    Death at Icon Park accident

Seatbelts on rides are nothing like 100% reliable. It would likely have saved this kid’s life, but instilled a false sense of security and years down the line someone else might have died when the gap was too large and the seatbelt failed (under the force of the person being pushed through the gap).

Transformative Multi-Year Expansion Announced for WDS Paris

True - but paving is what the park needs. It is way too small and ride-dense (not the same thing as saying there are lots of rides!) at the moment! Barely a theme park.

    Death at Icon Park accident

Very informative thread. I agree with almost all the posts above, but will differ on seatbelts. Universal’s “Dr Doom’s Fearfall” removed them a few years ago, which significantly speeds up cycle times. Obviously adding the seatbelt is safer, but considering that adding seatbelts involves a...

    AP Refund Watch

The money (gift cards) has arrived! And only six months after the latest date it was promised. :-)

    AP Refund Watch

I was telephoned by a CM to offer me the choice between a check and a gift card with an extra $20. I went for the gift card. Still weren’t able to provide a timescale on when it would be received, though.

    AP Refund Watch

I got a friendly CM who confirmed by refund was still processing. She wasn’t able to say whether it would come by (now very delayed) card refund or by check, but did confirm that checks are being mailed internationally (to the United Kingdom, in my case).

    AP Refund Watch

Thanks, glad to hear it. (For my sake, not yours!). My adult pass went from MDE too about a month ago.

    AP Refund Watch

With all the positive reports above, is there anyone who has a still active US payment card and who has not received a refund? I’m in that situation, though my payment card is international, which might be having an impact.

Bus driver can’t take guests to closed parks?

Fair enough. Nice to see the driver was just following policy (though plenty haven’t in the past!). Doesn’t stop me from thinking it’s a stupid policy though :)

Bus driver can’t take guests to closed parks?

So we left our car at Animal Kingdom, and got the bus to Animal Kingdom Lodge for a dining reservation. After our meal (at around 8:40 pm, 40 mins after park closure), we approached a bus bound for Animal Kingdom. The driver said that he wasn’t allowed to take guests back. The bus was...

Transformative Multi-Year Expansion Announced for WDS Paris

Any rumours about revering Hyperspace Mountain back to a non-Star Wars version? It’s seeming more and more like a permanent change :(

MAGICal DLP News, Rumours & Thoughts

Is it still expected to be the case that Hyperspace Mountain will revert to Space Mountain at the end of SOTF 2019, I.e. as of 17 March 2019? I really hope so. I am truly fed up of HSM, both in DLP and in HKDL! And I gather it’s now permanent in the latter :(

Why are you allowed to keep your bag between the bag check and the metal detector?

Unlike at DLP, Universal and every airport in the world, WDW returns your bag to you in the window after you have had your bag searched but before you go through the metal detector. Does anyone have any thoughts on why this ridiculous security risk is ignored by WDW?

Were the lines really shorter back in the day or do we imagine this?

You have it pretty much spot on, actually - and they’d all be waiting in front of you physically. So in certain circumstances, the physical line would be greater than 30m if people with fresh park media kept entering and scanning in. This would only happen in the extreme cases though - new...

    Epcot $1 entrance lockers... gone!

I’m sure that’ll be the reason given for their removal. But if explosive-based crime is what is on someone’s mind, I’d suggest there might be a few more successful locations than a contained metal locker in a secluded baggage storage area near the distant buses that few people knew about...

Were the lines really shorter back in the day or do we imagine this?

My (crazy) idea is that when a line exceeds 30 mins, new people can only join the (30-minute) line by scanning in with their park media. They are then unable to join the next 30-minute line until an appropriate amount of time (I.e. what the queue would have been had all the people who scanned in...

Were the lines really shorter back in the day or do we imagine this?

As an alternative system, I would eliminate the current FP+ system entirely and do the following: 1 - Determine the acceptable wait time for a ride. The orthodoxy here is about 30 minutes, so let’s use that. 2 - As soon as the wait time for a ride exceeds 30 minutes, the standby line should...

    Epcot $1 entrance lockers... gone!

Very true. But from my point of view, as someone who only needed access once as a place to dump my bag after arriving from the airport, it’s the same service. And the “in-park” $15 lockers are actually less convenient as I have to bring a fairly large bag through park security, to the...

    Epcot $1 entrance lockers... gone!

To my shock and dismay, the $1 lockers at Epcot’s main entrance (pre-security, near the bus areas) are now gone! This must have been one of the last remaining amazing values at WDW. I was left renting a $15(!) locker inside the park for the same service. There are still a few of the good value...

    Spaceship Earth - Silent Descent

A little discovery of mine. If you answer the first question (health, work, etc) at the last possible minute - that is, between the timer showing 1 and 0 - you’ll hit a bug when it tries to generate your future. This bug means you don’t get the “choose your own future” segment with irritating...
