Just reported on local new that Dr. Ron said Florida is getting 266K doses a week.
My understanding is, it's hospital's that are having the issues. So, not candy in isle 11. I would bet the candy people will be very good at it when using their facilities. After all, they'll get the chance to sell you something else while you're there. Isn't that a big part of the business model, get people into the store for something and then sell them something else cheap with a huge mark up.So you’re saying public health workers are busy administering doses as a matter of public health?
Not selling candy in isle 11 or scheduling it around diabetes maintenance appointments with more of a profit motive?
Hmmm...I better check my Econ notes on that.
In a clinical trial, yes. All that matters to us is whether it works or not. 128,000 were vaccinated and so far 20 are infected and most importantly none seriously. Like I said, early on, but good sign.Good news. I'm sure you know this, but that's not how they would calculate efficacy, unless all 128k of those people were exposed to Covid. You would have to compare how that 20 looks vs. 128,000 unvaccinated people.
They are shifting from hospitals around here. As you posted they are not set up for this kind of production line.My understanding is, it's hospital's that are having the issues. It's that hospital processes aren't designed for rapid quick shots and leave, and they're super risk adverse. The combination creates lots of overhead and friction at getting it done. This doesn't explain why they're giving out left over doses to board member or families instead of patients. There was one non profit we saw where they took all left over doses to the dialysis clinic in the building. They already know exactly where those people will be for the second shot and they all clearly have a risk. So, it's not all hospitals, but definitely some and some of the larger systems.
My wife and many of her friends spread around the county got vaccinated as members of various groups. Several of the ones in hospitals had someone sit with them specifically for the 15 to 30 minutes after to be sure there was no reaction. She used the county site and they had 50 people in a gym, spread out, with one monitor at the front of the room watching them all.
All need to follow. It amazes me that there are still holdouts in other cruise forums thinking this won’t be the standard, at least for a while. Especially after the relative praise Saga received. All will follow.
He needs to practice the phrase “I am hereby suspending my campaign” in the mirror. Gonna need it.
I have no idea what we are going to do. This vacation has exhausted me. Booked back in 2019 for April 2020, we have had to move and postpone and almost cancel so many times. That includes dining and tickets. We will be traveling from Toronto.
We're now set for late March 2021 and still, things are not looking good. This was the latest we were allowed to move it as we rented 2 weeks worth of DVC Polynesian points. If we don't travel then, we will lose EVERYTHING. The only other option we have been given is we may be allowed to transfer those points to RCI?! Which I suppose is better than nothing. Maybe we can rebook in the future for Disney through them?! Then that would just leave me hoping Disney would refund my 8-day tickets? Under the circumstances. Even the magic bands we pre-purchased. Three adults are travelling.
With all that said, while strict restrictions are looking to be in place, if we can get a flight and don't have to quarantine once we arrive in Orlando, we would still probably go. Although we will travel with concerns and some may think we're crazy, I do feel safer travelling to WDW than some other places. Making sure we're well equipped with masks, sanitizers, lysol and keeping as socially distanced as possible. We are fine to o the 14-day quarantine when we return.
We will have to give ourselves a few more weeks to see what the travel restriction details are before we decide if RCI is possible or the best option.
Very true. But at the same time I'll be honest, with the restrictions here, just staying at the resort being able to walk the grounds would be amazing compared to the locked up life we're currently living in Toronto. With the exception of groceries, I've more or less been in "stay home" mode since mid-March 2020. It helps peace of mind knowing that the Polynesian is currently closed with the exception of DVC for not being to busy for distancing.I don’t want to be discouraging...but I don’t think they’ll be ready by April for out of country. You also have to ask yourself: what are you getting? Still a lot of reductions in place
If that's true then uncle Joe's logistics team isn't off to a great start and it's going to take 4 months to get through the rest of the 65+ population with two doses. At that rate, doses, not shots, will be the limiting factor in two weeks or less.Just reported on local new that Dr. Ron said Florida is getting 266K doses a week.
Got to have it to get it. Or, are they holding back doses for FEMA to distribute so it can look like the federal government came to the rescue?

My current mind set is once again we won't be going. However, we'll wait a few more weeks before we make our decision once we find out all of our options.

That’s probably because there was no plan for administering vaccinations from the previous administration. President Biden has to start with a new plan... from scratchIf that's true then uncle Joe's logistics team isn't off to a great start and it's going to take 4 months to get through the rest of the 65+ population with two doses. So, extrapolating that out, we’ll be done with seniors and ready to move onto the next phase in...May?
No, it doesn't extrapolate like that. There are around 3.5 million seniors left to go. As of the latest report, 451,000 first doses were given 1/10-1/16. They have been ramping up capacity to give shots so this capacity is higher now. There should easily be the ability to give 500,000 first doses a week now and likely more but using 500,000 would mean 7 weeks. That calculates to being able to give first doses to the entire the 65+ population by 3/14 and allow the next phase to begin 6 weeks earlier than your extrapolation.
I stick by my earlier assertion that it will take many months to get thru the seniors here in FL. According to the daily vaccination report, we are trending DOWN in # of doses given weekly, with this week coming in about 100Kish less than last week's total of 436K total shots.Just reported on local new that Dr. Ron said Florida is getting 266K doses a week.
