You are right it was not just moderate ( I used to say it was moderate to severe, then just started saying moderate) Looking at NIH guidelines it was severe not moderate. Due to my SpO2 average numbers. ( 92 to 90. Dropped to 80s if I walked)...

Guidelines say mild is a fever less than 100 and something. Moderate is a fever above 100 and something. Severe same as moderate. They all list other symptoms too ( I had them all but no loss of taste or smell ) Critical is pretty much oxygen and respirator. I will look for the cdc link and edit...

Being fully vaccinated 10 months ago with detectable antibodies from vaccine back in June two weeks before I came down moderate covid, I can say in my case it was a lot worse than any common cold I had in my life. 102.9 fever for a week. SpO2 dropping into the 80s for two weeks Dropped 20lbs...

It will be interesting to see if clinical data in the future supports the lab results as reported in cell about how people( technically their serum) who have had prior versions of covid ( not the vaccines) may not be producing effective neutralizing antibodies to delta ( B.1.617.2 ) and...

Funny thing about data. It is likely that in June when I got moderate covid here in central Florida I might have been counted as unvaccinated even though I was fully vaccinated by the end of September 2020. when you go online to get a covid test appointment with CVS it asks you if you had been...

So a short correspondence describing lab results of Pfizer , Moderna, and original covid subjects neutralizing ability against delta and kappa. In summary ( mind you this is my summary so give it less weight, see their paper for exactly the summary they used) : neutralizing ability is 2.9...

LaughingGravy said: If you go back into my very old posts you will find links to the studies (primary sourced (mostly) and most links I did are from lancet , cell, nejm etc. The studies showed most transmissions were from presymptomatic not thise that never got symptoms. Interesting speculation ( not a primary source/study) on why vaccinated who still have antibodies might get symptomatic covid. The idea is that waning but still existing antibodies get overwhelmed by Delta’s effective creation of high viral loads until memory b cells kick in to produce more...

Interesting data point from my recent covid experience. The small methodist church I go to had many vaccinated ( or so I was told) people who got symptomatic covid the same time I did( symptomatic on June 15th) a few are still hospitalized. ( Do not know if they were vaccinated) So whatever...

Pfizer alone had 42000 ( or about) participants once they expanded it. Half placebo. ( all later vaccinated around March) But Moderna and later J&J had studies too. Moderba around 30000, J&J around 60,000 ( that was thisr goal) The initial Pfizer study was about 15,000 vaccinated and 15,000...

Speaking of Genetics my 91 yo father got asymptomatic covid last Christmas and was not vaccinated ( But he got vaccinated later) So I was surprised when my vaccinated self got moderate symptomatic covid in June

Yes many factors could come into play. Genetics, time of vaccination ( her’s vaccination was a month after mine), initial viral exposure. Initial immune system response relative to initial virus load , and of course different vaccines. Lots of things to confound someone from determining the root...

I agree. Pfizer may just be noting a trend in their trial participants who are closing in on 10-11 months since vaccinated. That data may not yet be published, and provide insight that the FDA and CDC may not have . I think Pfizer has more than enough existing demand worldwide, so if they are...

As a vaxxed person ( Pfizer phase 3 participant vaxxed in Sept 2020) who got moderate+ covid this mid June, and has had many colds in my life. Moderate covid is much worse than a cold. BTW I still have a dry short cough. The research site doing the Pfizer study called me today to let me know...

Speaking from personal experience… being vaccinated does not mean one is at no risk from covid. But it is a very good mitigation of risk. Variants can change the risk so being concerned about them is a reasonable concern. But life is not risk free.

Chances with the Delta variant of getting covid is greater than with earlier variants. So cases are likely up relative to what they would be without Delta. But hospitalization are not overwhelming at this time, and at 64% effectiveness against Delta Pfizer is still above the FDA minimum of...

Just a minor update. Now that I read the report from quest diagnostics of my original covid19 test the ct number shows I had a very high viral load, especially for someone fully vaccinated. Also they were unable to sequence the virus. Additionally CVS questionarrie when scheduling the test...

Trials actually allowed people that had covid to be part of Phase 3, as long as they had not loss sense of taste and smell. Locally the research site said back in August/Sept 10-20% of potential subjects tested positive. I think some studies show a much stronger antibody response with those who...
