People who are turned off by paid FP or denied waiting in a line will find another line to get in... so while you wait for the headliners will be managed, the wait for the second tier of attractions will inflate more because they are the outlet for people to goto.

Right i understand that but with only a few offerings in 3 of the 4 parks, there might not be any way to avoid virtual standby queue because the lines will be too long...............Plus, this is what Disney wants, forcing you to pay

It worked like a charm…fastpass 1.0

the problem is they let the merch go to $@!! and people stopped craving it. And the internet

As far as the waits for smaller rides goes…that was the debaucle of + and the “choose 3” crap…people stressed getting on things they would never have before…and therefore were more likely to skip and do something prior. It made the lack of capacity for what you paid blatantly obvious when it was previously barely noticed. It just pancaked the mentality of the customer on top of itself.

that is a huge fail.

chapek is an unfit clown - for many reasons - but I think a huge one is here: I think his stance is “if you don’t want THAT…you should be willing to pay (after you paid)”

just that amount of hubris

People (myself included) will not be happy if they're near full capacity and having to wait in a queue for 2-3 hours just for 1 ride.

I really do not think losing out on merch or food is a motivator for many guests over rides anymore or even much of the entertainment. At a minimum $100 per day people will prioritize the rides as much as possible.

That's a good point made on the merch and how it's the same everywhere. It's gotten to the point for me that I'll go in to some of the smaller stores just to see if there's anything different, and there are always a few that tend to have something I haven't seen anywhere else, like Merchant of Venus.

Pure idle speculation on my part, but I wonder if they wouldn't mind people saying "If I have to pay to pass the line, I won't buy as much merch" since they could buy and stock less of it in the parks. After all, in Chappie's mind, you could buy that shirt at Target and let them worry about the cost of having that inventory, while the parks buy only what it needs.

Interesting take. Less inventory moving also means fewer people on the payroll required to manage, stock the shelves, and sell said items too. Paid line skips doesn't require more staff than Disney had before yet yields additional profit.

Still waiting......... Not booking a trip until we know what it will be like. My money is sitting out till then. Wonder how many other are in the same boat? We were going to do BLT or GF Villa, but if there is no benefit we will stay off-site, pay for fast passes, and still probably save money.

I don’t know what they’re waiting for at this point. If this is something they want in place for October 1st, why are they dragging their feet with the announcement? 🤦🏻‍♀️

We stayed at hard rock universal. It’s less than half the price of BLt and GF and the hotel is awesome, the pool is incredible and you get free express pass. You can still go to WDW for 3 days by getting park hopper and doing HS, MK and AK during the day and park hop to Epcot at night (open latest and best night park) and then do 3 days at universal with zero lines and buy FP at Disney parks and have no lines.

you would save almost $3,000 on a 7 night stay by staying at universal and could use that money towards paid fast pass or pocket it if the lines aren’t bad

I dont know why anyone would stay at a Disney resort any more. That plan is cheaper, no lines, nicer hotel and a great experience too.

I feel like it has to be a holdup on the IT end, although that's just my guess. I can't imagine they want to debut a new system on or right before the 50th begins - if there are problems that leaves them very little time to regroup. If they don't introduce it by then crowds and lines will be insane.
