When masks come off is rather simple: After a month when vaccines are available such that anyone can walk into a pharmacy and get one.

For those who say we have to keep protocols going for those who are still unvaccinated after that... no.

Almost all of those who aren't vaccinated are anti-vaxxers and they'll never get vaccinated. We shouldn't keep protocols going forever because anti-vaxxers won't get vaccinated forever.

Those anti-vaxxers who don't get vaccinated will wind up getting COVID. A portion of them will be sick and a smaller portion will have long term health issues and/or die, but, in the end, they'll catch it and wind up immune. Their own fault.

I'm not a moron. I never thought that I could stop wearing a mask when I was vaccinated. I dont know how many ways I can say that obviously we have to wait until cases drop, spread slows. All I said was that if all I needed was the vaccine and I could stop wearing the mask, I would be comfortable doing so as I trust the vaccine. Not that it would actually happen like that in reality.

I wasn’t referring to your posts at all. Someone a few pages back said as soon as they got the vaccine their mask was coming off. Others have said the same in the past. Others have suggested masks will definitely be gone May 1 because of Biden’s wear a mask for 100 days campaign.

I might tack a month or two onto your timeline, simply because we do owe it to those who can’t medically receive the vaccine. We maybe should get a buffer going for them and give it a bit of time to push cases down further.

Save for maybe a few saying otherwise, those saying they’ll feel more comfortable in public after the vaccine and are looking forward to that day are all saying the same thing. We’re not ready to flaunt the rules, but know where things are (hopefully) headed.

On the assumption that a month after anyone can get a vaccine second dose, that community spread falls through the floor, sure. But it’s not because the vaccine is available. It’ll be because community spread is under control.


Let’s all hope that other testing support, contact tracing, surveillance testing all pick up too. Because we're not very close to 12-18 year olds approved for vaccination. And we’re a world away from under 12. If we have to wait until under 12 are part of “anyone”, it’s going to be a long time. I think we can do better than that.
