Prizes/Rules of Year of Million Dreams Giveaway

Yeah, all the complaints about only a dozen good prizes is totally off-base. I mean there are around 300 of the castle stays alone (I'm sure one per night through the entire promotion once the suite is completed). But there are alot of really cool, unique prizes. It's not just a bunch of...

Say "NO!" to Pixie Dust pins!

Well, obviously it's a marketing ploy. What else would it be? But to me, this is a really cool marketing ploy. Personally I see alot of prizes, even the ones further down the list, that I think are really cool and original. For example, the pass to MNSSHP is not just, "Here's a ticket, have...

Say "NO!" to Pixie Dust pins!

I just went on the Disney website, and in the YOMD area official rules it lists literally thousands of cool "dreams" they're giving away. There are 60 trip prizes, 367 penthouse stays, 307 castle stays, and then dozens of shopping sprees, restaurant meals, and special event passes, along with...

Say "NO!" to Pixie Dust pins!

All this talk about marketing the pins.... By this logic, why do people get excited about any contest? Why do people play the lottery? Why, when in reality all they're going to get is maybe $10 if anything? Are the pins some amazing prize? No. But I really want to know what you expect as...

Say "NO!" to Pixie Dust pins!

I guess I need a comparison to know what they SHOULD have done. What do they normally do in a year where there are no big events? And don't tell me the Epcot anniversary is big, because the general population doesn't care about that. You're not going to get the general public to come to WDW...

Say "NO!" to Pixie Dust pins!

Regarding the Lutz quote, I just don't understand where he's coming from? He mentions a dozen or so big prizes. That sounds about right to me in any promotion. Most promotions have about that many big prizes. So I guess the complaints are about the daily freebies given away? What's wrong...

Say "NO!" to Pixie Dust pins!

I have nothing against Epcot, and hope it gets some sort of celebration for its 25th, but I'm kind of disturbed by the negative reaction to the YOMD promotion in general. The pins are a nice idea. It's not earth-shattering or anything, but it's fine. What are people expecting?

    Thanksgiving in the Parks Question

My wife and I are going down on Thanksgiving day and staying a week at the Boardwalk. It's our favorite resort, so that's more why we picked it than being close to any particular Thanksgiving/Christmas event. The nice thing about being near Epcot is we find it to be better in multiple short...

    Big Thunder Mountain Announcement

Yeah, that must have been a MAJOR rehab to change that voice. I can't believe we didn't receive a press release.

Backlot Tour May Go Bye Bye

As it currently stands, it should just be completely eliminated. That said, I could easily see how they could keep it, even though the place is no longer a working studio. If it were me, and I wanted to keep the studio theme of the park, I'd just make all the studio elements fake, same as the...

    Saving Tables

I actually see no problem in saving tables. It's easier to find a table when you don't have a tray full of food with you, especially at Pecos Bill's. So you find it, and then go get the food, knowing exactly where you're heading when you get out of line.

What do you think is the best fireworks show?

Wishes, just because it kind of encapsulates the entire reason I'm there. Plus that little girl singing "Starlight, starbright," always chokes me up.

Why does the Boardwalk have no atmosphere?

I echo these sentiments exactly. Some people enjoy peace and quiet. I think any offense taken is based on the insinuation that those people are snooty.

    Questions About Sci-Fi Dine-In

I think you can only request the car table once you get to the restaurant. It may take a little longer than if you just accepted any table, but they won't force you to take a regular table if you want a car.

    EMH hours posted online

We were doing the same thing for our trip and my memory is that it was pretty much on the 1st of the month. Maybe first business day, I forget exactly, but definitely within the first few days.

    Tipping with Dining Plan

I'm not following you. If you care about table manners, then someone using the wrong utensils with each course is going to look like a dolt. You obviously don't care about traditional table manners, so you wouldn't care. I doubt personally I would care about that specific issue, but the...

    Tipping with Dining Plan

No. That's not social ettiquette. That's your personal opinion. You may also think it's okay to eat your salad with your dessert fork, but it's not. Does it make you a bad person? No. Can you physically do it? Yes. Does the food taste the same? Yes. But does it make you look like a...

    Tipping with Dining Plan

I've been in and out of this post, so I haven't read everything, but look, we all know the "by the book" tip is 15%, up to 20% if you felt the service was noticeably good, less if it was noticeably bad. Period. Do you have to do it? No. But don't try to rationalize it. You're cheap. That's...
