Trip Report ‘Tis The Season For More Disney! *COMPLETED*

But let’s be honest.
Which season isn’t the season for more Disney?
In 2017 I have been fortunate to experience winter, spring and summer in the world.
And now the holidays!
Since December is such a festive time of year at the parks, I think two trips are in order....don’t you?

Trip #1
Cast: Tuvalu and Em
When: December 1-4, 2017
Where: Port Orleans Riverside
Why: A Jingle BAM Birthday 2.0

Join us as we attend our first MVMCP, wander around World Showcase like a couple of newbies, meet a forum friend and intentionally watch LOTS of fireworks....did we get to Illuminations this year?

You’ll have to wait and see.

Thanks for all the greetings, friends! Now it’s time to pick up where I left off....

Friday, December 1 (con’t)
We’d finished dinner at Pecos Bills. In Frontierland. Wouldn’t it make sense for us to experience our first attraction of the party in Frontierland?

But of course.

Shirley received her last car request....

....and an “all clear” gate area.

No better way to start the evening than a nighttime ride on BTMRR!!

On the way to our next attraction we encountered the Treats are Here! symbol.

Isn’t this candy cane enticing?

We thought so. Into Tortuga Tavern we went. (It really is “Open Seasonally”! )

CMs were handing out snowman pretzels and blue ice snow cones.

I expected the pretzel to be warm. It wasn’t.

At the risk of alienating @ajrwdwgirl, we found the snacks to be “meh.” The pretzel was dense and dry. The snow cone syrup puddled at the bottom of the cup, making the majority of the ice flavorless.

Oh well.....onward and upward!

You must have gotten duds. My snowcones were evenly distributed and my pretzel was soft and warm. I guess you should have been with me.

So glad one of the MK attractions gets a holiday overlay!

Years ago The Country Bear Jamboree transformed into the Country Bear Christmas Special. It was the first holiday overlay in any of the parks and ran for twenty years. I was sad to see it discontinued as it was a fun change to the show.

Happily, Jingle Cruise is also a fun change, especially in the dark!

How adorable is the tarantula in a Santa hat and beard?!

Since there are no fastpasses during the party everyone waits in the standby line....which moves surprisingly fast! Em and I were able to take in many details in the queue which we never get to see because we always FP the ride.

Is she excited? You betcha!

Almost aboard!

Best skipper joke of our cruise (as we passed the “Mother-in-Law” elephant): “She packed an extra trunk to stay the full 12 days of Christmas!”

On a spring break trip a couple years ago, Em met up with one of her students and rode Space Mountain with him. This year Em has Matt’s sister in her class....and it just so happened that Caitlin, Matt and their mom were at tonight’s MVMCP. As we left Jingle Cruise, Em received a text with their location and we headed over to meet them.

We stopped briefly to admire this beauty.

Did you guess we were going to Tomorrowland?

If brother got to ride Space Mountain with teacher, it was imperative that sister did too!

We Moms rode together.

(I decided against doing the Tuvalu pose.)

Caitlin was so excited to spend time with her teacher. It was truly adorable to watch. @blgauger, have you encountered any of your students in the parks? Kids don’t think of their teachers as having lives outside of school and their reaction to seeing their teacher unexpectedly can be priceless!
