The COVID deniers left the building a long time ago, so now the only ones left to shame or bully are the people who post anything less than 100% negative.

They went slightly underground or to a rally...they’re around.

One of the things that elevates man above beast is admitting when you are wrong. It’s a key instinct that is being repressed on purpose. Mistakes without recognition leads to bigger mistakes.

But see that’s the problem...

The “opinions” on covid have not mattered since day 1...the qualified people figured it out, said what to do, and people have claimed their OPINIONS more meritorious.

You can lecture me on my opinions of parks, parades, pretty much anything. But for 10 months nobody’s opinion (without a medical degree or large experience in public policy/logistics) frankly matters at all. If we collectively fail this...what good is Anything?

I don’t think anyone is forgetting that, but people will disagree on what can reasonably be expected. There are a lot of people (including WDW and all it’s hundreds of thousands of guests) who don’t agree with you on whether amusement parks should be open. There are a lot of people who believe that traveling or gathering - while complying with all restrictions - should be allowed. People will disagree, which is why we have government entities making the rules.

I can understand that people feel strongly about their respective positions, but the lack of tolerance for the opinions of others is dismaying. Clearly, if people didn’t interact at all there would be no COVID. But that’s not possible, and there are legitimate questions about how little interaction is possible or even good.

And now you and other posters are trying to say I am against wearing a mask, and getting rid of precautions, etc, because I am not.

Just because I have a high survival rate, doesn’t mean everyone else does, which is why I wear a mask and keep my distance when I am in public and apply the protocols and principles in my own life. I never used it once EVER in this thread to justify eliminating precautions. Everyone has a different situation. I have repeatedly stated in this thread how hard it has been to avoid my father and mother, grandparents, and other family. But I do it anyway. I have also repeatedly stated that I have no problem with government restrictions as I believe in doing them even though Florida has “reopened” and put their fingers in their ears and head in the sand. I am about balance. We can live our lives and enjoy certain things (depending on your circumstances) while still showing a respect to others who aren’t so fortunate to be in a lower risk category.

I do think the issue is that some of the stuff you posted is in line with deniers. Not saying you are, but it's the same stuff many do say. If you do not use information carefully it can be used as an excuse not to wear masks, not to distance not to behave etc. Even if you do support mask wearing it kinda came across as contrary. Like arguing just to argue. Much like, to be honest, your quip to me honing in on how a specific word was used. A different angle and method of delivery might make people not want to argue back. Just an outside view.

There’s no formal definition of Covid denial so I chose to define it as either denying the existence or severity of Covid.

It's not denying the severity to note the likelihood of certain outcomes. Taking that information and saying, "therefore everyone just do what they want" might fit your definition, but that's not what the poster was doing.

Its not possible to not interact with others but you can severely limit it. If people followed what the CDC says things would be much better

I'm sorry to hear about your aunt, helenabear. Is this the aunt who'd travel with y'all to the parks?

Yes it is. We were so lucky to get as many trips with her as we did. She had been in a LTC facility for almost 4 years and even survived a covid outbreak in the spring. We last took her 5 years ago and gave her a trip of a lifetime (spoiled her with a few days in a bungalow). But her cerebral palsy combined with ALS was too much. Sadly due to us having colds in the late winter, I hadn't seen her in person for about a year... kind of why I considered unblinding myself so she could have another come in to care for her.

But now...with a vaccine that appears to be effective?

My friend who died was 27 and in good health. Yet it took only 2 weeks for COVID to kill him. (Also currently the survival rate for closed cases is 97% It's 99% if you include the people still sick.)

My friend's healthy daughter in her early 30s died from the flu in March 2019 (before COVID). Rare and tragic outcomes are not exclusive to COVID.

No, but when comparing the flu to COVID-19, 330,000+ deaths in 10 months IS exclusive to COVID-19 in either of our lifetimes.
