A Visit to Walt's Childhood Hometown of Marceline, Missouri

Last month, I finally made it over to Marceline, Missouri. I wasn't sure what to expect. I'd read some reports online about where to go, and it looked like a fun day trip. What surprised me was how much there was to see in the Walt Disney Hometown Museum. That was a lot more than just a way to...

New V.I. Passholder Events Include Some Free After Hours Access

I'm surprised to not see the PeopleMover on the list. That seems like a no brainer and one of the most fun things to ride when the park is emptier. The list is impressive overall, though. I'd also love to see Carousel of Progress in there too so I could ride it basically empty (even more than...

Magic Kingdom ranks as 2nd most favorite amusement park in the U.S. !

I feel like right now both Universal and Disney are doing interesting things and have teams that are capable of building amazing lands (Diagon Alley, Pandora, Cars Land, etc.). The big questions are what they're going to focus on in terms of types of attractions. I'm more interested in the...

Animal Kingdom Kidani 2 Bedroom Villa or Old Key West 2 Bedroom Villa

I'd suggest Kidani because there's so much more to offer at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Its location also isn't nearly as bad as the reputation might suggest, especially when compared to Old Key West. For that price over four nights, I'd spring for it.

    Worst of the 4 Parks?

Even with Toy Story Land and the downgrade of Epcot, DHS should be at like 90%.

    Hate for childless Disney fans

I'd define it more as confusion than hate. People think going to theme parks is fun, but they often don't seem to get why it's fun without kids. Like danyoung56 mentions, it's usually in good fun. It's more just weird looks or little comments than anything else.

News New Rivers of Light Dessert Party

The dessert parties seem okay in theory, but at about half the price. They always seem like a money grab to me, especially for a show like Rivers of Light that isn't such a hard one to secure a spot. I personally love Rivers of Light, but I'd be crazy to pay more than $250 for our family to do...

The closest (best) beaches from Orlando

Cocoa Beach is fine, but I'd go with the Canaveral National Seashore instead. The reason is that it's a lot less crowded and they don't allow cars on the beach. It's in a similar area to Cocoa and New Smyrna, but feels more like a destination. It depends on personal preference, but it was a big...

How long do the mobs last when new lands open?

Good points. I like Navi River Journey more than most, but it's not an E-ticket to draw crowds. It's a pretty, relaxing complementary attraction. I do like hanging out in Pandora, especially at night, but I also was there when it wasn't crazy packed. Toy Story Land appears to have fun rides, but...

How long do the mobs last when new lands open?

I'm amazed that Toy Story Land's lines haven't been too bad after the first day. I saw a lot of 60-80 minutes for Slinky Dog Dash today. That seems fine to me, and it will likely go down as we go along. On the other hand, I expect Galaxy's Edge to be insane. It will be easier at Disney World due...

    Toy Story Land vs Hogsmede

This is an odd comparison for sure. I'd place Hogsmeade even above Pandora because Forbidden Journey is so good, and I love Pandora. Toy Story Land appears to be well done and fun, but it's on a different level despite the expense.

What attractions would you consider “sacred?”

This is a tricky question. There are some like Carousel of Progress where I wouldn't mind updating, just not replacement. So I'm thinking of attractions that I don't want closed completely or changed dramatically. Most are in the Magic Kingdom. I would have more at Epcot, but so many have...

    Skip Epcot?

We've skipped the Hollywood Studios on several trips, but never Epcot. I would suggest doing two days at the Magic Kingdom, one at Animal Kingdom, and one at Epcot. If you don't want to skip the Studios, I'd see if you can combine the Studios and Epcot (assuming you're using a park hopper)...

    Best WDW Restaurants #2: EPCOT

My favorite is still Sunshine Seasons just because of the convenience, especially when traveling with our kids. Tangerine Cafe is also a really solid QS place in World Showcase. I still need to check out a lot more of the TS places in Epcot. Le Cellier used to be one we did, but its quality went...

What Hotel is the most immersive?

My pick would be the Animal Kingdom Lodge, especially because it's located further from the action. It's easy to be there and almost forget that you're even in the chaos of Walt Disney World.

    SSE WASTED SPACE

Both the Cronkite and Irons versions had amazing descents. I loved the experience as a kid of going down with the "Tomorrow's Child" song. It summarized the attraction so well and left you feeling optimistic as you strolled back into the Florida sun. The Irons version had a lot of great sets...

    WDW or Universal?

Both! I would vote for WDW, but it's not an either/or proposition for me. I love going to both resorts and like how they're different yet still complement each other. Universal is a lot easier to navigate and has been building better attractions in the past 10 years overall. I'm excited to see...

    Post-1984 Magic Kingdom Attraction Quality

Splash Mountain is the big exception to the rule like you mention. I do think that if you include other parks, there are great examples like The Tower of Terror that are among the best Disney has ever done. I don't have arguments with most of your takes. I do like Buzz Lightyear; it just needs...

    Is Star Tours going away?

From what I've heard, it will remain in place, and they may find a better way to connect the lands. It's all speculation, but I don't see Disney removing any attractions given the crowds that will descend on Galaxy's Edge.
