News Tron coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom

Maybe it should be the other way around.

I want to visit in the fall. I don’t want Florida closed due to another cluster fash. Or has the 3rd wave news not reached over there yet?
Most people will have been vaccinated by the time summer is over. In any case, the theme parks have been safe and will be even more safe as more people are vaccinated and naturally recover from the virus. If you don’t feel safe, you don’t have to go. But I will gladly wait in line for the Velocicoaster.

I don't think it takes more than this picture from bio to illustrate the difference between TWDC of old and all the alphabet management that goes with it and what is calling the shots today.

I give you TDO - then and now

It is literally a "what does not fit picture"

Somewhat baffling to me that they didn't extend the shroud around to what's visible in the park.

lol we still dont knwo what kind of landscaping there will be around this box, calm down. They could build a small berm and plant some trees and hide it from most park angles and they probably will.

You know the answer, they would have to pay for new plans. This was paid for by the SDL project and TDO only has site and construction costs
No. This has been explained many times in this thread. Entirely new drawings still had to be done for this project. The direction was largely set but reusing the design intent from Shanghai still left a lot of architecture and engineering work to be done.

Sir you cannot dull my contempt for TDO. I get it though, different site, different regulations and regulators

Which actually makes it worse, not better. Considering they had to do additional work anyways, why not go ahead and fix the problems inherent to dropping the Shanghai design into Orlando?

The answer, of course, is that it was still much cheaper to leave things mostly as-is from Shanghai rather than designing anything new.

Not to say new designs weren’t done. It was to have a much grander entrance remember
I'm pretty sure I'm misunderstanding this but are you saying that the Magic Kingdom Tron once had a grander entrance?

And by remember, do you mean that it was a public plan?

This was the first concept art we got

and this was the second.

The only differences I spot are the removal of the escalator for a ramp, mirroring Shanghai's setup, an enclosed railroad circuit, and the big elevated tron sign was swapped for a small Tron sign in a planter.

Am I missing something, or am I talking about something completely differnet?

If they weren't so afraid of spending money Disney should have taken the opportunity to plus Tron and make it somewhat unique in comparison to the original in Shanghai. I would like to go to DLR and the international parks one day and a reason why is because while they have the same attractions in name and theme, there is often differences that make each one have its own personality for the lack of a better word (like DLRP's Big Thunder and Space Mountain or DLR's Pirates). Even if it was something as simple as the layout being slightly extended to go over more of the speedway or one more launch added into the ride it would have gone a long way to satisfy guests and adding another block section would've increased capacity.

Yes. Entrance next to speedway queue and wide elevated walkway over the top of the speedway.
As cool as that would’ve been, it would’ve blocked off any potential redevelopment of that area. Not that they are planning to anyways (for whatever reason) but it’s nice to know that it isn’t completely off the table due to physical constraints imposed by an elevated walkway.

Purely armchair, but I don't think it would be that far off to see the Baymax spinner from Tokyo go in the space alongside something else with a retheme of Cosmic Rays to a Battle Bot Cafe.

This is probably going to be a unpopular opinion. I think that Big Hero 6 would work well in EPCOT. Tomorrowland works as well, wouldn’t want a spinner though.
