10 Days - Too Long?

Hey there!
Heading back to WDW this fall (October 26-November 5) and staying in a 1br at Villas at Wilderness Lodge. Traveling with our daughter for her 3rd trip - she'll turn 3 a few days after we get home.

Our usual trip is about a week and this one is the longest trip we've ever planned. Is 10 days too long for an (almost) 3 year old?! We're excited to have the extra time to make up for naps, pool time, etc. but don't want to push it. I appreciate any input!

Thanks!

I spent 10 days last year at WDW right around the same time. I stayed from October 15th to October 25th. I had a blast and really enjoyed the extra time spent there. It may seem like a while but it's great to soak everything in and as the week goes on you just feel like you can breeze through more than 1 park a day since you've become used to the surroundings. In fact, my father and I are heading to Disneyland for 10 days this June. I'm sure you guys will have a ton of fun. Be sure to attend Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, it's a great event.

Only you know your child's temperament, so please accept my words as a set of general principles. To start, you have chosen to go during a time of year when the Florida heat will begin to relent a bit. Your girl will not be suffering the intense Summer heat, which will allow for greater endurance. Additionally, the extra days will actually work to your advantage. A shorter trip generally creates a mindset in which everything must be rushed and experienced. In contrast, the extra days will allow for a more relaxed attitude. Kid's know when parents are having fun. The extra time will also allow for park days, pool days, and a mix of both activities within the same day in order to keep your kiddy entertained throughout the vacation. Three is a great age of discovery and personal development. Have fun, says I.

Enjoy!:) I wish that we had 10 days! We are going in Sept. for 6 days (also with a 3 year old) and I feel like it won't be long enough. You'll have enough time to enjoy all the parks and everything that your resort has to offer.

We went for 12 days in February and it was wonderful. We were able to do all of our favorite things many times, and just take our time and enjoy. I loved just stopping and sitting on a bench to take in the scenery or people watch at any time. We brought our children (now grown) as infants into the parks and we'd go from rope drop to the fireworks each day and they'd sleep in the stroller and did just fine.

Crush Dude!

Back from WDW!Counting down to DLP in November!
No way is it too long!

The longer your trip is the more time you have to take your vacation at your own pace! Perfect with little ones, if you have to leave a park early you can always do the rest the next day

We love 3 week trips :sohappy::sohappy:

It'd be too much if you were in park commando mode every day dawn to dusk. If you're taking advantage of some of that time to chill, hit the pool, enjoy playgrounds, with no rush to get to the next big thing, it sounds great. The best thing to remember is that to a 3 year old, everything has the potential to be awesome, but it also has the potential to be overwhelming. An afternoon spent playing in the pool or playground may have just as much wow appeal as the Magic Kingdom.

We will be there for our longest trip yet June 5th thru 15th. We are so excited!! Also we are doing just the QS dining plan this year so we have no reservations or commitments. Only thing on the agenda is to be at the parks for the opening then just go where the wind blows us!! That's what is so neat about a 10 day vacation. If you don't get it done today, then you can do it tomorrow! :D

No, I don't think its to long at all. I think it will allow for some down days, and you won't have to feel rushed by any means. Take your time, enjoy things outside of the parks-enjoy the resort etc-I know we are taking our son down who will be 3 and a half come July for ten days....and looking forward to it.

Thanks everyone!

I knew 10 days wasn't too long for my wife and I, but wondered about the length of time with a little one. We were there for a week in December and she did great, but know that a few extra days could go either way!

Can't wait for a long trip! :ROFLOL:

On our 1st visit my daughter was 3 and my son was 10 months old, we stayed for 2 weeks and I cried on the last day because I did not want to go home!!!! The secret is not to push the little one too much ( rushing around etc) I am sure you will love it x

Enjoy the trip with your wife and little one. When my son was young we made sure the daily schedule wasn't too overwhelming and fit in time to let him rest and recuperate, knowing his and our limits.
All our trips have been 2 weeks long except for the last one which because of a conflict of work schedules was for only 10 days. We got to the tenth day and I was saying "But we still haven't done this and this and this." I missed those extra days. Two weeks is good, I wish it could even be longer.

If you love Disney as much as some of us on this board then no. I tend to go for about 3 days or so a few times a year, but would love to go longer. I go with seasonal passes and the kids are usually in school. Right now we can't afford annual passes for the whole family and I am not pulling the kids out of school for a week.

10 days is definitely not too long. That's what we used to do all the time when I was a kid. We would go to a park in the morning, go back to the resort in the afternoon for napping and swimming, and then we would go back to the parks in the evening. I remember it being a pretty fun and mellow way to spend a vacation. beign there that long lets you take advantage of some of the resort amenities that you would probably miss otherwise. The Wilderness Lodge has a cool hidden mickey scavenger hunt that you can ask about at the front desk (probably better for a slightly older child). You can also volunteer to help raise the flags over the resort in the morning. You get an amazing view from there. You can also go over to the ranch at Fort Wilderness for the petting zoo and pony rides. I can still remember loving to go see the mickey cow when I was little.

10 days is never too long. In my experience our stays are at the minimum 10 days and i find that very nice as i never feel rushed. I am staying for 21 days after Thanksgiving this year (on site and my time share) and I will let you know if that is too long. :ROFLOL:

Like so many replies before mine have stated, 10 days is PERFECT, as long as you give yourself the opportunity to relax, pace yourself, and really enjoy all of the little and subtle things that make WDW worth it! You can also escape to Sea World or Universal for a day each, and still do EVERYTHING at WDW as often as you'd like. You've chosen an ideal time to go too, with comfortable temperatures and lower-than-average crowds. Add me to the list of the jealous! Have a blast!
