    Vacation Planning DVD

I used to love these videos, and the old ones are amazing. The more recent videos are too promotional and mostly just dull. They could do a lot more with them, and it's just not there for me any more. I still have a bunch of our old ones, though!

Where in WDW is your “happy place”?

It's really close to the photo above, but the spot for me is the waterfall in Living with the Land. It's one of those areas that just screams Walt Disney World to me. It's relaxing, a boat ride, and still feels like old EPCOT Center.

    Wdw podcast 2018???

Here are my favorites: Disney Dish Podcast with Jim Hill - I love the back and forth between Jim with Len Testa, particularly when looking back at history. Jim does sometimes sell rumors as the real deal, but when you realize that going in, it's a great show. They've also been doing more...

    Communicore

Nice! Martin's videos are so great to think about past attractions. I love the info beyond the ride videos like the layout and maps of how the attractions are organized.

Why the hate for Little Mermaid ride?

I think it feels like a missed opportunity. The queue is gorgeous, and certain scenes are really well done. On the other hand, it's too short and basically skips the 3rd act of the story. It would have been a brilliant dark ride with another 3-4 minutes. It feels like Disney cut the budget in...

Nostalgia: Would it have kept around the extinct attractions today?

I think that nostalgia is only part of why we long for extinct attractions. There's also concerns with the replacement (that's part of it with Frozen) and what it signifies for the park. Looking beyond that side of it, I think you could insert new versions of beloved attractions with better...

does anyone ride the astro orbitor?

It's a fun ride largely due to the view of Tomorrowland and well beyond to the Contemporary and around the park. I used to ride the Starjets a lot as a kid, but what keeps me from riding the Astro Orbiter as much is the slow line. It seems to take forever!

What is the best version of The Haunted Mansion in the world?

I would have picked Phantom Manor, which still feels like The Haunted Mansion but does a really cool take on it with the Old West theme. Given the choices up there (I haven't visited Paris), I'd go with Florida due to the updates and scenes that aren't part of California.

What is the best version of Space Mountain in the world?

I've ridden California, Orlando, and Paris. I know that it's a little rough, but my favorite was Paris. The launch is amazing, and the effects make it feel even faster than it is. I loved it! I rode Mission 2, not the original, unfortunately, It was still a stunner, though.

Bob Chapek Confirms Disney Will Overhaul Epcot

I did not click on the story from the site that won't be named (they don't need my help), but I also hope it's on the side and not at the entrance. It seems like a cool idea to have a hotel on site (though it will be SO pricey), but I don't want it blocking the views of SSE.

How far do you live from WDW ?

1,007 miles from St. Louis. While it may say about 15 hours driving, it takes longer given all the traffic lately around Nashville and Atlanta. I do like the non-stop flight that is just over 2 hours (even when it's pricey).

    Updates to the Seas Pavilion

What really bothers me about Nemo is how much they closed off the aquarium. I haven't seen issues with the effects, but I've also skipped it recently. I just feel like there was so much potential in the Living Seas, and the current dark ride is just so lazy. My kids aren't even big fans of it.

    Which one..Please help....

I'd go with AoA unless you really want a quieter time away from the crowds. With a 13-year-old, I doubt that's the goal.

Over hyped Star Wars Galaxy's Edge

I suspect they'll do well with the attractions, though I'm not that excited about piloting the Falcon. It seems too much like a video game, but that comes down to personal preference more than anything else. What I wonder is if they can really do all the immersive things they promise in the...

    Rumor New Monorails Coming Soon?

I rarely click on articles from that particular site, but I did have to read this one. While I'm entirely convinced, there is a lot of logic to the move from Disney. I also do understand the abrupt cancellation of the theater if that is helping to justify the costs of the monorails. Unlike a lot...

Appreciation of Closed Attractions in Hindsight?

I think it's also a case where an attraction may not draw the masses but has dedicated fans. There are attractions that everyone rides and most people like, but few people love. With Maelstrom, it didn't have long lines, but it's such a goofy ride that it's easy to see why it had huge fans. I'm...

Does anybody miss World of Motion?

I loved World of Motion and think it represents one of the last of its kind. It had more in common with Pirates of the Caribbean (DL version) than even Horizons because it was filled with so many audio-animatronics. It was also so long! Disney doesn't make 15-minute rides anymore for the most...

Appreciation of Closed Attractions in Hindsight?

I also think it's a case of "don't know what you've got til' it's gone" in many situations. The Great Movie Ride had some parts that weren't my favorite, but going to the Studios without it feels weird. Horizons was showing its age, but I still loved it when I last rode in May 1998. I also think...

    Calling all Epcot Experts!

I would drop the Turtle Talk FP. Even if you want to visit at 9:45, it's not going to be crazy at that point. If you want to keep it, remember that you have until 10:45 (with a small grace period) after the starting time. So you can rope drop Test Track, do a few more things, and still make it...
