That’s probably because there was no plan for administering vaccinations from the previous administration. President Biden has to start with a new plan... from scratch

Right...but what about the transition for 80 days? The one fully staffed, planned covid response team in place who worked with the incoming so it was seamless?

...right. I swear it’s like amateur hour that’s lasted years round these parts sometimes. Not all the time...but in key areas.

You should have to be required to score a certain iq to use a remote control or activate an internet browser...like a breathalyzer or something??

Biden has raised the goal to 1.5 million doses a day for the first 100 days.

Here’s the reactions:

1. Expected...they were gonna do that all along
2. They lied to me and hurt my feelings 😢

1.1M doses today nationwide. 7 day rolling average is now 1.3M doses a day.

Except Florida, at least, was receiving more doses per week under "no plan" than now.

I stick by my earlier assertion that it will take many months to get thru the seniors here in FL. According to the daily vaccination report, we are trending DOWN in # of doses given weekly, with this week coming in about 100Kish less than last week's total of 436K total shots.

Also, as @JoeCamel shared, we will only be getting 266K doses this week, which limits how many people we can actually vaccinate. It seems as if Desantis no longer has a hotline to the White House so that he can easily get what he wants. Further, the WH pushed back on him today, stating “And I will note — because we’re data first here, fact first here — they’ve only distributed about 50 percent of the vaccines that they have been given in Florida. So, clearly, they have a good deal of the vaccine. ” said Biden Press Secretary Jen Psaki on Monday.

So, while the federal and local govt point fingers at one another, we're caught in the middle.

You can't compare week over week like that and draw that conclusion because there is a lot of backfilled data. For example, if you look at the report posted by @DCBaker yesterday the total doses administered was 1,534,816 and today's report shows 1,565,383 but it only shows 5,000 administered yesterday. So 30,567 new doses administered were logged but 25,567 were in days prior to yesterday. The number from this past week will go up as this week progresses.

Also, with respect to the 266,000 doses this week, the article quotes him as saying "initial doses" which changes the equation significantly. That would be over 1 million series starts per month worth on top of the 650k or so complete series that the CDC says the State already has but hasn't used yet. That means based on supply that around 2.5 million seniors total can get at least the first dose before the last week of February.

I have no idea what we are going to do. This vacation has exhausted me. Booked back in 2019 for April 2020, we have had to move and postpone and almost cancel so many times. That includes dining and tickets. We will be traveling from Toronto.

We're now set for late March 2021 and still, things are not looking good. This was the latest we were allowed to move it as we rented 2 weeks worth of DVC Polynesian points. So much was spent to finally have that Polynesian 'dream vacation'. If we don't travel then, we will lose EVERYTHING. The only other option we have been given is we may be allowed to transfer those points to RCI?! Which I suppose is better than nothing. Maybe we can rebook in the future for Disney through them?! Then that would just leave me hoping Disney would refund my 8-day tickets? Under the circumstances. Even the magic bands we pre-purchased. Three adults are travelling.

With all that said, while strict restrictions are looking to be in place, if we can get a flight and don't have to quarantine once we arrive in Orlando, we would still probably go. I lost my job of 10 years during all this craziness so at first it was nice to have this trip planned in the back of my mind. Although we will travel with concerns and some may think we're crazy, I do feel safer travelling to WDW than some other places. Making sure we're well equipped with masks, sanitizers, lysol and keeping as socially distanced as possible. We are fine to o the 14-day quarantine when we return.

We will have to give ourselves a few more weeks to see what the travel restriction details are before we decide if RCI is possible or the best option.

As a fellow Canadian I would concur with our federal government that all nin essential travel should be cancelled

The amount a state can order from the manufacturers is set by a chart that lists the max doses each state can order week by week. The amount a state can order is determined by its relative population.

If there is less now than before, it's because of production. The manufacturers originally had a stockpile in anticipation of getting approval. Once they go through that stockpile, they have to dial back to what's being produced week by week.

There has been no formulated plan under the Biden administration that has changed what was happening previously, as per their assertion that they have to come up with a plan, which means that right now, there is still the inherited 'no plan.'

Remember that initially most states weren't able to keep up with doses given because of their unpreparedness. Now that they've ramped up dose distribution and can handle more doses... the stockpile is gone, despite the Trump administration's director of HHS saying there was still a stockpile to let loose just a week ago.

If the Trump administration was keeping on top of things, they would have instead told the states that they've gone through the stockpile, and so be prepared for less shipments per week. But states instead ramped up distribution and reservations for doses.

May I remind you how unlikely the new administration, which is only six days old, can be held accountable for the doses that arrived last week and this upcoming week.

You are ruining his "Florida good, everyone else bad" narrative. ;)

Pity...I was brewing my green beer. A remarkable show of faith for someone who is overwhelmingly Scottish 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

It’s not “half”....it’s majority of landmass...but sheep don’t vote.

It was a sizeable minority of voters...and as far as population represented its 40,000,000 + people fewer. And if the apathetic voted...they’d vote That way as well.

Study and analysis are our friends.

This 50/50 narrative is false...it’s locked into 1700/1800’s era loopholes.

It’s like saying ups/fedex or Coke/Pepsi are close...

It’s not even close...we just don’t question it and are allowed to be “steered” by it.

Factually wrong....7 million less...sorry i dont want two citys controlling the entire nation...because that makes sense... im irish but i mock them all the time...irish is just another word for communist? Am i right..ok im half kidding.

Its an every vote should be equal vs should 100 people in a large sky scrapper tell the whole village what to do? Obviously a horrific example but point stands. Here in Florida i do not want orlando for example to dictate my life...the citizens of orlando and by extension there politicians dont know ehats best for where i live...they are not connected to my life in any tangible way (this isnt even touching on the dog in the fight analogy) its always easier to spend somebody elses money...

Its always easier to try to dictate somebody elses life.

Two cities don’t control the country....

About 50 do...and it’s been pretty much that way since around 1900.

We can (and have) agree on a variety of topics and will in the future. But it won’t be here. There is no “even split” nor will be...power to the people...not the puppet masters.

So we can move on.

But I have to ask...which “two” cities?

I have Milwaukee and Salt Lake City in the pool 🤔

Not only no plan as you say.. but what Dr.Birx said yesterday I’m surprised we have gotten this far.

I’d be very wary quite honestly. Not because of the usual reasons, but I’m sure you are privy to the chatter that they are really trying to crack down on vacationers.

Possibly having to pay out of pocket for a quarantine hotel on return or having all flights cancelled.

I’m 100 percent sympathetic to the money on the line though, but I really wouldn’t be surprised to see the policy hammer come down to prevent the usual March Break Ontario exodus. See if there is any other way to recoup some of the money or if you had any insurance on it?

I do think though that "vaccine tourism" will become more common if there continues to be a significant disparity of supply in the USA vs Canada.

Indeed. But also because it’s disorganized enough that you can do so.

I’m frustrated by our supply, but also frustrated because the US is setting the weird expectation that anyone can get a vaccine by being In the right grocery store at the right time. I keep having to remind myself to relax and wait until I’m called.

The people that the puppet masters can just buy? Sure....NYC and greater LA area of course. The equal vote dosen't equal the equal representation you seek....the best thing for everybody on any side of any isle...less its the ketchup isle is for less governance in fact im socially liberal on some things...buuuut it boils down to this basic philosophy.

"Stop trying to tell people what to do in there personal lives" educate sure...demand....legislate that they do this or that? No.

It doesn't matter if there are social benefits...none of it is worth removing peoples individual freedoms to do as they please.

Based on your work environment, I would be surprised if you didn't receive your first shot by the end of March.

I'd rather not wait until the Fall or later, especially with these variants spreading.
