hmmm i think it might be a bit of a waste of an FP+ to me as well. part of me likes the idea of having guaranteed entrance and not having to line up an hour before though.

wdw is offering free dining with some reservations, so guests who normally wouldn't go crazy with dining are. ADRs book up fast during free dining promotions. just keep trying and be open to try new things. we actually found some of our favorite places because everything else was booked.

the dining plan is a good deal when it's free and there are no decent room discounts available. for dh and i, even a modest room discount is a bigger savings than 'free' dining plan.
