for each land and cluster them in either a park like setting, or natural with waterfall behind them, etc. Each part of the totem for that land would tell a story about each attraction, animal, etc that is in that particular land. Would make for a good marketing emblem as well.

One type of attraction we haven’t discussed so far, a River Rapids, which I’m sure would be ideal for this park, no attraction screams adventure to me like a River Rapids!
What about the Indy attraction or possibly in arabia? Start off as an exploratory trip inside a temple or ruins or something and then you trigger a bunch of booby traps that send you careening through the temple until the final raft drop out of the temple at the last minute safely into a river.

It might be a good time to start discussing what roles we can all fill (even while we're still debating layout and such).

The big role is Lead Project Manager(s). Deciding on someone to handle the overall big picture vision for this park.

Does anybody want to nominate themselves or others for this role?

It seems offhand like either @DisneyFan18 or @Pionmycake would be able to fill this role, if they're willing.

I'm around for one more month, then I'm abroad (China) for the vast majority of September. So I could take a role like Creative Consultant for our early design phase, but I won't be able to help later on.
So just to bump this back into the discussion, I think the 'leader' or leaders will be key to keeping us on track. It can be a relay of leaders based on availability or project interest. Something to think about and i do think everyone who wants to can have a shot at this.

I do apologise if my comments are sounding crass or objectionable. This is my first time participating in a mass Imagineering project, and I am a bit overwhelmed by it. I suppose this is a little outside my comfort zone, as I am more a solo kinda armchair Imagineer. My one solo park creation so far here is a Peter Pan/Neverland theme park. But, of course, Imagineering is a team effort and I look forward to further fun and shenanigans.

My concern is that the conversation seems all over the place, though this might just be me. Thanks to the daily recaps by @D Hindley, it is good to keep track of the overrall direction of the park, but every post seems to be talking about something new. It's hard to keep track of a a conversation when it changes so quickly. Now this sudden change of discussion makes sense, cause brainstorming and all, but I feel it is important to actually nail what the actual themes of the park are. I do have dyspraxia, so I may just be have trouble keeping up. Some members are saying we need to put animals in, in order to compete with another resort, which really shouldn't matter since this is blue sky creativity and financial realism really shouldn't be an issue. Or at least that is how I see it. I'm weird that way XD

Ideas are coming and going in seconds so it is hard to keep track of what is on the table, I am somewhat confuzzled if we are going with myths or lost worlds, or both. We also have yet to assign the aforementioned positions of Lead Imagineer and the others (or have we?) It might be a good idea to assign them soon. Thanks for letting me get this off my chest. Now, let's make some magic!
Ideas bounce around, it is the nature of open brainstorming...however I do agree with you in that it can get confusing. My advice would be if youre having trouble keeping up, to chime in with what you can, and follow the daily recaps. Perhaps @D Hindley or whoever writes them can tag you for the post to ensure you get it.

I like the idea of having different leaders per section of the park and kind of dividing us up amongst the section we most want to work with. Of course we can waffle between, but if someone prefers to work in Wakanda while another prefers Shangri-La, having a leader for each would help to develop this park a bit quicker I think.
