Think of it as A Festival of EPCoT. It does have very cool terrazzo floors. Oh, and neon above the checkout lanes. And, don't forget LED Pixel lighting driven by a Raspberry Pi. You gotta love those details!
AK was the worst for getting headliners in the order you wanted, even with FP+. IIRC, what you experienced is what happened with the old paper FP (of course, we didn't have Navi back then, Safari instead).

some of our best epcot memories are in the EU, 2nd floor. Best place to stop before getting on the Monorail to head back to the Poly. I thought they kept the place clean and tidy. Did it look like the 90's? Sure. But, it had character; either you loved it or hated it. Now, I just miss it.

Batuu has that same problem; I don't recognize it. It resembles SW. But, not necessarily one I want to visit.
