We're telling you the facts as to why what you want doesn't work - it has nothing to do with beliefs. You just don't like it.

What facts have you provided me? I’m not arguing that masks don’t slow the spread, the absolutely do. But clear goals and incentives will definitely make more people get vaccinated. What’s evidence is there to suggest that vaccinated people spread the virus? What evidence exists that you’re at a risk of contracting the virus after being vaccinated? Breakthrough infections are extremely rare and even less fatal. Also why after I’m vaccinated do I no longer need to quarantine after exposure? Wouldn’t that suggest I’m not a risk of asymptotic spread? Also cloth masks don’t prevent spread of an airborne virus. They definitely help but they aren’t anywhere near 100% effective. Also CDC says that for every 1 case that’s diagnosed there are 2-3 that get missed. That means between 100-120 million people in the us have a natural immunity to the virus. Top that with the 200+ million vaccines that have been administered and you can see why cases and deaths are down 80% since January. I’m not being unreasonable it’s literally what the science says. You want more vaccines? Find better ways to incentivize younger people to get them. It’s common sense. They’re clearly not scared of it so the CDC trying to tell them that there is “impending doom” on the horizon because of variants isn’t going to work. Then the CDC wants to say that the vaccines are very effective against known variants. So which is it? Impending doom because of variants or the vaccines are effective?

So if your goal is to force businesses to do something than sure it’s a win, but for the businesses it’s a nightmare. Not sure why we can’t just make a goal of percent vaccinated and when we hit it the rules are relaxed. Then we accomplish #1 without having to endure #2. The poor CMs and workers in other businesses have been through enough we don’t need to set them up for more conflict. It’s not too difficult.

I’m all for that idea. But Disney is hush hush on their plans. Maybe they should consider changing that?

They’ve been told, clearly it doesn’t matter.

It was pointed out a hundred plus pages ago “Enough vaccinated, we get back to normal, lose masks”. Because it’s not INSTANT RIGHT NOW, not bothering to get vaccinated will not speed it up, only delay it. So, yes, they’ve been told, get vaccinated we'll get back to normal, and it hasn’t mattered at all.


The end goal hasn’t moved since day 1. There have been additional intermediate goals. But eliminating/reducing widespread community spread has always been the goal. There mostly hasn’t been an exact number for that, but even here, nobody thinks we’re there yet. Nobody thinks it’s 0 either.

Recently, there have been a few communities with explicit vaccinated percentage goals. These are a proxy for reduced spread based on enough vaccinated reducing community spread.

Still doesn’t seem to matter.

The only conclusion is that people actively fighting getting vaccinated, or demanding restrictions removed while spread is still high, just don’t care about the community.

I care very much about my community. We both want the same thing. And what number is considered high community spread? 240k infections a day or 43k infections a day? It’s relative. Seems to me that more people were wearing masks and following guidelines over the winter, at least that’s what I’ve noticed where I am. Yet cases are still declining. So what’s the number? Nobody has said. Maybe public health officials should try and set clear goals.

so what’s the incentive? When lifting all mask mandates would raise the vaccination substantially according to polls. Having to wear a mask after vaccination is the #1 reason people don’t want to get it.

Wait until a couple months (September or October) to remove masks and social distancing, my state NJ may remove masks by August/September. Is that really gonna happen for vaccine resistant if variants gets worse or not?

As soon as the Biden administration says it's safe to no longer wear masks indoors, most businesses will quickly end their mask requirements.

A company trying to enforce a mask mandate once the Federal government says it's safe is only going to result in a lot of unhappy customers and employees.

People will continue to wear masks, if they wish, but masks are not popular among most Americans.

Once the CDC says it’s safe to not wear masks indoors (which is the agency that would say it at the Federal level), then people should only wear masks if they want to. Like others, I’m hoping if people are feeling poorly or it’s flu season, there will be more masking than pre-pandemic, but as long as their isn’t a public health emergency, it should be personal choice.

Take that up with the people who have been flaunting the mandates from the start. They're a big part of the problem.

We need more businesses to get on board to offer a wide variety of incentives.

The longer we let the spread of the known variants stick around, the greater the opportunity to have more and mutate, eventually creating a much more difficult one to fight.
If we don't nip the variants, as in contain them to not spread with the help of more vaccinations, this could be possibly much more deadly. It is both.
We have gotten this far with some good results, but do we want to finish the job, or not?

By July-September/October, as cases will go way down into the flatline... there should be low enough to be not uptick in fall/winter, so masks won't need anymore that's I heard the news

We HAVE to worry about whether people are being vaccinated or not. If not enough people get vaccinated and virus mutates and renders the vaccines ineffective, we're all back at square one, thanks to a minority of people who wouldn't do what needed to be done.

Why is what you said in this post the hardest thing I believe for people to comprehend?

We don't know. We're trying to get everyone to get vaccinated still.

My personal opinion is a lot will change at Disney parks in June. They have a desire to keep protocols similar or the same between DLR and WDW. DLR just opened but the Governor of CA has already stated they will be removing their remaining statewide Covid mitigations by mid-June assuming cases and vaccinations hold up. CA is at 51.1% of their total population with 1 shot so likely about 2/3 of adults with the vaccine and the are holding steady under 5 cases per 100,000 people. Looking good there. I think Disney will shift to 3 feet of distancing and by some time in June I think the whole country will likely be done with masks outdoors so they will drop outdoor masks too at both parks. Outside of that the only major thing left is indoor masks. Those will be around until we get enough people vaccinated to drop national cases below some metric like 10,000 cases a day.
