Halloween Party Questions

Does anyone here have experience with what time the party overlays on the rides begin? Pirates, Mansion, and Space? Thanks for any input.

This kid is all boy. I'm probably not that lucky. I've been hearing the best strategy is to hit up rides early, do the second parade if there is one, and then candy last. Sound about right?

That is a good strategy, only I am herein that since WDW is advising people to skip the first parade because it is busy, the second parade has been more busy than the first. This may change by October. Also, if you plan on meeting any characters, depending on which ones, this could take a lot of time. Candy last is the best, especially if the two of you can make to midnight. As the night goes on, the lines shrink and CM's pass out larger quantities.

Last year we enter the Pirates line around 6:45 and the CM asked us if we wanted to wait until 7:00 for the overlay, so I assume they will start at 7:00. They obviously check for bands, but just wanted to mention that.

Thank you. Honestly I just did the party because I figured the experience in general would be cool and I wanted to have an extra opportunity for my son to get to ride things that might be more crowded during the day. If he wants to meet some of the characters, cool. But I'm not sure how much he'll care about that. I guess it depends on how well he knows who they are.

We went to the party mid October last year and the weather was just fine, tough if you rope drop at 7 am you may have to wear a light jacket.
We skiped the candy lines until midnight and our three bags were full after.only 3 stops. CMs are willing to get rid of the candies before the party ends so there are no lines at all and they gave us a bunch of candy each time. Try avoiding Tom Sawyer as they are the only ones giving the apple juice and we got only one for each bag.
Our party was not too crowded and we managed to meet lots of carachters, do firelights, parade, stage show and ride Splash mountain and also all the halloween magic shots. We had a great time and you and your kid will have one too for sure!!

I want to offer a teeny tiny bit of advice just based on the one party I attended last September. It was very unexpectedly crowded and hotter than normal, and I realized afterward that you kind of never know what you’re going to get with crowd levels at these things.

Lines for everything (everything!) were crazy unbearably long. Really all we accomplished were some candy lines, 2 rides, and the parade. We didn’t make it past 10 pm or so because the kids were too cranky in the heat, so I don’t know if the lines would have been easier later. In any case, my advice would be to not set any expectations for your son as to what you’ll do, or which characters you’ll see. Leave it all a mystery, so there’s no disappointment later (which is a good strategy for WDW in general).

Not saying the party wasn’t worth it, because it was. I’d go back in a heartbeat, just with minimal expectations. The parade alone was priceless— one of the best things I’ve ever seen at WDW, particularly the Headless Horseman and the Haunted Mansion segment. If nothing else, make sure you get a good parade spot. Happy planning!

Thanks! I do have a ticket, just wanted to make sure I planned the afternoon well.
