I think they will change the rule when they feel it’s in their best interest to do so. There is likely no rush to drop indoor masks from a business prospective. From 10/1 through the holidays WDW will be packed so they don’t need to drop masks to entice people who don’t like masks to come. They also want to maximize crowd size so having an alternative mitigation is more favorable than selling less tickets. My gut says indoor masks could stay through the calendar year but they could also be dropped next week.

My employer just announced today that masks will be mandatory for everyone regardless of vaccination status starting Friday. Vaccines are not mandated yet but I would imagine that the union would have to sign off on that.

It would be wonderful if Disney had a magical anti-viral barrier around the parks, so that thousands of people could be packed together indoors and never have to worry about catching a potentially dangerous virus until after they leave.

We will be wearing mask on public transportation and rightfully so until at least 2023. We are nowhere close with 1500 people per day dying.

I don't want to wait until 2023 now. I bet next year as public transportation will end mask mandate as the cases will be low enough. Don't be true now.

Two different mindsets, at work / home we are judged by our friends, families , colleagues. On vacation , it is that no one knows me, I don't care, what happens in Vegas ( or any other location ) stays in Vegas.

True about the mind set but after wards there is a reckoning (the proverbial blast from the past) that follows folks home where they are judged. Actually what happens in Vegas, now a days, does not tend to stay in Vegas.

Option 1: When cases in FL at least and preferably large parts of the country fall to Moderate Transmission levels. Probably and stay there for 7 plus days continuing to trend down. Below 50 cases per 100k for the last 7 days. Maintained for 7 days in a row, trending down.

Option 2: When demand drops and they believe it’s masks that are keeping people away. Probably need to also be at least in Substantial Transmission. Possible demand drop alone while still in High Transmission, but I doubt it.

I think those are the most likely scenarios. While I think 1 is better, I can easily see 2 happening.

The positivity metric was always a poor choice to base indoor masking on.

Interesting those numbers don't coincide with the CDC numbers for covid-19. You would think they would use the same metric. Even more scary is that that many people died of heart diseases and cancer.

Heart disease and cancer are also each a group of diseases with varying causes. COVID-19 is one disease with one cause.

That is splitting hairs. You can break up covid into some kind of groups as well if you really want to.

Its way to early to even guess, but like cancer is there some kind of genetic predisposition to suffer covid's effects more than others? Perhaps one day we will know. Should we be grouping covid based on what kind of underlaying causes they had when they got it? You can certainly, at a minimum, have two groups. Vaxxed and non-vaxxed. Then the specific death counts of each. Daily news at the moment. That said, heart disease and cancer are not contagious. So covid has its own special place.

But in the end only one thing matters. Dead is dead.

Numbers aren't that far off considering JAMA states these are not finalized numbers.

It’s not splitting hairs. You can’t break up COVID-19 into different diseases and causes. It is one disease (COVID-19) with one cause (an infection of SARS-CoV-2 virus). There is no COVID-19 caused by genetics or diet caused COVID-19 or bacterial COVID-19. Severity doesn’t change the disease. Being vaccinated and then being infected with SARS-CoV-2 doesn’t give you a different disease.
