The Contemporary and the Poly opened within months of each other so both are the first built at Disney. I started going to Disney back when I was the early 80s and there was just the Contemporary and the Poly to choose from.

One advantage to FQ is you're the first stop on the bus loop so you're always guaranteed to get a seat on the way to the parks and when we were there in June we always had a dedicated bus back to FQ at park closing.

We always take them in our carryon on the way home along with the rest of our souvenirs and never have had a problem with security.

We'll be attending the party on the night of the 6th as well. We'll be at Disney from Dec 1-9th.

You can definitely apply a discount after you've booked your trip. We not only applied a discount after we booked, we changed our discount and our hotel twice.

My upcoming trip that's in just over two weeks was booked a year ago, then I got a pin code which I applied to it, then I switched the pin code to the free dining. Very easy to apply discounts to an already booked trip.
