My mom-in-law is a travel agent, so I always have her book our package deals. We just tell her the dates, hotel, and the times we would prefer to fly! Once that's booked, I do the other planning by myself (Hoop De Doo, character breakfasts, etc).

All this talk is making me want to plan another trip!

Our first two trips we used a travel agent and got great rooms at PORS. Since then we have booked them through www.disneyworld.com and although good rooms, we are usually way far back away from everything.

This time we got in on the deal the Disney was offering (7 nights for the price of 4) and decided to take the $$$ we would save and go to the Grand Floridian since we have a 2 year old and an 7 month old and thought the monorail would be our saving grace. We shall find out.

But again we normally do all the reservations then I go to www.aaa.com and order trip tics and we are on our way.

I'm afraid I am another "brit" that insists on flying with Virgin. If you have had more than 3 Virgin holidays you can become a "frequent" virgin(!) and get 10% off package deals which is usually a few hundred pounds if you're staying in a resort hotel. I tend to book way in advance too.

Sounds like we think the same way on this score Pippa.

With family of 4 we saved over £500.00 with our FVC discounts this year. I have yet to find a company who can match Virgin on price, comfort and services.

I just wish they were able to bring back the DTD checkin.

I do it myself as well..... I usually call about a year ahead of time, make my reservation and change it about 12 times! Deals start coming out closer to travel time or I just simply change my mind. OH and friends and family ALWAYS say there coming then change their mind at the last minute so our party size changes through out the year. I make any reservations I can as ealry as possible. I usually write down when they can be made using the PS web site. I always call 60 days inadvance for cinderellas breakfast and get in about 5 out of 10 times! It is very fun looking foward all year round! this year i took a different approach. I made my reservations for June in march and my reservations for Dec. in July. BUt it all worked out. Still looking for the deals! Have fun I got the same ride as you as well. Make sure if you got kids you got a TV! have fun.

I too am pretty much a do it yourselfer. I keep track of any packages for rooms as they come out ( Hey everyone needs a hobby right??) and Ill run the airfare through either Travelocity, or Delta, or Continental or Jet Blue to get a good idea of what is the best airfare right at the moment. As I am an AP holder I usually wait for those discounts to come out and then I POUNCE!!!!!
After I book the resort and air, I sit down and get the hours for the parks, times for special shows, figure out what we want to do and put it all together. Once I have figured out which park I am in on any given day, I make the PS based on that as well as working around any shows or stuff Id like to do. Transport from the airports is always a last minute thing and is subject to who I Am traveling with in any case. By myself or with one friend I hop on Mears, two of the other friends always want to rent a car so if they are along  Any questions, please feel free to ask we will try to help!! Belle

Only problem is Catch 22, that in March I went with Virgin to New York as a treat with my mum and she paid for us to upgrade to Premium Economy. I am now spoilt and refuse to fly in "steerage"!!!!!! ;)

A few years back when I went to WDW with my mum and grand parents (there 1st time and guess what...they loved it :D) we were upgraded to premium economy for free, we were at the depature lounge where they were checking the tickets then told us they were upgrading us :)

Whenever I have a long haul flight I won't goto bed the night (or 2) before and so when I get on the plane i'm so tired I sleep the whole flight, I remember once I fell asleep before we had even taken off and woke up just as everyone was leaving.

How do you become a frequent virgin (what a contradictory statement!) ? As i've probably had over 10 virgin package holidays over the years, would that make a me a special kind of virgin?!?

Im only 15 (almost 16) and i make all the plans. I just get me parents credit card # for a week or two and make al the arrangements. I just make sure everything is ok before i pay for any of it though. When i make the arrangements i kno wut all is going to happen , it gets me excited, and it increases the magic that is already there.

Hi Clemster!

You have to have been on 3 or more virgin package holidays and you get a membership card, ticket wallet, t shirts and stuff (all for free!). You can also join the flying club which is a bit like air miles. Just go to www.virginholidays.com for the frequent virgin stuff and www.virginatlantic.com for the flying club.

Good Luck!

You can register when you book your third trip.:) Also fly drives count, you dont have to take full packages.

The T's are not atall shabby but the wallets a little naff but usefull. The sent us two by mistook.
The best thing is that you get a free car upgrade, I get a luxury one this trip, if you are travelling in a party of 3 or more it costs the same insurance as the basic shed. They also tend to be a bit more responsive to requests and offer some good deals.

 another control freak here... I do all the planning myself too... and that's probably the major reason why I rent a car too... so I can be the "wheel man" or in my case woman... I like to drive where & when I want... not rely on the bus system... :hammer:
