Dang it, I hope my home park, Six Flags Great Adventure will not return indoor masks as the state has higher vaccination as ever.
They are running trials for this right now. Israel jumped the gun IMO but I won't judge. They are looking at elderly and immunocompromised right now vs younger too to see if it's needed. I had my third shot a week ago with Pfizer-BioNTech. Pretty convinced it was the real thing, but I'll eventually be unblinded and we'll go from there as needed. Pfizer-BioNTech has been excellent about making sure the needs of those in their trials have been met.Israel is considering giving a third shot to at risk people who got their second shot early on. I don't know if the have evidence supporting diminished antibody levels or if it is just an assumption
Eventually yes. But I will not guess when.Does anyone else think every wave of this virus will get smaller and smaller?
Hear me out. With every wave it infects more and more unvaxxed people. Between them getting natural immunity and the few continuing to get vaccinated it’ll eventually run out of people to infect.
Maybe In a year, next summer, we don’t have waves any more but upticks in cases here and there.
Granted the vaccines hold and no variant comes along to pierce immunity, does that sound right to anyone else?
Yup! Though some innocent bystanders so to speak will be affected too. Hopefully not bad.Our country, the most advanced in the world sure have a lot of misled individuals that refuse to get the vaccine. It is a pandemic for the unvaccinated.
What irks me is that some I know who refused to get the vaccine are now going about their daily lives - unmasked. They are running trials for this right now. A lot of them were doing this, or trying to do this, as much as possible prior. Look at the maskholes being jerks on airlines still as an example. Some people I fear will never learn. What bothers me most is the risk they are to others with lessened immune systems. One cousin by marriage keeps putting their own parent undergoing cancer treatments at risk without care. Their parent couldn't vaccinate while doing certain treatments. (Edit: to add the parent has been since vaccinated but it took until late spring to be okay)What irks me is that some I know who refused to get the vaccine are now going about their daily lives - unmasked.
Agreed. Basic math tells us this is true. Unless a mutation occurs that defeats the vaccines and/or natural immunity the number of people who are not immune shrinks every time someone either gets vaccinated or gets infected. As the base of potential victims shrinks the outbreaks will get smaller and smaller over time. It may not be linear but the trend will be that outbreaks or waves are getting shorter and the peaks are lower. As I’ve said for a while now, a lot of people have chosen the hard way to get immune. We will not stop seeing these new waves that overwhelmingly impact the unvaccinated until enough people get immune one way or the other.Does anyone else think every wave of this virus will get smaller and smaller?

Israel has some data but it is dirty ( Confounded by other factors so the results from that data are in question)Israel is considering giving a third shot to at risk people who got their second shot early on. Nah, we will end up with a smaller, educated and critically thinking population.I have a horrible prediction by fall. This COVID-19 pandemic will get worse in US than last year, as the surges, spikes and waves will getting harder as Delta variants as other future variants will be hard to beat so bad even fall and winter comes, we are so screwed up as indoor masks or mask mandates will return for even LONGER for years because Delta variant is so hard to end it the pandemic because as the unvaccinated people as full vaccinated people will get infecting and die so years to come...This is the end of the world to come people, we are never gonna beat COVID-19 pandemic for years to come, even the restrictions will be longer as possible many many many years to come.....

The NY Times reported there were over 81,000 new cases in the US yesterday and over 10,000 in Florida. This is a major problem because we will soon be over 100,000 cases a day. The US is moving in the wrong direction as the same time vaccinations are under 300,000 a day. Who is to blame for this dramatic increase in cases and decrease in vaccinations? Minorities and the young. This is clearly a huge pandemic of the unvaccinated and while many want to blame this on politics it is not the case because the two biggest groups that aren't vaccinated are not in the group being blamed. What needs to be done now is get everyone vaccinated but that is up to us and for those who don't get vaccinated, it is their fault and deserve what happens to them. The taxpayers should not foot their bills caused by their stupidity.
Take the shot or take responsibility. Take the shot or get sick but in no way cause the rest of us our freedoms both financially and socially. We did the right thing and shouldn't be punished for the stupidity of others. Under no circumstances close the economy down again. Maybe, try one last thing and give one last stimulus check to everyone who was vaccinated and those who get fully vaccinated in the next 6 weeks.
We went to the one in MA once because hubby's boss gave us passes. We were there 15 minutes and haven't been back. No shade ANYWHERE. (Disney could learn a thing or two about what NOT to do from them.)There is almost nothing in that park indoors, except for restaurants, such as they are. Hate that place. Horrible layout.
Really and truly, never going back, even for free. I'll still watch videos because I do like to keep up with what's current.
It's wasn't meant as you personally. From the top down everyone has the good enough attitude. What do you expect us to do though? I really am at a loss on how to fix it, so I've had to "settle" thanks to anti-vax rhetoric being spewed by so many.
I know not me personally and really my question is for all out there. What can we really do to make a big dent in the unvaccinated? It's wasn't meant as you personally. From the top down everyone has the good enough attitude.
My other thing is the rhetoric of expecting cases to rise when you drop mitigations. Our cases have been dropping since reopening. Mainly due to 80% having 1 dose and 60% fully vaccinated. Yes vaccines do work but they truly really work when many are vaccinated. It's why I have no empathy for places that decided good enough is enough.
I don’t think that will help much at this point. It’s pretty simple to create a fake vaccine card. All that has stopped the mass production of the fakes is a need. If you start restricting people widespread they will just get the fake cards. If someone doesn’t trust the government enough to not get a life saving vaccine the government forcing it on them (even indirectly) is not going to motivate them. The anti-Vaxx movement would love to see a vaccine passport implemented, it would swell their ranks. This isn’t just my opinion either. There was a study out of Israel I posted many pages back which showed their vaccine passports were highly effective at getting businesses re-opened and the economy going but that they hurt the overall vaccination effort due to more backlash against government control. The US has more anti-government sentiment than Israel already so the effect could be worse. It’s time to get serious about it with these people. Not vaccinated? No concerts, no restaurants, no public events, no theme parks.
They have some of the better rides for a Six Flags park.We went to the one in MA once because hubby's boss gave us passes. We were there 15 minutes and haven't been back. No shade ANYWHERE. (Disney could learn a thing or two about what NOT to do from them.)
ETA: There's virtually no green anywhere, either. It felt like walking into a dystopian world.
The fact is the best you can do is get vaccinated and encourage those around you that will actually listen to you to go in. That’s about it. I live in PA where 78% of adults are vaccinated and I have my shots. Someone who lives in Mississippi where 48% of adults are vaccinated that has their own vaccine done has done just as much as I have. It’s not their fault that others around them are not vaccinated. I don’t get this attitude that if someone is from an area with high vaccination they have somehow “done better” than someone who lives in a less vaccinated area. I just consider myself lucky to live in an area with a high level of vaccination since my youngest isn’t eligible yet. All we control is our own actions and maybe our kids.I know not me personally and really my question is for all out there. What can we really do to make a big dent in the unvaccinated?
I have empathy for those who have been good about following rules and suggestions and still are at risk due to the population around them not being vaccinated for no good reason. I still feel bad for anyone who gets sick. I have little to none who get sick and then still spread anti-vax ideas.
It's too late for that unfortunately. I don't think making it FDA approved will make much a dent. As soon as CDC screwed up with the masking guidelines it was over. IMO it should have been masks are to stay in place til a certain percentage of people are vaccinated.I know not me personally and really my question is for all out there. What can we really do to make a big dent in the unvaccinated?

I think the best way to get more people vaccinated is for the FDA to give full approval and then a massive PR campaign following shortly after and then an additional stimulus check tied directly to vaccine status. If that all started tomorrow and kids under 12 were approved by Oct 1, I think we could get north of 75% of the total population vaccinated by the end of the year.
Meh. Just not worth it. The lack of relief from the sun reflecting off of the pavement was really, REALLY bad. They have some of the better rides for a Six Flags park.
You know what I'm tired of? People blaming the CDC on this. They are very clear on their guidelines. Our policy makers screwed it up by not making unvaccinated still mask. It's too late for that unfortunately. I don't think making it FDA approved will make much a dent. As soon as CDC screwed up with the masking guidelines it was over. IMO it should have been masks are to stay in place til a certain percentage of people are vaccinated.
I disagree and I do feel we have done better. I know you only control your own actions. My issue has always been with the way the CDC and leadership has handled this. The fact is the best you can do is get vaccinated and encourage those around you that will actually listen to you to go in. That’s about it. I live in PA where 78% of adults are vaccinated and I have my shots. Ii do agree somewhat but they knew businesses and policy makers weren't going to do anything about that. IMO the message should have been masks stay in place til a high percentage is vaccinated. You know what I'm tired of? People blaming the CDC on this. They are very clear on their guidelines.
