Turned out to be a *disaster* of a name that was very short lived (only 9 of the 31 years of the park's existence) and led to lawsuits (plus nothing MGM-y in the park at all except a few movie references in TGMR).

It'd be like continuing to call "Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!" ride "Superstar Limo."

19 years not 9. It’s been MGM longer than DHS. Doesn’t make it any better though.

Hypothetically if you designed/imagineered something 'western-ish' on the pad behind BTMRR and allowed the attraction and WDWRR to serve as gateways to the area everything would flow. Like a river. Hypothetically of course.

P.S. Great diagram and question.

Some sort of expedition you might say? :)

If you expand Adventureland to take in the log ride formerly known as Splash Mountain...

Doesn't that strand Big Thunder Mountain as an island of dry, dusty Frontierland cut off from the rest of Frontierland?
What did SM theme of Song of the "South" have to do with Frontierland? Louisiana is just as much the South as is Georgia (per Wikipedia) and in fact it is CLOSER to the West.

That being said, what if Frontierland and Liberty Square were merged into one America-land and then you are showcasing East (HM/colonial Liberty Square), West (old Frontierland/BTMRR) and South (SM).

Yes, and the old North church as was originally planned. And a tall ship. It would look stunning.

If only they could reroute Splash's entrance/exit queues. Shame real life themepark design doesn't work like RollerCoaster Tycoon.

I think you need to focus on the fact that your leaders are touching little boys, not voodoo magic.
Come on, this is a family joint. Let's keep it friendly. There are bad people in every group.

Magic in general is not a favorite of the RCC, but since a lot the people going to WDW are Catholics, like myself, from NY/NJ it's never been a big issue. Voodoo was, I feel, tastefully done in the movie.

Im not an insider, but I have a friend who knows someone directly involved. This was something that has been in the pipeline and wasn’t expected to be announced or given the green light as quickly as it was. Current events sped up the timeline, but it was going to happen eventually, regardless of the current climate.

It is nearly perfect for the park. Could really get everything focused on fundamental concepts as they focus on place setting and story again. I'm very optimistic.

Maybe they’ll pull in all the great Western-ish IP they’ve got laying around

Given TDO's track record with new rides, I predict that this makeover will feature one outstanding AA (probably a clone of the Ursula figure from Mermaid, reskinned to Mama Odie), a repeat of the shadow-Yeti screen from Everest but using Dr. Facilier's shadow (including the occasional Windows notification), plus plastic flamingos from Sam's Club and leftover twinkle lights from the Osbournes to represent Ray and Evangeline. Cost-effective and plenty good enough for the rubes!
