Updates to the Seas Pavilion

I said it was a "swing and a miss." I agree.

...and YES - that's the problem with Epcot - it's obsolete. I think The Mouse realizes it, and they are probably in a real quandary about how to fix it. In a way, TLS is a microcosm of the whole Park.

I like trees - but planting a whole bunch of them won't fix the problem...

I agree. sadly I think some are ok with it being festival central usa and nothing more.....the vision of the theme park version of epcot. requires lots of money yeah get over it Disney for me to walk into epcot and see things I cant anywhere else in my life requires that you outpace tech....that's not cheap. I said this somewhere else but epcot used to be where I saw things that JUST NOW are becoming common.....video calling...robot vacuums lights that come on and off lots of these things i first saw at epcot.

You did, but the one that was directly involved with the pavilion thankfully was scrapped. Currently the proposal is in the parking lot / around the bus station.

I'm still very curious at what kind of theme they would do with the hotel. I'm pretty sure it won't be international themed if it's going in the front of the park, and Future World has been a thematic mess for a long time.

Yeah, a whole much of money will change the place - but will it improve it? What do they do with Future World?? If they're abandoning the "learning and future tech" theme, have no idea.

That's kinda the opinion I have as well, but I think that may be partially because of what they are trying to present and how they are trying to present it. In its current form, as odd as this may sound, The Seas focuses too much on the animals. I'm okay with Disney displaying animals just for the wonder and beauty of the animals, but that is something much more appropriate to Animal Kingdom (and I'd love to see them at some point build something similar to the Ocean Beauty exhibit at Chimelong Ocean Kingdom [Google it, it's pretty spectacular]). Epcot used to be more about human ingenuity than nature/biology and I feel like Living Seas was based more on the mysteries of the ocean and human ingenuity in exploring the ocean than on the actual biology itself. Until/unless the Nemo themes goes, I don't see this ever changing, but I feel like they could work with the current building and make something spectacular about the science/technology of exploring the ocean and then the comparison of the Seas to other aquariums would be much more moot.
Yeah, this. Instead of just meeting Crush, why can't he explain how oceans work - currents and that stuff? Or a 3D movie about ocean conservation? Oh right, because Epcot is now an extension of the Magic Kingdom, just like the other 2 parks. Edutainment, schmedutainment.

Disney is convinced people dont want to learn....as an aside people like what Disney tells them to like these days so I think they could do some education.

This is probably not going to happen but how amazing would a ride like the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea in Tokyo be? It’d be a natural fit for the pavilion of course, and could easily fit in the the overall future theme of Epcot. If done right it could really be a home run for Disney.

That definitely would be spectacular. Maybe even incorporate some of the Poseidon themes of the original attraction planned for the pavilion. I'm down!

He came out too far into the ride envelope, so it was decided to turn the effect off for the most part.

The anglerfish drives me nuts. How hard is it to keep one kuka arm running consistently? Manufacturing plants and Universal manage to keep Kuka arms functioning on a much larger scale, but Disney can't keep this little puppet running... kinda sad.
And it really is a great little show scene when working properly. I get it being down here and there but it’s basically never working.

I've only don't TT once, I remember kids asking him questions about how Sea Turtles survive in the wild, or something to that degree? Don't remember much else about it, tbh.

I've thought of this as well. I love the idea.

A marvel theme like in DLP?

This is EPCOT, so we have a choice between Pixar and Marvel. :banghead:
Or maybe hooters, fits the Food & Swine atmosphere.
