This is terrible! (Thread orginally posted 9/11/2001)

This thread is the best documentary I know about that day. It brings it all back. Thanks Steve. We cannot forget.

Disney pulls Black Panther from local theatres. Anyone know why?

I don’t think it would be that. They just showed it on ABC Sunday night.

Disney pulls Black Panther from local theatres. Anyone know why?

Our local drive-in scheduled to show Black Panther this weekend in memory of Chadwick Boseman, with a portion of proceeds to benefit colon cancer research; but Disney pulled the plug today on theatrical exhibition of the film anywhere, according to the drive-in and the news. I can’t understand...

The Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tennessee, has announced the 2020 class of inductees. The honorees, who will be formally inducted in the fall, are: Dean Dillon - prolific songwriter who wrote most of George Strait's big hits (including "The Chair" and "Oceanfront Property"), as...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Yes, it does give us a little perspective, doesn't it? Our world (and our wonderful World) has been affected. It is strange to think that just a month ago, we were looking at new attractions and still discussing, as usual, the future of the Carousel of Progress. Now progress has either...

Using time at home to catch up on classics... and just wow at what they were able to do

I am late to the Disney+ party, but I have had time at home (not able to work due to Coronavirus restrictions for our office -- and without company laptops not able to do much) and decided to peruse it and YouTube. Anyhow, I wanted to say that I just watched two landmark shorts on Disney+ that...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

That certainly would be ironic. Anyhow, God bless you, Nemo. I know you have been through a lot.

No more free bread at table service....

They could say that they are "helping" you eat in a more healthy way by reducing your carb intake... … and increasing their profit intake.

I hope so. That is what they need.

Favorite Songs: 1960's & all the way 'til Today

Some songs I seem to like "just because." No particular emotion or powerful lyrics -- but just good songs. Two of those for me are "Islands in the Stream" by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton and "You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma" by David Frizell and Shelly West. I just like them, lol.

News Expect closure of Hong Kong Disneyland and Shanghai Disneyland to impact Walt Disney World

I agree with all of this. I also agree with others here that WDW and DL are benefiting from decades of good will and great experiences. But the sticker shock is starting to be experienced among friends I know with families. Some have thought about WDW vacations and just decided to go the...

Ja’Net DuBois, star of “Good Times” and composer/singer of “The Jeffersons” theme song, dead at 74

Agreed, and I think she just brought a fun attitude to her character. Lit up the set.

Ja’Net DuBois, star of “Good Times” and composer/singer of “The Jeffersons” theme song, dead at 74

https://www.wric.com/entertainment-news/janet-dubois-star-of-good-times-dead-at-74/ She was truly underrated. She both wrote and sang “Movin’ on Up” (“Jeffersons” theme) while starring as Willona on “Good Times.” Both had huge impacts, but I bet you now have her singing that theme song in your...

A Valentine's Day idea for helping others

Thanks everyone. It turned out to be a hit. All of the ladies wanted a rose. A local florist actually donated the roses. I had asked if they had anything left over that I could buy, and since they knew what I was doing, they donated them. They were various colors other than red, but that...

A Valentine's Day idea for helping others

I was talking to a teenager from church last night who is not dating anyone this year, and the thought came to me: wouldn't it be nice to go to the nursing home on Valentine's Day and give out roses to the ladies there who had lost their husbands? So, we decided that we are going to that. I...

Ticket price increase / FP+ changes coming?

The saddest part to me is that, while we WDW "experts" used to enjoy the perks of being a regular like navigating FP/FP+ to help our planning and add a few bonuses, it was still possible for newbies and fans alike to drop in on WDW (even just the Magic Kingdom -- "Disney World" to many tourists)...

    signature collection?

Yeah, I never had a laser disc, but I know for a long time they were collectors' favorites. But I did not know that it was for the extra content. I thought it was for the picture resolution. (Didn't the CoP refer to laser discs for a long time in its last scene?) I usually like the...

    signature collection?

I don't have Disney+ yet. Do you know if anything on Disney+ has special features like come with a BluRay or DVD?

    signature collection?

I think they just come up with a new name every time they want to rerelease the originals. I personally and grateful that Roy E. Disney got as much as did out on the Walt Disney Treasures series before he passed away. The company seems to have no real interest in the older material these days...
