I'm alive and have no lasting effects from my covid time back in December. I realize my experience isn't others, but that works in reverse as well.

I am happy for you and I don't mean that in any snarky way in the slightest.
We were hit really hard with the first Covid-19 in NJ and have direct personal experience with its effects on others, much more than I ever thought.
I do sleep much better now, but am still saddened by the loss of people we knew who could have been here if not for the timing of knowledge and availability of vaccines.
It's been surreal.

Ok. So when you do get the virus eventually, because at this point it’s more and more likely for you being unvaccinated, how many people do you think you will unknowingly infect? And how many of those do you think will end up in the hospital? And how many of those will die? And how many of those will be your loved ones?

Bottom line. It’s your choice but your excuses are lame. Get the effin shot and stop pretending you’re saving yourself from something horrible by not.

I followed all the rules last time and got it. Tell me again how things will be different this time?

Kids are still allowed to wear masks to school in florida. It’s optional right? So if they come to school without one, that seems to mean their parents agree with the stance of the state.

I am concerned about the amount of bullying that will occur when there is a mixed group of masked/unmasked kids at school. As if the kids don't have enough to worry about, between the type of clothing they wear, or who their friends are. A fellow Mom is actually pulling her kids out of school (high school) because of that concern.

I've known plenty of folks who died from the original strain. One co-worker lost 3 relatives within 2 weeks.

You are assuming kids don’t get sent to school in a mask and just take it off as soon as they are out of parent’s sight. You are also assuming all these kids have parents who actually care. I personally think in a place like FL where cases are so widespread they should require masks in school. If parents feel strongly against that they can pull their kids and send them to private school or home school.

This time is different because you can prevent yourself from getting it, at least for the most part. But you are now deciding you’re willing to spread it again if you get it. That’s an intentional move on your part.

I personally think the opposite. I think it should be optional.

Guys the vaccine is 90% effective at protecting you from symptomatic Covid. Yesterday Florida had a seven day average of 574 per 1000k. That means that in Florida vaccinated people are averaging 52 per 100k cases a week. It’s measurable when the numbers are this high. That doesn’t mean it’s not working.

Let’s all take a deep breath. I am fully vaccinated, I got the vaccine as soon as I was eligible, It was a no brainer for me personally. We need people who are unvaccinated to get the vaccine now so what I think would motivate me is largely irrelevant. Instead of just coming down on @draybook for not agreeing with us it’s probably more beneficial to listen to his reasoning as it gives us far more insight into what may ultimately work. He mentioned full FDA approval as being important maybe but ultimately he probably won’t get it unless his employer requires it. I think that shows us a clear path to getting more people to go in. Corporations have already started this and I think many more will follow once full FDA approval comes in. I’m not saying one guy’s thinking paints the whole picture and there are other reasons people haven’t gotten vaccinated or won’t, but it is a common opinion we’ve seen a lot of places including most polling.

Since what is really being discussed and "terrifying people" is children being mandated to wear "cloth face coverings" not "masks," I thought I'd throw out this quote. This is on top of the statistically very low risk to children from COVID which doesn't seem to have changed with the Delta variant.

"We know today that many of the face cloth coverings that people wear are not very effective in reducing any of the virus movement in or out, either you're breathing out or you're breathing in. And, in fact, if you're in the upper mid west right now, everybody who's wearing their face cloth covering can tell you they can smell all the smoke that we're still getting. We need to talk about better masking, we need to talk about N95 respirators which would do a lot for both people who are not yet vaccinated or not previously infected protecting them as well as keeping others who might become infected having been vaccinated from breathing out the virus.

This thing about staying alive and seriously reducing the possibility of long term effects like death appeals to me.

Seriously tho. That objection never made much sense to me. If all I have to do is schedule a appointment and get a shot that takes 30 seconds so I can protect myself and others, and resume most of my normal life, then sign me up. Oh and avoiding death and all is an added perk

So, how do the pro-vaccine folks here feel about the Delta strain not giving a rip about the vaccine and the Lambda strain whooping its tail in lab tests? Are you pre-registered for your new vaccines?

If he or she is not vaccinated I hope it happens soon, but coming in a 12 o'clock high for the "pro-vaccine folks" doesn't give me much motivation to listen to his/her reasoning.

People always tell me to listen to the experts. I'm just posting what he said. He said it on CNN so not a place slanted towards my point of view.
