    Drinking Water Quality

This is not exactly true in Florida. Although some may refer to hardness as a measure of dissolved minerals, it is mostly a measure of dissolved calcuim and magnesium content in water. Most of the hardness in the water here comes from the dissolution of limestone ,dolomite, and gypsum, which...

    Drinking Water Quality

As far as true water quality is concerned, check here: http://waterquality.ifas.ufl.edu/FAQs/FAQs.htm As far as how it good it tastes, the reviews are always mixed and it makes more sense that you try it for yourself. If you're on a budget and used to buying bottle water, it's not a bad idea...

    Monorail Silver

The other day a cast member at the monorail station told me that some of the monorail trains were getting a new paint job because some of the original paint was chipped/damaged when they recently removed the "Year of a Million Dreams" decals.

Day at the Magic Kingdom Tracked on GPS

LOL! That's what happens when the Odyssey blocks the GPS' view of some of the satellites and it miscalculates my position. Ok ok...so maybe I did swim in the lake :lookaroun:hurl:

Day at the Magic Kingdom Tracked on GPS

It can definitely be done but other corrections will have to be made to get an accurate walking distance. I just want to let people know that the GPS units can grossly overestimate distance traveled because of the error stuff I mentioned earlier before. Most people think that the GPS is giving...

Day at the Magic Kingdom Tracked on GPS

The only problem is that the GPS tracks of the rides like Big Thunder and Space Mountain are not very accurate at all. In fact, they are off by 10s of meters in places. The GPS can not get an accurate fix to get a reliable latitude and longitude from the satellites when indoors or in tunnels...

Day at the Magic Kingdom Tracked on GPS

Very neat indeed. You would be surprised to know the number of people who keep GPS trackpoints at the parks. Earlier this year I tested several handheld and automotive GPS units around Disney to investigate/compare accuracy and explore photo geocoding capabilities. I typically use GPS and...

Moving to Florida, and AP Renewal Question..

I was in the same boat as you when I moved to Orlando. My original annual pass was set to expire shortly after arriving in Florida. Thankfully, I was able to renew my annual pass at the Florida resident rate. Just make sure you have a valid Florida driver's license by then and maybe bring a...

    June Bugs

Yep. The invasion has begun. I drove through a small swarm of them while I was heading to Typhoon Lagoon yesterday. They were also in Lakeland and Winter Haven too. Let the fun begin. I wonder who will be the first this year to swallow a pair of those lovely bugs racing down Splash...

Why is DAK so far away???

No problem...I think it's cool that you even mentioned the term. I was just wondering what you meant.

Why is DAK so far away???

That's pretty awesome and it doesn't surprise me one bit. I wonder how much they paid per cubic yard of dirt. I don't know what kind it is but the Tree of Life sure is growing quite well in it :lookaroun

Why is DAK so far away???

When I saw the term "geologically stable" to describe the area it grabbed my attention. That term usually implies something about the underlying geological framework and processes and not necessarily soil stability; except maybe in the case landslides. As far as water goes, I suppose it's no...

Why is DAK so far away???

I disagree. That parcel of land is not more geologically stable given that is supposedly has less water. That's not necessarily true.

Why is DAK so far away???

What would make this particular parcel of land more "geologically stable" than the adjacent areas?

    Wal-Mart

You might want to try the public bus system called LYNX. I know they provide service to Disney and surrounding areas, including Wal*Mart. You can check them out on the web at: http://www.golynx.com/ Also, you can view their routes here: http://www.golynx.com/?fuse=cstm&app=route For...

    Free lithographs for Annual Passholders

I got all 4 of them today and it was a crazy experience to say the least. I took some photos of them so everyone can see what they look like. The backgrounds are actually all white despite looking off-white in the images below. Sorry for the low quality images...

    Splash Mountain - OPEN!

I think it is closed at the moment. I was there last night shortly before and during Pirate and Princesses and it looked as if the water was drained out of the ride.

American Idol Positive Influence on DHS

I keep thinking about Disney’s theme of “dreams come true.” I’m not sure I want to attend an attraction where someone’s dream comes to an abrupt end. Something just doesn’t seem right about that to me.
