…just with way better/smarter people in between.
rewind and read the crazy from last year…ugly trip down memory lane
One of their chores is personal hygiene. Without it, they're a danger to others. Not all others, not even most others, just some others.Let me lay out a hypothetical.
Two brothers with a strict mom.
Rules are simple, you can’t go out and have fun play video games not anything, until your chores are done. You have to do your own chores no one can do them for you.
Brother Vac does his chores every day and after a very long and grueling school year sets out to enjoy his summer.
Brother Anti does not do his chores. He is not allowed to go out and enjoy things like his brother. ( even though he does anyways when Mom is not looking )
Things go along fine for a bit but Mom becomes very frustrated , coming up with strict rules that neither brother can do anything until all chores are done.
Brother Vac still does everything he is suppose to.
He try’s to talk to brother Anti and show him that it’s for the greater good to do his chores.
Brother Anti doesn’t care it’s his right to do what he wants.
All that changes is that now is brother Vac is stuck at home.
To make matters worse brother Anti is still sneaking out doing whatever he wants and rubbing it in brother Vac’s face.
For the vaccinated among us we are all brother Vac.
This is the root of the problem. Janie cannot tell which brother is Vac and which is Anti. So, she has to assume they're both Anti. All interactions with Vac will suffer simply because there's no way to tell them apart. It's a lowest common denominator problem. Why is the true source of the problem not being attacked? The people who refuse to vaccinate.
I think most people on this thread know how well they work. Most here I think are informed When you read articles like the one I’m leaving a link for, and see that 99% of deaths right now from Covid are the unvaccinated. That’s a huge number and I can’t see how anyone can look at it and continue to nit get the shot. Article also covers cases going up in 43 states. Blows the mind.To follow up on discussion around delta variant:
Dr. Anthony Fauci, chief medical adviser to President Joe Biden, did the round of Sunday talk shows on Sunday to say COVID-19 vaccine boosters are not needed in the U.S. right now as almost all new cases are in unvaccinated people, but he didn’t rule out that they may be needed over time for certain individuals.
This just highlights what most people have been saying all along, the vaccines work…really, really well.

I have found this whole thing fascinating in terms of learning how something new, and something like this works. I haven't learned so much since college. Virology, psychology, sociology, geo-political, economy. This one has got it all. And it's all happening in real-time. I have enjoyed chatting about it with all of you, because things like this don't come around every day (Yes, I would choose not having to do any of this, but since that's not an option...) I am going to enjoy the learning process.I guess this puts me in the doom and gloom crowd here according to a few here. You can be positive but also bring up the facts of what’s going on around us.
I believe, and if I’m wrong I hope the OP corrects me, is that a few of us that have been here way to long were being called doom and gloomers last March and April and may.. maybe the whole summer. #GoofGoof and I were on the end of that because we were saying to be safe.. stay inside as much as possible.. etc. we were canceling trips as others here were saying just stay in your basements.. cowards..etc. Just go back and read from back then.Your posts are relevant and filled with substantive content; there is no reason to explain or defend them against unwarranted criticism.
Well, it is a Disney parks forum, and the title of the thread is Corona Virus and WDW. So people should be just speaking about Covid in terms of Disney parks. But that has proven to be an impossibility.I was speaking in general terms...nut just about Disney parks.
There have been a few times that you've used language that definitely came off as a "dig" to those who think things are moving too quickly. If you didn't intend them that way, I apologize, but you should be aware of that nonetheless. How am I harping on anyone who wants to be cautious? I am the first to defend people who choose to still wear a mask when someone says they shouldn’t anymore. I have no issue with anyone wearing a mask or staying home or not traveling or not seeing their families. It’s all a choice and I said in the post you quoted everyone moves at a different pace. Have I once in this thread directly quoted one of your posts and called you out for being too cautious? I cancelled a trip to WDW last year because I deemed it not a good idea for me and my family while the cases were high and none of us were vaccinated. Things have changed and for the positive.
I am following the science and following the same experts we have been following since day 1. The experts told me last year to wear a mask and not travel and not see my family. They are now telling me that fully vaccinated people can do things in public with no mask and no distancing, that it’s OK to travel again, that it’s OK to see family. I am celebrating the success of the vaccines and I am personally happy about a return to these somewhat normal activities. I see no issue with people celebrating these things, but when I post things like that which are positive they are often met with comments about how we are moving too fast, how we haven’t vaccinated enough people or now the vaccines aren’t as effective or are fading and that it‘s irresponsible to do these things that public health experts and the government deem safe. Those are the types of posts I’m referring to.
As far as the delta variant goes, who knows what the impact will be. One guy says 500,000 cases a day, I hope he’s wrong. Since the majority of cases in the US are now delta variant I’m not sure it’s accurate to say it hasn’t hit yet. I am optimistic that in highly vaccinated areas the impact will be both shorter and less severe. If you go back to posts in Feb when cases started dropping in the US there were similar posts about the UK variant becoming dominant and driving a 3rd wave. Luckily for us the UK variant became dominant and it didn’t resulted in a 3rd wave or a prolonged spike in cases but I think it was due to getting vaccines done as fast as possible. My hope is that same progression occurs with Delta. If not we will adjust and in the worst case we can always roll out a booster. It’s too soon to pull the trigger on that, but the option is on the table.
I will say that most of the posters who would have used the term "gloom and doom" in the spring and summer of 2020 have long since left this discussion.I believe, and if I’m wrong I hope the OP corrects me, is that a few of us that have been here way to long were being called doom and gloomers last March and April and may.. maybe the whole summer. #GoofGoof and I were on the end of that because we were saying to be safe.. stay inside as much as possible.. etc. we were canceling trips as others here were saying just stay in your basements.. cowards..etc. Just go back and read from back then.
Now things have turned around so much and a few here have noticed some here have now started using the term doom and gloom .. after fighting the same thing a year ago. It’s like a former smoker who would tell anyone it’s their right to smoke away.. then quits and talks about how nasty smokers are and how bad the smell is.
In saying all this, I may be way off base but it’s what I’m getting out of here. Feel free to correct me if I am.
They have for the most part and I think that’s my point. It’s like coming back again when I guess it shouldn’t be.I will say that most of the posters who would have used the term "gloom and doom" in the spring and summer of 2020 have long since left this discussion.
I know…but you don’t need any trollMy post was a joke.
They’re probably at Applebee’s looking for the delta variantI will say that most of the posters who would have used the term "gloom and doom" in the spring and summer of 2020 have long since left this discussion.
I really don’t have anything else to say. I think as I said a few pages back, it’s all been said and there’s not much left to talk about. I will probably pop in now and then to share a bit of good information I come across especially as I relates to WDW but the back and forth isn’t productive so everyone stay safeThere have been a few times that you've used language that definitely came off as a "dig" to those who think things are moving too quickly. If you didn't intend them that way, I apologize, but you should be aware of that nonetheless.
Nah! Just look in the shadows.I will say that most of the posters who would have used the term "gloom and doom" in the spring and summer of 2020 have long since left this discussion.
Lock it down, Mama…Well, it is a Disney parks forum, and the title of the thread is Corona Virus and WDW. So people should be just speaking about Covid in terms of Disney parks. But that has proven to be an impossibility.
It was the lead from January to may…I will say this. From an outsiders perspective it does feel like the majority of Americans are doing thisin regards to Covid. It's not just people but media too. When I do see US News barely any mention of Covid anymore.
Here in Canada Covid vaccinations lead the news most nights. Most people are focused on getting people vaccinated and still are very cautious. It's why it's hard to relate to most in this thread.
