Have ridden down the snoozefest n'avi river?

...well snoozefest until you reach the incredible ANIMATRONIC n'avi shaman.
Yes, they made a mistake there. But let's hope they've learned from that. Just imagine a frog with the movements of the shaman! Or a dancing frog in the re-theme of Splash Mountain:

They had a huge budget then and basically none now.
Just admit this is going to be one big unless they wait 5-10 years (or the smarter choice... never).

also, that youtube vid is the stuff nightmare's are made of.

Even if you wanted to axe any and all trace of Song of the South, there are far better ways to do it than Princess and the Frog.

Case in point...
340

"Country Bear Splash"

90% of the ride stays the exact same, including the music, but now with Henry leading 'Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah' in the finale.

I suppose it's possible that the attraction re-theme could be as bad as CBJ or the Tiki Room. But they're not going to change the log flume so the ride itself is safe. And, after, all who in their right mind would sit through a static show of the Splash Mountain animatronic sets in a theater? That, in and of itself would be worse than CBJ and Tiki Room combined!

So, as long as we've got the ride, any theme they throw in will be tolerable. It's that 55 foot drop that draws the crowds!

An attraction is much more than just the mechanics/track.

See: Space Mountain with the lights on.

I said this in another thread, and I’ll say it again. The Million Dollar Bunny mechanism is the first thing to go, and it’s probably a big motivator for this refurb. They want this to be cheaper to maintain, not equally or more expensive.

Also, the malfunction wasn’t erratically hopping. It just didn’t work.
If they replace the Million Dollar Bunny with a projection of Brer Rabbit hopping but keep the rest of the ride as is... honestly, I'd gladly take that over the retheme.

I 😻 Space Mountain with the lights on! Often theme gets in the way of a great ride. The current Splash Mountain theme is a great example. They obviously didn't put enough thought into that idea.

Not enough thought into what idea?
Splash is work of art.
You see, Br'er Rabbit is not a swamp rabbit. Therefore it's not natural for Br'er Rabbit to be swimming in a swamp. Yet our log on Splash Mountain plummets down a 55 foot drop into a water filled briar patch! Frogs on the other hand love and thrive in swamps.

And after all, these stories are based upon an African hare, not an American rabbit. But in any case the same can be said for both animals concerning swimming. They can swim, but as little as possible. Why? Because they don't enjoy swimming.

Therefore putting a rabbit in a swampy briar patch was not well thought out. A frog is going to be much better suited to a water ride than a rabbit for obvious reasons. Why would we want to continue to misinform our children to expect rabbits to like to swim in swamps? But it just goes to demonstrate the extraordinary lengths the Disney story tellers will go to try and make an attraction work. It was all done back in the day to help promote the movie "Splash".

Now we can have an attraction that makes more sense!

Or, they might want to consider a science fiction re-theme of the attraction and call it Space Splash:

Epic trolling @Phil12
I appreciate the effort you put into it.
To set upon me by calling me a troll does nothing to support your position. The current attraction is going to be changed because it is deeply flawed and it needs to be re-themed. That is an indisputable fact.

This is a discussion forum and you have every opportunity to disagree or criticize my suggestions for change. But since you have decided to attack my character rather than attack the opinions and thoughts in my answer, you are by definition the troll in this case.

You asked for my opinion as to why not enough thought was put into the original Splash Mountain and I clearly explained the problems. And I purposely avoided the racist problems with the ride since that has long ago also been factually established.

I understand that some uber fans have a difficult time accepting the reality that the attraction needs to be re-themed. Attacking those that support a re-theme does nothing to support your case.

That the attraction is deeply flawed is your OPINION. One that has been under dispute for years. The ONLY indisputable fact here is that Disney chose to re-theme it.

They chose to re-theme it because it is deeply flawed. You may believe otherwise, but you'll only be fooling yourself and ignoring the truth of the matter. And that's fine with me. Splash Mountain is based upon the movie Song of the South which Bob Iger says, "Is not appropriate in today's world". Hence the attraction is not appropriate either. It's not complicated.

Again...deeply flawed is an opinion. I'm not ignoring the truth of anything. That Disney as a company sees it as flawed is STILL an OPINION.

This ain't appropriate in today's world either, but Disney still did it anyway:

Let me put it in simpler terms. If you were in a university class and trying to prove that "deeply flawed" is a fact...you'd fail.
