AOA is definitely more Disney cartoons everywhere.

Saratoga is nicer, but the complete opposite of that.

Probably depends most on the 13 year old, if he/she would be disappointed without characters.

do you think we would find Saratoga too spread out, although we would have a preferred room ?..Would we find it a boring resort after staying at Beach club on last visit?...13 year old is a girl who is very mature..

It’s basically horse track themed, so that can be boring for some. It’s not very explicitly “Disney.” The buildings are pretty plain from the outside.

There can be a good bit of walking to/from the restaurant/gift shop.

It’s nice and quiet.

You can walk to the boat to Disney Springs.

AoA: More Disney stuff to see just walking around, opportunities for pics with life sized cartoon figures. And a very short walk to POP Century for more of the same.

I think AoA would be your best bet. The rooms are greatly themed Disney. If you want a more immersive trip, AoA is the way to go. If you want a little break from all the Disney, then Saratoga Springs could fit you better.

I'm going through decision myself, between the Yacht Club which I already have booked, or the Wilderness Lodge. I have heard it is a more warm and romantic setting which, since this is an anniversary trip, might work better. haha.

Honestly though, take a look a trip advisor reviews on both, looks at YouTube videos and get a feel of the vibe that way. Choosing a resort is one of the hardest parts of planning, at least for me. :)

I'm not a fan of studios, if they only include a single bed. I changed my Poly reservation from a studio to a marina view room, because the marina view room had two queen sized beds. I just couldn't visualize myself or my kids sleeping on the sleeper sofa for a week.

I don't have particular experience with the Saratoga sleeper sofa, but the pull-outs and pull-downs I've used at Art of Animation and the Fort Wilderness cabins have been excellent.

AoA is pretty spread out too.
AoA has more themed pools, no pool slides. For food, only a food court and some offerings at pool bars. And I hate that food court. The food is OK, but it's so loud, like a grade school cafeteria dropped on top of another high school cafeteria dropped in a prison cafeteria.

Saratoga has pools with slides and quiet pools, at least a full serve restaurant for dinner, and, in places, walking distance to Disney Springs for more dining options. Being that close to Disney Springs is also great if any in your family likes to shop. Saratoga also has more onsite recreational amenities, plus of course the onsite spa. So if you intend to have any downtime where you can enjoy the resort, there will be more stuff to do at Saratoga. At AoA, recreation is much more limited - awesome pools, an arcade, meh playground (which is moot for your group, probably), movies under the stars sometimes, and looking at the statues.

Now having said all of that, you are considering a suite at AoA and a studio at SSR. So you'll get more living space at AoA, you'll get a kitchenette, you'll get 2 TVs...

So I guess a lot of the decision would be based on 1: how much time do you think you'll spend at the resort and 2: how much of THAT time will be spent in the room? You might really want that extra space; or maybe you might prefer having more stuff to do at the resort where you're staying and the room is nothing more than a place to sleep and shower. It would be a hard decision for my family, my wife likes the two of us having space from our kids, if, for no other reason, we can put them to bed and still watch some TV in the master bedroom. I feel like my kids had more of a "wow" factor when they first saw the pools at AoA, but once swimming, they liked the Saratoga pools more.
