I actually agree with what you said here even though we've been on the opposite end of many issues. Fear of "going backward" is absolutely a major detriment right now, and by not wanting to roll back the reopening of many states and counties, we have actually gone backward .
Yes it does happen a lot. We're all guilty of it, but some people are just not capable of admitting the interpreted something incorrectly.
I don’t disagree that WDW was/is never going to fully close again unless mandated by the state of FL which won’t happen.
I’m wrong plenty of times. Ive also had people misinterpret what I have said on numerous occasions. Especially in a fast moving thread sometimes context of the statement is lost. I usually just try to recap the discussion to explain where my point is coming from, but ironically I’ve found a few people who take offense to that too. I just find it easier to catch people up that way, but you can‘t please all the people all the time.
Whenever I see anyone here admit that they were wrong/misunderstood, or rude or apologize for anything, I try to hit the “like” reaction button because I think these things help make the discussion healthier.
More of people on the internet don't listen to strangers. Talking about the trial online, I've only had one person change their attack demeanor towards me to truly interested to get real info. Most people are not willing to admit they were wrong or apologize. In turn I see those who do either often get ignored and the crazy continues. Internet discussions can be fun, but I also have made legit friends too so sometimes people can be pretty awesome
I have on Covid itself. In the beginning I was the first person to try to post facts, statistics, articles...that supported statements. At this point if someone still doesn’t believe Covid is a big deal, still compares it to the flu or car accidents or whatever, still attempts to discredit the published stats on cases or death, they aren’t going to be educated and change their mind. People are dug in. I don’t think there are many people left without an opinion or who don’t already realize most of the information out there. I’m OK with others who still want to fight that battle.
When you present your opinion and position on things and someone disagrees with you there‘s a good chance you won‘t change their minds but who knows how many other people read that exchange and gained valuable information. Especially on things like the vaccine. Someone may be disagreeing with you and may never get the vaccine themselves but you may have made several other people more comfortable about getting it and maybe moved them from the not sure camp to the going to get it camp. The point of discussions isn’t to make people change their mind, but it’s a good ancillary benefit sometimes.
Your are one of the few people on here that only attacks the message and not the messenger. That is commendable and what we should all strive for.
