Just noticed that the pictures showing the coaster reentry portal being closed up also show sheathing blocking the main guest entrance.
No it really doesn’t make sense. 2021 theoretically should start to pick up and they should be able to open more as the virus gets under control with vaccine roll outs. Shutting down construction for most of 2021 does not make sense especially when you have a highly anticipated anniversary in October. Halt new projects no doubt but stopping ones they are in the middle of like this just seems incredibly dumb.
Is there an aerial photo that shows the route of the replacement train track? Does it finish the connection with the existing track at the Main Street station?
It’s not like Disney doesn’t have the money.
They updated Snow White...Well they *could have* been spending all this downtime at DL doing maintenance on everything under the sun. "They have the money", right?
Don't hold your breath on that though.
They will put the panels in and do minimal landscaping to clean it up and hide and secure what they can. Who knows, 6 months - a year they start again.Does this “finishing the canopy now” everyones talking about mean the whole canopy (as in all panels and stuff, making it completely covered). Or just the framing work we can see already up now?
Even with Splash Mountains install, they still ran a portion of the line frontwards and backwards, which I understand won't be done again.I hope they get to a point so that the MKRR can be restarted. Ridiculous that it's been down for two years now!
To be fair, the park was much less crowded back then. Even if they wanted to do it, it would probably turn into a discovery river boat situation since there would only be 1 train set.Even with Splash Mountains install, they still ran a portion of the line frontwards and backwards, which I understand won't be done again.
Modern day safety reasons and ops won't allow it.Even with Splash Mountains install, they still ran a portion of the line frontwards and backwards, which I understand won't be done again.
There are no safety reasons or ops reasons that prevent the WDW RR from operating in reverse with guests. It was done on a daily basis with guests on the behind the scenes tour.Modern day safety reasons and ops won't allow it.
There’s a safety consideration that prevents the train running backwards on the route section unaffected by TRON.There are no safety reasons or ops reasons that prevent the WDW RR from operating in reverse with guests. It was done on a daily basis with guests on the behind the scenes tour.
What is it?There’s a safety consideration that prevents the train running backwards on the route section unaffected by TRON.
I’m not at liberty to say. But think about the route and what they didn’t have to deal with in 1991.What is it?

Not anticlockwise between Storybook and MSUSA. Nothing is insurmountable but the desire to make it workable isn’t there. But the trains can operate safely in reverse with passengers.

I agree that It’s a real shame the train has been down for over 2 years now and it’s looking like it could be 3 or even close to 4 years until it’s operating again.![]()
Guests waiting a very long time for a short shuttle ride.A situation where people think that a transportation method is a highly themed Jungle Cruise-style experience?
Trains shove through grade crossings all the time. Including at WDW, with guests.I imagine it's the roadway that goes past at the track level. It's got a lot of warning lights one wouldn't see while going backwards and it's on the stretch that isn't involved in either of the routes the train has gone backwards on.
