how far are you from WDW

According to MapQuest....1157.45 miles, or 18 hours, 57 minutes. After looking at the step by step driving directions, it's worth the 1 hr 5 min drive to Laguardia airport, the 30 min line through security, and the 2.5 hr non stop flight to MCO!

How do you get from the airport to WDW

We happen to use Mears, as it's always part of our package deal. We've never had a problem with the drivers or the ride to WDW property. In fact, we've often lucked out being the first Disney resort property drop-off!

Breaking News! Northeast of North America in Blackout

Hi all - boy, does it feel good to be connected again! We live an hour north of NYC and lost power around 4PM yesterday. It came back on around 5AM this morning. You can't even imagine the lines at the gas stations around here today..so crazy! My hubby was stuck on a commuter train (Metro...

    Anoying Guest Habits

S25843 - classic annoyances!!! I love it when my husband and I ask someone to take a "quick" picture of us together, and some clueless wonder is staring up into the air, not noticing the other nice guests who stopped momentarily while the photo is being taken!! Ahhh..screaming children on...

    Anoying Guest Habits

Have to agree with the double wide strollers - I especially like when you see a bigger child (7 or 8 year old) in them...:brick: I love when you enter a theater and the CM says, "Move all the way down to the end and please do not stop in the middle." Of course, you always have some family...

    Anger towards Six Flags

I'd have to agree with the people that commented about SF Great Adventure. Our company holds a "fun in the sun" day annually there. Every year we share the park with a multitude of class trips. It's amazing to wait on line and listen to the vulgar language coming out of these kids' mouths...

    No trip this year

I'm glad there are others just like me! My husband and I went in May '02 and I already miss WDW. I'd pack my bags and go tomorrow if I had the chance! We ususally go away for our anniversary and this year we decided to do the "relaxing beach vacation" in the Caribbean. We're also heading to...

    crowds in May

My husband and I went during the last week of May '02. Memorial Day weekend was a little crowded, but do-able. We avoided MK during the actual weekend. After that, the rest of the week was great. We're from NY, and the kids were still in school. To us, it didn't seem too crowded. I think...

what ride have you ridden the most and how many times?

I'd probably have to say Big Thunder Mountain...when we were younger, my parents would sit and wait on a bench. As soon as we came out of the exit, we would just sneak by them and go back on. After about 7 times in a row, we finally had the guilt trip. I'm not sure if mom ever caught on!

    Dead Giraffe at the AK

I heard about this on the radio last night - very sad. I heard 3 safari jeeps full of guests saw it happen. I think they said the giraffe ( forget her name) was there since '98. I guess it's not uncommon for giraffes to be struck by lightening since they're tall, but very sad.

    TOT vs. Freefall Rides

I've been on Freefall at Six Flags Great Adventure in NJ, and there is no comparison from that rickety ride to ToT! Probably the biggest difference is the anticipation level. In ToT, I know that the fall is bound to happen, but you just don't know when that split second will occur! I also...

How Do You Make Your Plans?

My mom-in-law is a travel agent, so I always have her book our package deals. We just tell her the dates, hotel, and the times we would prefer to fly! Once that's booked, I do the other planning by myself (Hoop De Doo, character breakfasts, etc). All this talk is making me want to plan...

    Common Respect!

I don't know what it is with that particular queue area... Last year when we were waiting on line for ToT, some kids were playing in the shrubs and one was trying to jump up and reach for a branch to swing on. The parents were yakking away...not really paying attention. They got...

    User name confusion

Bob, you crack me up!  Do you have the matching wrist bands? I'm thinking the "Physical" by Olivia Newton-John video right now! Sad but true...my parents had an orange Ford Pinto station wagon. We were stylin' in the 70's with that car!

    Hot seat?

I made it into the hotseat back in June '02. I literally surprised myself and my husband. I was sitting in the audience and there was already someone else in the hotseat. Throughout his progress up the points chart, they displayed a status board of where the top 10 people were in the audience...

    User name confusion

In my case, the avatar came before the name. I'm studying for my masters in elementary education and I was working on a classroom newsletter and needed some pictures. I found a pic of Thumper and it brought back memories of the movie Bambi. When I signed on, I checked to see if Thumper was...

    Value of Disney Souvenirs?

Does anyone know of a site that lists various Disney souvenirs ( from the 70's and 80's) and their approx. value? Not looking to get rid of anything, but I found some of my old Disney souvenirs from my first trip in 1976 and was curious what they were worth! To me, they're priceless! :D

Hoop dee doo upstairs - What to expect?

My husband and I were a party of two and were seated upstairs. When we ate, our backs were to the balcony ( and everyone sitting downstairs). When it was time for the show, we just swiveled our seats around to view the stage. The only drawback was we were seated near one of the main support...

    Mr Toads Wild Ride

(sigh)..How I miss Mr Toads Wild Ride! But wouldn't that make a great addition to a family room? I wonder if the lap bars raise (maybe removable?) Better yet, add a motor to it and cruise around the neighborhood!

    Baby Elephant

I'm not sure if there's a thread on this already, but I happened to see a picture on Yahoo this evening of the baby elephant born at the Animal Kingdom last night. Has anyone seen him/her? I'm guessing that he/she hasn't made their public debut yet! Here was the little "blurb" along with...
