I really wish Publix, CVS, etc. would allow wait lists; if there are open appointments and those doses only last so long, I would be happy to take it. That's how my mom got hers, but at the VA hospital

Yep. i called Publix by my house, said they don't want to do that because it's too "complicated". Well, I imagine wasting thousands of dollars on missed appointments, unbooked slots, and wasted dosages is more important to the bottom line

It may differ from store-to-store, but a Publix waiting list does exist. My son works for Publix, and came home earlier this week saying that they had all been given the opportunity to get on the waiting list for shots. Then, last night he came home proudly sharing that he was actually chosen to receive the leftover shot!

I’m guessing they are starting with their own staff for the waiting list, since they provide an immediate pool of potential patients (vs having to call/text someone).

YMMV, my local Publix was calling patients of the Pharmacy to round up people for those "leftover" shots that others had missed their appointments. They've got 6 hours once its thawed and prepared to use it. (Moderna)

After all the ing and moaning done by Disney execs (rightly done IMHO) they better open as soon as they are allowed. Gotta get the place open before the governor changes his mind

I do not care what CNN thinks! It is supposed to be a news network, as in, report the news and facts not create their own news and make up supposed facts. Not the network Ted Turner created and had outstanding reporters / journalists working in it.

Cable news is more entertainment than news. Fox started that trend and for a while was way ahead in the ratings by increasing the mix of opinions over news. CNN followed that playbook (can’t beat em join em). There was a time when CNN was an actual news network (Fox never pretended to be from the start) but those days are long gone. You can still get news from either network but you have to know when to watch and also know how to interpret their stories. Often times the actual stories barely resemble the headlines.

We've watched MSNBC since the Dan Abram days . We pretty much stopped after Tim Russert passed away. I really have no news channel I watch anymore.

Yes. Back to the old school process of reading. watching or listening to stories from multiple sources and gleaning the facts from the spin / individual interpretation. One would imagine it should be simple, just tell the truth and give the facts. Too bad personal agenda's get in the way, but, after all everybody has one.

The Pineapple Promenade kiosk at Epcot's Flower and Garden Festival has a Dole Whip topped with Parrot Bay Coconut Rum that's out of this world. We're going 8 weeks from today (not that I'm counting or anything) - I think I'll have two to make up for last May.

Let’s hope not. It’s a risk and I’m not in favor of removing mask mandates today. I think we will be able to hopefully relax more things in a month or 2. Remember that the state mask mandates only set a strong message for people. Each individual business has the right to require masks and people can still keep wearing them even if not mandated. I have a number of friends and co-workers in TX who all said they didn’t think the change would impact their behavior at all. They still plan to wear masks and distance in public. A few of the more cautious people said they are more likely to avoid public places and get more takeout now due to the change.

The bottom line is the vaccines are highly effective, but the lower the case numbers are held now the quicker the vaccines can flatline the virus for good. If we all hold on with Covid restrictions for a few more months until vaccine rates are up into the 50-70% of the population that would likely allow a faster return to normal this Summer.

Based on the CDC study showing that the mandates led to less than a 2% increase in daily cases after 100 days and combined with increased vaccinations, likely not. Or, if there is it probably won't be related to that.

Before somebody jumps on my post, neither me nor the CDC study is talking about the effectiveness of masks/face coverings, both are referring specifically to mandates.

Mask mandates are all about setting a tone from the top. They were never heavily enforced anywhere. It’s not a great idea to set the tone that masks aren’t needed anymore. Too soon. The end is near but we can’t showboat now and fumble at the 5 yard line.
