Trip Report 10 days in Disneyland Paris

Hi all, I read the reports here since last year and last week I decided to be a member so I can comment to trip reports from all of you! Since I am European I am more in Disneyland Paris than in the other parks throughout the world. When I was 18 (long long time ago......) I was in Florida and stayed in Walt Disney World for about 4 days.... Disneyland Paris I have been about 25 times.... Me and my family are in for the 8th consecutive annual passportfor Paris and I am a shareholder for Disneyland Paris. Last month we had a 8-day trip to Disneyland Paris. I cannot descibe every day of the trip but we have a lot of pictures and would love to share them with all of you.

I also will post pictures from earlier trips to DLP in the Photo of the day thread:

Disneyland Paris 20-07-2013 / 28-07-2013

So here we start! Each year we are in DLP for about 4 or 5 weekends and the last 5 years we also spent a part of our summer holidays in the park. Until this year we each summer book a camping ground, which is nice. The only thing was it is a 20 minute drive to DLP every time we go. So if you wanna fresh up you have to take the car each time. This year we thought, hey lets rent a appartment nearby DLP. So we did. Only 5 minutes from DLP, so plenty of opporunities to go back to the appartment when we need to do so.

Weather reports were OK for the period we were in DLP. In the end they were too good. All 8 days we had a minimum temperature of 35 Celsius (95 Fahrenheit) and when you walked in the sun for a long time temperature was above 43 Celsius (109.4 Fahrenheit). So we had a hot 8 days! The hottest in our DLP history!

Who were on the trip this time:

Me (Michel, 42), my wife (Ria, 43), our daugther (Sacha, 16)

We departed from Rotterdam, the Netherlands in the middle of the night at 04.00. Since the drive to Paris is about 4.5 hours we were in DLP around 08.30 in the morning! A perfect time. First thing we did was going to Earls in Disney Village (Downtown Disney for DLP). Sorry no pics of that. After the breakfast off course we went to Starbucks, since I am a real SB addict!

Me in line for our Frappucino's!

And me in front of my favourite coffee shop in the world :)

After we completed our breakfast and coffee it was time to walk around Disney Village. Off course to check if there were new items since our last trip (April 2013). We ended our shopping round at World of Disney, the lasted addition to DV. In the next couple of months a new shop will be opened, LEGO. They say it will be the biggest LEGO shop in Europe.

Then it was time to go to Walt Disney Studios.

Ria managed to take a picture without the walking people :)

Great pics! Love the castle in DLP, just beautiful!!

Thanks for reading! Ppl in Europe say that the castle in DLP in the most beautiful of all, but I can't compare with the other parks. Been to WDW when I was 18 and well just have the pics to watch, don't remember the castle in my mind :)

A view of the Lucky Nugget saloon, in the past we were there for the so called 4 o'clock break, with some characters. But DLP changes the settings of the restaurants quite often, so lately we haven't been there.

When you walk into DLP the first thing you see is the anniversary sign with Tink. My best guess is that the removed it recently.

How do you like the "Pixar land" expansion? Looks pretty neat.

Its a good addition to the Studio Park. The Studio park is rather small in compare to USA. They are building the new Ratatouille attraction next to Pixar Land. But its a great part of the park. Next visit I will take better pictures of Pixar Land, so you have to wait for November :)

And now time for the scary part of our DLP Summer 2013 trip. We were walking outside the parks on our way to Disney Village for some shopping a lunch at Earls when we saw that the square in front of Marne La Vallee trainstation was closed. A lot of policeman and some military guys with guns. Then we saw a guy like on the movies with a bomb suite one, so the bomb squad arrived! We could not see where he was going, but people told us that there was a bicyle with a suspicious package on the backseat. Off course we tried to go closer to the fence, but police told us to walk on. And then there was panic. The police and security from Disney said that everybody has to go away much further. People were running, Annet's Diner (the first one in Disney Village was evacuated, we went into World of Disney and the doors closed and we could't get out. We looked outside the window and saw the bombsquad return to the package with some kind of thread. And then 4 minutes later a loud 'BANG', a smoke cloud (not that big) and that was it. Nobody from police of Disney security wanted to tell what it really was and within 20 minutes everything was back to normal! Although it was a pretty scary incident looking backwards.....

bomb_02.jpg

After lunch we went to the studios again :) Just behind the fences and after entering the park there is a Mickey Fantasia statue:

More to come in the next post! Hope you all still enjoy the pictures!!

That is scary. I'm guessing that the police exploded the package themselves if they were not sure of its contents. You must have felt like you were in a movie. I like the fantasia fountain!

Yeah it was like we were in the movies. And I guess you are right. They exploded the package becuase they knew it wasn't that bad.. I mean there were hundreds of people watching, and if it was realy bad... we were to close.. And the fantasia fountain is very great!!

Great report! It's nice to get a glimpse into DLP! The Disneyland Hotel looks absolutely beautiful! Is that right near the entrance to the park? I also thought that the positioning of the Walt and Mickey statue with the Hollywood sign in the background seemed very fitting! I like seeing the statue in front of Cinderella's Castle in WDW as well, as that is what I am used to, but I thought DLP found the perfect place for them there.

Thanks for the reply :) Disneyland Hotel is above the entrance of DLP :) and they placed Walt en Mickey in a right place, although in my opinion it should stay in the main park instead of Studios!

In Mr. Toads restaurant you can eat some nice fish and chips. The only thing is, although DLP is open until 23.00 every day, Mr. Toads closes at 17.00. The day before this picture was taken we were there at 16.55 (and by then didn't know it was almost closing time). We walked inside and before us were about 10 people in line. And then suddenly one of the Disney people, called from behind the desk that he couldn't help us. I asked why?? He said because we are closes... So I asked and the people in front of me? And then he said well I will help them, but not help you! I really makes me angry but I was calm and argued a little with him. But he was not change his mind. I was too late in his opinion, although it was absolutely not 17.00. I turned around to walk outside. One friend of us stayed a little longer and saw that the guy was laughing his off. Outside we deciced that we can go back in and start a discussion about the laughing, but then I thought... I go to city hall and deliver a complaint. So I did. I walked in and they asked what can we do for you Sir. I said I have a complaint. Directley we were asked to walk with them to a seperate room. Very nice and gentle! They asked what it was about and I explained everything. They made a call and excused for what happenend.Because by that time the restaurant was closed they could not let is back in. But they gave us a ticket for an ice cream! That was very nice!

Wonderful report! Enjoying all the photos of DLP. I visited Paris last year, but didn't get to go to DLP. The castle is lovely, and the Disneyland Hotel is very pink! I can't decide if your Space Mountain or ours is nicer-looking.

Looks like you and your ladies are having a great time!

Thanks for the great reply!! Wow what a shame... visit Paris and don't go to DLP :) The castle is the best in the world I my own view :) Disneyhotel is very pink, great that is above the gates of DLP, only I cannot afford a stay over there :) I guess your SM is nicer, but the seats inside SM Paris is nicer than in WDW. :)

We absolutely had a great time and cannot wait for the november trip. Unfortunate no Halloween trip to DLP this year, but the Christmas trip is also very nice :) And off course there will be a TP from the November DLP trip :)
