Ok, maybe...I never tried counting. I could think of at least 2 that take it way too far. What can the moderators do though, there’s extremes on both sides so should they just ban anyone taking an extreme position? I have no problem with people disagreeing with me and with disagreeing with others. I don’t think I do it in a disrespectful way, but I have found one person here who just can’t handle when anyone disagrees with them so I just stopped replying to their posts. I don’t use the ignore feature, but I just realized there is no talking to them so I just avoid replying. It makes for less unnecessary conflict.

Isn’t that really just one person? Maybe two?

I was one of them (though I’ve only said it in this thread):

I used to think, “Hey, people are free to do whatever they want, let them go to Disney World during a pandemic! I don’t think it’s wise, but I’ll just stay home.” But now I’m not so neutral. Seeing all those people willingly intermingling while the virus spreads out of control leaves me to conclude that all those people are selfish, foolish, and ignorant.

I don’t think that’s what she meant. More like people going to threads not about Covid at all and telling people they shouldn’t be going to WDW. It’s fair game here. Not every thread needs to be about Covid. There are 2 or 3 that tend to focus on it.

I think freedom and personal choice should be the default and in most situations is the best scenario. But there are certain problems that can best be solved by cooperating and conforming. A pandemic is one of those situations.

It's accurate that shaming is generally not an effective means to elicit a positive behavior. There's evidence, for instance, that shaming someone for being overweight doesn't help and could even lead to the person developing a disorder. But if someone puts on weight, that only directly affects them. Now we have a situation where if people avoid vaccines, it affects others very directly. I have to admit that the idea of going to a hospital where staff don't get vaccinated is pretty unpleasant, and I have zero control over it.

So we need good messaging and good policies to create good public behavior. Sadly, we don't seem to have any experts working on that at all. I think that issue has been vastly undervalued in the struggle to distribute vaccines. But it is obviously not a priority for the administration.

Yes possibly. A lot of my co-workers have already had Covid. I do need to get another antibody test.

Sounds like a no-one brainer to me to get the vaccine if a lot of your peers in your hospital have gotten covid . That is truly disturbing if some still are on the fence whether to not get vaccinated or not.

People are looking at the data. The problem tends to be with older teachers not feeling safe and parents who question the data wondering if they are getting the correct data or are schools just pushing to be open. I get all sides of it. Here’s another article from Massachusetts saying about the same thing as the article you posted. There are still clusters popping up but they feel it wasn’t from transmission in schools but outside of schools. Who knows who to believe anymore with this stuff.. seems someone always has a agenda. We need the vaccine more then ever.

Please remember that posters have different life experiences that can have an effect on their POV. The fact that you disagree with someone does not make them a terrible person. Please try to remain civil.

If your purpose is to be "right" even though you are lobbing personal insults, then please just stop. You may be right, but that's not how you can convince someone else to recognize it.

I know that these are stressful times, and some have had more tragedy than others. Many posters have lost loved ones to Covid, while others have to think hard about naming someone who has even had it. We all have different realities. But I personally would do what I can reasonably do to reduce the chance of someone else's nightmare becoming my own.

The problem is that we all don't agree on what is reasonable - there are disagreements even among family members who tend to hold similar POVs, and have made what they consider reasonable decisions - even some based on more medical knowledge about pandemics than the average person.

It is fine to point out science and recommendations when making your point. It is fine to explain your POV - but it is not fine to respond in anger when someone presents an opposing one - no matter how righteous you feel.

And it is never fine to mock or belittle a post.

AFAIK, that is the case in Florida. Which makes sense. Those who caught it early on will have natural immunity, which might wear off or become less effective as the virus mutates. So they will need a "booster" later than those who need protection against the "unmutated" strain ASAP. There booster will more likely than not be somewhat different than what is being given now.

And yes, I know it isn't really a booster, but I'm stating it in a way that most people will understand.

I would think destruction of property is enough. That person destroyed 500 doses. How much does a dose of vaccine cost? At least $20 a pop. So, that's $10,000 that person will have to give in restitution, at least. And that's not counting fines and incarceration for violating criminal codes and punitive damages.

Either that or it's an anti-vaxxer. I don't understand why an anti-vaxxer would get into the medical field, but I actually know at least 1 (an in-law of an in-law's in-law, if that makes sense) who is trying to become a nurse and thinks vaccines are deadly and cause autism. I'm not sure how you reconcile that belief with the requirement to administer medication when you think doctors and pharmaceutical companies are all part of a conspiracy to distribute and administer dangerous drugs.

It doesn’t just affect them. It’s a bigger strain on our hospital systems than people that don’t get vaccinated. I rarely see someone die of Covid that isn’t morbidly obese. People are so in denial when in comes to their own health . When 1/3 or more of the population is obese that’s a huge problem.

I have heard the same from several people at different hospitals. They have told me that when it comes to younger people that have serious illness or end up dying from COVID, they are almost always morbidly obese. There are a small number who aren't but morbid obesity is, BY FAR, the comorbidity that the highest percentage have.

Not a change for our school district. We follow Franklin County board of health recommendations. They always said 6 feet with masks didn't require quarantine. However if closer for more than 15 minutes masks or not, we do. Same policy my brother's govt job in another state follows.

It is possible in times of stress and depression some find solace in food and drink and other things. I know some who deal with it with a lot of take out.

My waistline can attest to this. I gotta lose this takeout weight stat!
