I agree, @ImperfectPixie.
Of course I’d rather have a full-scale Moana dark ride, but this doesn’t look like something to sniff at. It has the potential to be stunning, and something that will fascinate kids and adults.
I want rides and big attractions as much as the next person, but things...
I want to offer a teeny tiny bit of advice just based on the one party I attended last September. It was very unexpectedly crowded and hotter than normal, and I realized afterward that you kind of never know what you’re going to get with crowd levels at these things.
Lines for everything...
I feel exactly the same way about the bedding. The very first thing I do when I get to a new Disney room is call housekeeping for extra blankets, and I sleep with at least 2 extra on top of what’s already on the bed.
Way way way back in the ‘80s and ‘90s, a sit down restaurant at the Poly used to make a chicken a la reine soup that was amazing. The recipe is in the old Chef Mickey’s cookbook, but any time I’ve made it, it doesn’t taste like it did back then.
And of course, the Oreo domes at the Beach Club...
It averages about $35 each way, give or take a few bucks. Even a larger car (6 passengers and all their luggage) averages about $45, so you will definitely save a chunk of change.
Pickup could not be easier. There are well-marked pickup spots outside all the baggage claim areas.
You can...
(407) 934-8000, but there’s a lot of debate as to whether any resort really has a direct line (and they probably don’t). It’s most likely a call center that answers “Beach Club” on that number. It doesn’t hurt to try, though. They’ll take your request, but I would make sure to call the main WDW...
All rooms at YC have a proper balcony, unlike BC. Room size is pretty standard also, except for maybe the odd corner room that might have a little more square footage. I was in one of those a few years back that did not have a daybed, just an extra chair and ottoman, and it felt a bit more...
Don’t worry about fitting in. Everyone fits in at the GF. I have seen it all there, just like at other WDW resorts.
Whether it’s worth the splurge is hugely personal. I’ve had excellent stays at the GF, and a couple of poor ones. It sometimes suffers from the same disinterested CMs and...
I’m glad this is happening for your mom and the rest of you! GF is just so beautiful and serene. All I’d really recommend is to build in plenty of downtime to experience just being at the resort. I love just sitting in the lobby listening to the piano or the band, or sitting outside Gasparilla’s...
I’m surprised to hear this. I hope it’s not closing for good, but this doesn’t sound like good news. My kids loved it in September and I thought it would be a goldmine for Disney.
A friend of mine who brought her son in December did mention that a CM told her it was still in a testing phase...
The full balcony rooms are sprinkled all around the resort. I like to request a full balcony room near the lobby, because as mentioned above, BC is a loooooong resort, and rooms closer to Epcot are a long walk to the lobby, food, and pool.
For a better chance of getting a garden view room with some lake view, specifically ask for an odd-numbered room on the lake side of the resort. You’ll have to call to make the request. Do it as soon as you book and then again about 10 days before you check in.
Most of the rooms that flank the...
All the suites are exactly the same. The only differences are view, floor, and proximity to the main building.
You can request a pool view or lake view, if either are important to you. Some suites won’t have head-on views of either.
You may not want to be on the ground floor, and if so...
I’ve had not-so-great experiences at a few resorts, but normally Disney will try to fix any reasonable concerns or complaints.
I was really unhappy with my stay at GF this past September, for a lot of reasons. The elevator in our building was broken more than it was working (not fun if you’re...
Lots of reasons I can think of. The free water is great, but I don’t always want to stop at a crowded QS for it. It’s harder to carry a lidless cup of ice water around. Can’t leave it in the stroller or backpack. Can’t take it on a ride. It tastes funny, depending on the QS. Many people don’t...
Economics isn’t my strong point, but I tend to think that guests would buy more bottles of water at a $2 price point. There’s a perceived value there. “It’s hot, we’re at a theme park, my family of 4 needs hydration. $8? Not bad. Take my money.” Same guest does the same thing 90 minutes later...
I was there last week, and every time I passed through the IG, I got weepy about this. I’m already sad about what a different experience the Epcot resorts will be by the time I get back.
